We've just returned from a wonderful stay at La Tour des Baumes and already wish we were back there! The location, in Gordes, is a great base for sightseeing around Provence, and the setting is incredibly scenic. Jean and Eric were wonderful hosts, offering great tips for the area and many amenities to make the stay more enjoyable. The tower was even prettier than the pictures show as well. The one area to be aware of is that the bedroom area is separate from the living room, so at night you will have to go outside and up a small set of stairs to get to your room. It's not difficult but worth mentioning just in case. We would highly recommend this property to people interested in an authentic Provence experience!

We come again and again to the tower and always have a wonderfully relaxing break. Architecturally pleasing, handsomely fitted and decorated, the tower is set within two beautiful gardens. Olive trees, white roses, box trees... everything is perfect. Eric and Jean have paid close attention to detail and are generous and welcoming. If you can, you should go. Breakfasts on the balcony over looking the Luberon hills, lazy lunches in the garden and plentyful nearby restaurants. Night-time swims with the tower softly lit in the background are a special treat.

The pictures of 'La Tour' are great, but nothing compares to the reality of being there! Following the bustle of Paris, this was a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the bright sunshine, dry climate, local markets, excellent wines and cheeses. So many things to rave about. Eric and Jean--the perfect hosts--were extremely helpful, kind and courteous. Their sense of hospitality was warm and very appreciated. The accomodations were extremely clean, well appointed, reflecting their excellent taste. We highly recommend this property.

My husband and I recently rented the Tower in June and it was magical. It felt like I was in a fairytale! Eric and Jean were so kind and helpful and made our trip perfect. They gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants, outdoor markets, and the best route to see the lavender fields. The property exceeded our expectations! The views from the Tower were incredible!! It was absolutely beautiful and the location was the best. Easy to go on day trips and a short walk to the village of Gordes. This will now become our annual tradition. Merci beaucoup Eric and Jean for an amazing vacation! We will see you again next year!

La Tour des Beaumes: Absolutely Wonderful!

La Tour des Beaumes was a wonderful spot to vacation in Provence! It is even more beautiful than the photos. Walking distance to Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France, it had boulangeries, restaurants and amazing views. It was the perfect location for many day trips to other villages and the surrounding countryside. Maintained beautifully, the property with its manicured grounds, wonderful pool and stunning views of the Luberon provides the perfect intimate escape. The tower is very romantic and has all of the necessary amenities and is very clean and well kept with many modern features. Our hosts, Eric and Jean, were wonderful and provided us with a warm welcome and lots of helpful information. We were sad to leave and will make our next stay longer! I would not hesitate to recommend this property to couples seeking a romantic vacation in Provence.

The Quietest Place on Earth!

La Tour is a little piece of heaven in a beautiful spot in France. The private home is a perfect hideaway. With it's easy access to neighborhood markets & just a walk into Gordes, you can take advantage of great restaurants and mind blowing markets. There's nothing better than enjoying local cheeses, sausages, & produce with a bottle of regional wine on the terrace or in the pool house. Jean & Eric are perfect hosts. They're happy to help with sightseeing, dining, or shopping suggestions, but allow you to be perfectly isolated if you prefer. After the sun sets, the only sound you'll hear is the church bells in Gordes. Perfect! An A+ accommodation in an A+ location with A+ hosts.

Authentic French holiday with super service and centrally located in the Provence

We booked the tower early (sept 2009) for two weeks in september 2010. So we had a long time to prepare what was waiting for us... We were not disappointed. We were welcomed with a warm welcome by the owners, we were a bit late (18:00 hours) but they had made a delicious setting with bread, fresh figs and tomatoes en lemons (and beverages in fridge). And don't forget the wine. That was the reason we came to this region; Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape etc. It was great!!! After visiting these villages we drunk the wine at the tower and it was al you imagined if you were in France drinking wine. Sitting in the garden under the stars, WAUW! Gordes itself was a beautiful village and in the evening we walked there and it was everything as you expected, beautiful view etc. Getting the pain from the bakery, walking trough the small roads of gordes was fantastic. Of course visiting the villages around Gordes from 1 to 2 hour drive was great to visit. We went from the coast to Mont Ventoux, never a dull moment. About the "Tour des Beaumes" the facilities were clean and fresh and there is enough room for two. You have you're own pool, very relaxed. There is one less positive fact, the bathroom is behind the kitchen which is separate from the bedroom upstairs. But there is enough space in the bathroom to find a good solution. This has never made our holiday less good then it was. If you have doubts, don't, book the tower. You will not be disappointed.

Dear Eric & Jean, Thank you for such a wonderful stay in your beautiful tower in Gordes, the drive down was filled with both excitement and trepidation, but on arrival all our fears departed. The gorgeous town of Gordes, your lovely tower and your hospitality exceeded our expectations. The Luberon may well be the most beautiful place in the world, the picturesque villages perched on the hillsides, the fields of lavender and the sound of crickets serenading in the moonlight. We explored the markets of Cavaillon and Coustellet, the vineyards and olive groves surrounding Gordes and floated in your secluded pool for a blissful two weeks. The tower and grounds were always immaculate, even after a visit from the Mistral. And your recommendations for sites to see and restaurants to visit were first class. We would certainly recommend a stay in the tower to anyone, especially those in love. My only regret was that we had to leave. Best wishes Jonathan and Dawn

This is an ideal place to stay when visiting the Luberon. We have returned for 5 years. It is unusual in our experience to have so much for just two people. The Tower is so close to Gordes, a bracing 15 minute walk and yet you are secluded with your own pool with pool house and a magical garden and small olive grove for just the two of you to enjoy. After a morning stroll up to Gordes to pick up a baguette and croissants you can return and enjoy your breakfast on the veranda outside your bedroom with wonderful view of the Luberon. Equally it is a peaceful and relaxing place to sit and watch the stars at night before retiring. On Sunday morning there is an excellent Farmers Market in nearby Coustellet, a short drive down the hill from The Tower. There is also a very good restaurant, L'Estellan, on the way back to The Tower from the market, where you can get a very good, inexpensive, set lunch menu. There are endless walks from the Tower up through a remote valley to Senanque Abbey. History lovers can go down the valley to see the Bories and caves, all of the footpaths are clear and well marked. Historic Avignon is only 25 minute drive away. If you wish to go further a visit to Aix is a must, as is Cassis. Here are some practical considerations. The place is spotless and Eric and Jean, the owners, are kind and generous hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Every year we have returned, there has been something added or improved. Over the years we have stayed at many gites and houses all over France. The Tower is unique. It is the only place where the owners have asked at the end of our stay whether there were any improvements we should like to see for the next year. This year we are staying at the Tower for three weeks which says it all. We cannot recommend it too highly.

Romantic retreat with charming hosts

Everything about the holiday exceeded our expectations. We received a very warm greeting from Eric and Jean which extended throughout our stay. They really have mastered the art of being helpful without being intrusive. The tower is tastefully decorated and a lot of thought has gone in to the finishing touches which helped to make the holiday so special. "La Tour des Beaumes" is in such a beautiful and relaxing environment and surrounded by small villages, however we became so comfortable that some days it was incredibly difficult to muster up enough enthusiasm to leave the pool area!! Gordes is a beautiful town with lots of character but we did find eating out very expensive. We have had a few holidays in the South of France but nothing has come close to the holiday in the tower, we would love to go back but are never organised enough to book that far in advance!

My husband and I enjoyed a weeks stay at the Tower in Gordes in September 2009 - we booked this after seeing the stunning photo's and we were not disappointed since it looked just as fabulous in real life. It was also lovely to stay in a property that was beautiful and secluded but also just a 10 minute stroll into a village that had restaurants and a market - nice to be able to go out and both have a drink and dinner without having to get the car out. The owners were charming and very helpful with suggestions of markets and sightseeing destinations. The area is beautiful too with plenty of places to see and villages to explore. I would recomend this property to anyone wishing for a romantic place to stay.

This is our favourite place to holiday. It is a completely unique and historic place to stay with beautiful furnishings, a large private garden that is beautifully lanscaped, and absolutely wonderful hosts who go to great lengths to ensure that you have wonderful experience. We have visited three times and every time it has surpassed all of our expectations. The website and description give a very accurate view of the property and its amenities. The owners are the best holiday hosts we have ever had. They are very helpful ensuring that every aspect of your stay is perfect and they are very welcoming. There is a wealth of attractions/ activities for all tastes nearby although the tower and the garden are so enchanting that staying in and enjoying the garden is an attraction in itself. We definitely plan to return.

The most memorable birthday celebration ever! Thank you Eric and Jean for your discreet hospitality. When we first saw your property on your website, we were intrigued. When we got there, we were welcomed by Eric and Jean with such friendliness and warmth. We were late checking in but Eric and Jean had a wonderful welcome food basket with bread, cheese, fruits and wine. Superb! The interior is simple yet tastefully decorated. My husband loves to cook and found the kitchen well appointed. Many delicious meals were cooked there. Thank you Eric for blowing up the float for me to lounge on in the pool. It was still cool at that time of the year but the pool was so tempting. The outdoor space, the yard, the garden, the petit water fountain, the spectacular view....AMAZINGLY immaculate, beautiful and breathtaking. The accommodations were very comfortable. We slept like babies. We had many adventures driving to the villages nearby and the village of Gordes itself has a great market day. Overall a very memorable and relaxing vacation. Highly recommend this piece of paradise. What a great introduction to Provence. We will be back!
