Bigelow Strawberry/Pinecrest Cabin: Dodge is Open!! 6 Miles to Dodge.
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Wheel chair accessible:No
Pretty exciting...Dodge is opening Friday, December 21st!!! Plenty of snow at the cabin.
Located just six-tenths of a mile off Highway 108 on Old Strawberry Road, we are three miles to Pinecrest Lake, six miles to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, away from all highway noise, and at an elevation of 5600 feet.
During the snow season, the driveway will be unuseable with parking for only three cars at the road. If you have more cars, it will be necessary to park some at the school, and carpool to the cabin. It is a VERY SHORT WALK to the cabin from your car, but even so, you may need to shovel some snow a few times during your visit, and you will definitely need boots to get in: 'the price of a winter wonderland I guess.'
This is where you come if you want snow and all it has to offer.
The land is spacious enough that the kids will have a lot of fun in the snow right off the deck.
The main living area has a 13-foot-high ceiling with skylights, all knotty pine with hardwood floors. The beautiful wood-burning, rock fireplace features LOPI woodstove insert, and a quarter-log mantel. The fully-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and gas stove is open to the living room and dining area, combining as the 'great room' with oriental rugs and leather couches. The deck is off the living room with a charcoal barbecue.
The first-floor bedroom, just down the hall from the full bath, is so sweet with wainscoted knotty pine walls, full closet, queen-size bed, and beautiful, peaceful wooded views. There are two bedrooms upstairs. The first has a queen-size beds, knotty-pine and nothing to see but trees!! We call the third bedroom THE BUNKHOUSE mainly because of its size.
It has two twin-size beds, two queen-size bed, and a queen-size sleeper couch. The second dish-television with DVD/VCR player is here - a good hang out space with plenty of closet room as well. Both of these upstairs bedrooms are off the hall from the second bath with shower and tub.
We supply blankets and pillows; BRING YOUR OWN: SHEETS, PILLOWCASES, BATHROOOM AND KITCHEN TOWELS, TOILETRES, CHARCOAL AND CALLING CARD.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Cancellations made prior to 30 days before the reservation date are fully refundable less a $25 cancellation fee.
Guests canceling fewer than 30 days in advanced may be responsible for the basic cabin rental fee (no extra person fees, no cleaning fees) if the cabin cannot be rented. If the cabin does rent, there is a $25 cancellation fee only, and it can be used as credit towards your next stay if within one year of your cancellation.
In the summer, you are three miles from the lake and away from the lake campground's noise and campfire smoke. You can walk to the river (about a mile so a good walk); minutes to good fishing, horseback riding, trailheads, bike trails and all Pinecrest Lake has to offer: swimming, boat rentals, even party boats....a real mountain retreat.

My family and I stayed in this beautiful cabin March 2012 during their Spring Break. Lucky for us, there was snow on the ground, in fact, quite a bit of it. We enjoyed the wonderful furnishings of the cabin along with the snow play that we had outside of the cabin. My kids had a blast and so did the adults. We had a such a great time, I hope to return again this year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this cabin. Took the whole family, my folks, my husband and our 2 year old, my brother and his wife. There was plenty of room for all of us. The cabin was beautifully furnished, fully equipped and felt like our second home from the moment we arrived. Very peaceful surroundings. The weather was gorgeous. It was a very short drive to the lake, and to the amenities of Strawberry. We played some ping pong, read, watched movies, swam, sat on the deck, went for long walks: A perfect summer vacation. Vivian, the owner, is a wonderful host. Cannot recommend this cabin enough! We will definitely be returning.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice review. We got a rave review about you too from our cleaning service. It is always gratifying to hear people had a good time at our cabin. You are certainly welcome back any time. Thank you again, Vivian and David

What a joy your cabin has been!! It started snowing the day we arrived, and we were lucky to have gorgeous snowfall the entire time. The dogs had never seen snow, and they had a fabulous time (even the wiener dogs, and their bellies hitting the snow...looked like rabbits hopping around. You have made the cabin so cozy with old sledding antiques and the huge stone fireplace, but it is also extremely comfortable with the leather couches, great tv's/dvd's and top-of-the-line kitchen. Letting us bring our dogs (part of the family) just mde it all the more special. Thank you so much for crating such a special cabin! Maggie and ChristineDid you find this review helpful? Great holiday get away. No snow until Christmas night...rain, storm, and snow. Had a great time playing in the snow near Hwy. 108....found a great hill for our sleds. Had lots of fun at the cabin playing cards, eating good food, watching movies, and just hanging out. Fantastic way to celebrate Christmas with our family (son, daughter-in-law, and grand daughters ages 11 and 12 and grandson, Connor, age 3) Thanks, Ronnie & Deweyene Our family really enjoyed the relaxing and comfortable cabin. It's very apparent that there was a great deal of thought put in to the remodel and decorating..nice job! Your very kind to allow our family to stay here over the holidays. The snow was very refreshing. Kids had a blast with your sleds....snapped off lots of good pictures. Thanks you, Gary & ChristineDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

THANKSGIVING!! What a wonderful 5 days! The cabin was perfect for 6 adults and 5 children. We sure did enjoy ourselves. Ate way too much, went on walks, quad rides, bike rides, and created many memories. When the kids (ages 2-10) head the temperature at night dropped low enough for snow, they prayed. On Friday night it hailed, and today. Sunday, it is still on the ground. They made snowballs, ran around and had a splendid time! I think we have started a new family tradition! Thanks again for an opportunity to enjoy our family and create memories that will last. Vivian and David, Thank you for letting us share your cabin. Every part of it was even better than you told us. The downstairs kitchen/living area is perfect for a mini-family reunion. Everyone from the youngest to the oldest had a great time. It was a great anniversary present for our folks. It was a pleasure talking and emailing with you. Hi Vivian and David, We had a great time. We enjoyed staying in your cabin so much that my 5 year old daughter asked me if we can stay in the cabin forever. We did not have any problems finding the cabin at all considering we did not get there until 9:30 p.m. Foosball was a great hit for my 2 nieces ages 9 and 7 respectively. All in all, our stay was a blast and I will definitely recommend your cabin to our friends. Once again, thank you!!!! CeliDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Why the Owner Chose Strawberry:
We have come to this area for over 30 years. Our big love is hiking the Emigrant Wilderness. We live in Berkeley and have always felt so fortunate to be so close to this beautiful High Sierra area. Summers at Pinecrest lake, walking around it (5 miles), watching the kids grow up. Of course, skiing at Dodge is a HUGE attraction for us. It is so children friendly and offers a challenge for advanced skiers and boarders as well; it's hard to go home. Strawberry is right there, and we never dare dream we would find a mountain home that we would love like we do this beautiful cabin.
It has been wonderful, over the years, to share our cabin with so many regular guests. Thank you!!
Vivian and David Bigelow
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
In the winter, being able to sled right on the property so the little ones could take a break to come in, has been wonderful. It is so quiet up here, walking to the river, though a good walk, is beautiful. It is a lot of fun having a ping pong table and foosball table. (I will update this when I go home and have more time to think.)
