A very scenic, peaceful, low country setting - loved spending time on the docks. The cottage was perfect and we enjoyed the sweet dogs - what a life they have! Jo Anne was a great host. We only wished we could have stayed longer. We plan to return during our next trip south. Thanks, Jo Anne!

We had an amazing time. Very relaxing, went to the beach everyday! We went fishing and crabbing right off the new long dock. In the evening you could watch the moon rise over the marsh from your deck it doesn't get much better then that.Very laid back and relaxing, Local stores and restaurants just a few miles away. Everything is just like the site shows, but better in person.Jo Ann and her crew (5 pups) were very friendly, just like old friends. It was so great we stayed an extra night! Hope to visit again real soon! Warm wishes to Jo Ann, Reilly, Ralph Cammy, Jingles and my personal favorite Bubba <3

My partner and I spent several days at Joann's cottage in late March and just loved it. The setting is as beautiful as the pictures make it out to be and Joann is a friendly and knowledgeable hostess. We went to Huntington Island State Park every day (so beautiful!) and enjoyed Beaufort and the Penn Center as well. If you're looking for a relaxing, quiet Low Country getaway, then look no further than the cozy cottage.

Great place if you are looking to get away from it all. If you like dogs and want to bring your dog with you.JoAnn is a wonderful host and became a friend. The one who will miss The Cozy Cottage the most is your dog. Go to the Foolish Frog on Tuesday Evenings and see 20some local muscians in a jam session playing Blue Grass for the love of the music.

My stay at Cozy Cottage was everything I had wanted it to be, and then some. The beauty, the comfort, Jo Ann herself, the doggies, and the lone dolphin who came to wish me a "blubby Birthday" . . the sun rising over the marsh and hitting me in the face with a morning kiss, it was glorious. I just launched a new decade of my life with this visit and I am well pleased with such an auspicious beginning.

If you think you might enjoy your morning cup of coffee watching the sun rise slowly over the marsh, making the water sparkle like ripples of diamonds, or listening to the uplifting rush of wings of the white cranes in flight from their nests in the tall grass; if you think you would enjoy the uncoditional love of 5 very special well-behaved dogs, Reilly, Bubba Gump, Cammie, Jingles and Ralph, who come to visit you with tails a-wagging, then COZY COTTAGE is the place for you. It is truly a little piece of heaven tucked away on St. Helena Island. And none of it would be possible without Jo Ann welcoming you with her warm low-country hospitality. She is a very special lady with a wealth of information about where to visit, where to eat, or just about anything you need to know about the area. Thank you so much, Jo Ann, for a truly memorable vacation that we will never forget. And good luck with the kitties.
Owner response:WOW!! I am truly delighted that my guests enjoy their visits to the Low Country and the Cozy Cottage so much. The attempt is to make you feel at home and that the property is yours to enjoy . My dogs seem to want to include everyone too.

Yes, we returned with our greyhounds- Mid. Jan-Mid Feb. escaping the harsher upstate NY climate for milder SC . Felt like visiting old friends. JoAnn and her fab. 5 all greeted us warmly. Waking up to a sunny marsh view nestled amidst a forest of live oaks was a pleasure. My husband hooked a nice fish off Joann's 560ft. dock, but it slipped off his line as he was trying to get it netted. (Honest-he swears it's not just another fish story) Our dogs looked forward to romping in the 2 acre, fully-fenced enclosure.- So nice to be able to let them off lead for a little romp. They did enjoy walking the Hunting Island beach which we did almost every afternoon after working out at OMNI fitness in Beaufort.(JoAnn supplies a State Park Pass to her renters, and the park offers many programs for adults and children-most free. There is a small charge to climb to the top of the lighthouse, and the view of the barrier island beach, trees, and neighboring islands is phenomenal.) This is a good area for folks who like to explore and learn. If you travel with your pet, it's ideal.
Owner response:I love having repeat guests- both the 2 legged and 4 legged !!! One becomes attached and like a family the 2nd time around.

The Cozy Cottage was the perfect birthday surprise! It was everything and more....clean and in a beautiful location. Jo Ann was more so generous and kind and her "gang" made our trip in more special. Bubba, Riley, Ralph, Jingels and Cammie thank you for being so nice to our 2 fur babies. They loved their stay as well. Loved the area and the history....so glad we were able to go to the Shrimp Shack too. We will come back for another stay. Jo Ann, thank you again for showing us all your collections. It was like leaving a long time friend. I guess 2 retired flight attendants do have some kind of bond! Until next time!

Beautiful, peaceful and private. We spent a relaxing week here with our dog Gabriel - who also had a wonderful time playing in the fully fenced grounds with his new 4-legged friends. The cottage is absolutely immaculate and the grounds are even more beautiful than pictured. Morning coffee on the screened porch watching the sun come up was a great start to each day, and the courtyard is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the quiet and great views of the marsh. We spent part of every day at the Hunting Island State Park beaches, just minutes away. This was a perfect getaway! Thanks Jo Ann, Bubba, Cammie, Jingles, Ralph and Riley - you made us feel right at home.

We are about to wind up a week at the cottage, and are relaxed and refreshed as a result of the experience. The owner is a lovely lady who is anxious to be sure that everything we need is provided. The canine buddies, each in their own way, are sweet and great company for our two four-legged kids. Fishing and hammock on the dock, a dip in the pool, exploring the surrounding area, and room for the pups to run are features that would be hard to match elsewhere. Great vacation.
Owner response:It is such a compliment to receive a commendation especially such a nice one. The area is conducive to relaxation...very laid back. One doesn't need to pack much in the way ot clothing. Just bring your fishing gear, good books, and appetite for seafood. !!

I really do not begin to know where to start. Utterly amazing is all I can say, not just about the cottage and grounds but especially about the owner. JoAnn and her companions were simlply wonderful, everything you could ever want in a vacation cottage. All the simple things all there waiting on you. Do not visit this cottage if you do not want to feel like part of her family. She made my wife and I feel so welcome. The photos do not do this Garden cottage justice. Its like you are staying in your own little piece of heaven. I am at a loss for words, as words cannot describe the grounds of this lovely cottage and more importantly JoAnn.. I tear up thinking about what a kind and very heartwarming lady JoAnn is. She deserves nothing but blessings in her life for the way she treats people and pets.. Thank you so much JoAnn and we will see you soon. Please let Jingles, Ralphie, Bubba, Cammy, and Riley know we miss them already.. Charlie & Betty Jordan

We have visited Beaufort many times over the years and we know the area well. This past weekend was the second time we've used VRBO and the first time we've stayed in this cozy cottage. I hope we'll have the time to visit again over the summer. If the cottage, the pool, the 2 fenced acres for our dog, and the the marsh view aren't enough - there's always the hammock (on the covered dock 600 feet out over the marsh). The cottage is close enough to everything to make it convenient for shopping and dinner, but far enough removed to feel like a real vacation. We definitely recommend this spot. A perfect get away for two.
Owner response:It is always a pleasant surprise when a review comes to me. AgaIn I realize how bessed I am to have such thoughtful amd appreciative guests stay in my cottage.

My wife and I just returned from spending a week at this rental and were very pleased with our accomodation and the personal relationship built with proprietor Jo Anne and her 5 rescue dogs. Having stayed in several hotels/inns in the USA, this was a pleasant change in personal relations and scale of accomodation. Our accomodation was spotless and fully functional, We chose the rental as it is a reasonable drive to Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston. Beaufort was an unexpected find and is a must for history, architecture, interesting shops and the seafood served in the area restaurants was excellent and overall good value. We were very lucky with great weather as well. Overall a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone looking for a private, quiet and well situated accomodation. Should we have an opportunity to return a little later in the season another year, we would enjoy the pool and beach which were a little cool mid March. Thanks Jo Anne for helping to make this a terrific vacation. It was well worth the 1700 kilometer drive each way from Ontario to escape the snow.

Peaceful, Picturesque, Private-:Perfect get-a-way for us and our 2 greyhounds. The fenced-in compound is something you won't find often-ideal for those of us who love to travel with our 4- legged friends too.. JoAnn is closeby and helpful, but not obtrusive. She helped these 2 ignorant Northerners learn so much about the low country & Gullah culture and the lovely sea islands. We really appreciated all the knowledge we gained. The fact that Hunting Island State Park was just 4 miles away and an entry pass is provided by JoAnn was a hugh bonus. Our dogs got to walk the beach with us almost every day. They also liked to walk out on Jo Ann's 500ft. boardwalk and watch their master fish and crab now and then. (He sighted a pod of dolphin while fishing off that dock.) This is not your typical condo type vacation and we did not want it to be. Been there, done that.. This was a learning experience and an opportunity to visit some of our friends in the area while escaping the deep freeze and cold. Along the way, we made a new friend-Our very gracious landlady, Jo Ann, who made the cozy cottage feel like our home for two winter months. We came back North refreshed, relaxed, with so many happy memories. Thanks JoAnn, Bubba, Cammie, Riley, Jingles, & Ralph. diane, dick, maty, brooklyn -Upstate (FingerLakes area)

HOW MANY WAYS CAN YOU SAY “PERFECT”??? OUR HOSTESS WAS THE DELIGHTFUL JOANNE MOORE – A SWEETHEART OF A LADY WHO GOES OUT OF HER WAY TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS “JUST SO” – OUR COTTAGE WAS CLEAN, NEAT, PERFECTLY MAINTAINED AND IDEAL FOR A GET-A-WAY! THE LOCATION IS PRIVATE, QUIET, WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LOW COUNTRY MARSH JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR. THE PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL WAS JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR, CLEAN, NEAT AND PERFECT ! THE 600 FOOT PRIVATE DOCK (WITH A HAMMOCK!) WAS PERFECT FOR BIRDWATCHING, READING, RELAXING AND CRABBING! THE 2 DOZEN BLUE CRABS WE CAUGHT IN A FEW MINUTES TIME AT THE END OF THE DOCK WERE A PERFECT DINNER WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE AND SOME GOOD FRENCH BREAD! THE NEARBY BEACH WAS EASY TO GET TO, CLEAN, AND WE SWAM WITH 8 DOLPHINS! OUR BIG WOLFHOUND ROSIE WAS DELIGHTED TO FIND THAT JOANNE HAS A FEW CANINE COMPANIONS AS WELL, AND THEY ALL ENJOYED A ROMP IN THE LARGE FENCED YARD! THE RATES FOR THE COTTAGE WERE VERY REASONABLE, AND REPRESENTED EXCEPTIONAL VALUE. THE REST AND RELAXATION ARE PRICELESS! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, WE WILL BE BACK EVERY CHANCE WE GET! JIM & JERI GLYNN AND ROSIE THE WOLFHOUND!

My wife and I stayed at the cozy cottage during the last week of April. I used to live in Beaufort so I know my way around. Peaceful, relaxing and an incredible view! The cottage is cozy, well kept and perfect for a couple (and our little Yorkie) JoAnn is close by but very respectful of privacy and gracious enough to share dinner with us at Boondocks! We can't stress enough how QUIET it is out on the island!

We have been fortunate enough to stay at the "Cottage" several times over the past two years and each time we leave, we start dreaming about our next trip. The home is lovely - very clean and comfortable - and the grounds enchanting. All topped off by JoAnn's warm hospitality and sweet, loving dogs. There's two docks - one small and one large - to fish, crab or boat from. A beautiful pool to relax around or in. A patio for dining or just relaxing and two bikes to ride. The beach is really close, sevearl great galleries and shops a few miles a way and lots to do in town. I expect your stay at the "cottage" will surpass your expectations - as it always does with us, each and every time we stay there. Can't wait to visit again. I spent a fabulous weekend at the cottage over Easter. The cottage was so comfortable and had absolutely everything you could need. The property was beautiful with the azaleas in bloom. It was such a peaceful and quiet weekend. The pool was very nice, little too cold to get in, but it was so clean and pretty. I spent several days sitting on the side reading or napping. A benefit of staying here was that I was able to bring my dog, Cooper. He had a great time with the other dogs and checking out the whole place. The cottage and property is VERY dog friendly. You are very close to the beach (about 6 miles or so) and local eateries. I hope to visit again soon. Thank you Jo Ann for a wonderful vacation.

This was truly the best vacation I've ever had. JoAnn made the whole family (including our dogs) feel so much at home. My Border Collie never knew she could have so much fun! The cottage was was so clean, the property was gorgeous, the pool so refreshing, and we caught over 40 crabs off the crabbing dock. The beach was close and nice, the state park was like a tropical setting, we even went horseback riding down the rode from the cottage. If anything, the pictures in the listing don't do justice to the actual beauty of JoAnn's property. I was truly sad to leave and hope someday I can get back there. Thank-you JoAnn for a truly memorable vacation.

I am a Marine Mom from Ohio who recently traveled to SC for my son’s graduation from Marine bootcamp. When searching for a place to stay in the Parris Island area that would accept pets, I came across this lovely cottage. Please don’t have any qualms about staying here as everything that is depicted and described on this web page is accurate! I would like to add that the cottage is immaculately clean, and JoAnn has provided for every amenity that a person could want! The distance from Parris Island was only a short drive and we had the opportunity to travel to Hunting Island State Park (about a ten minute drive)three times during our short visit. Our Chocolate Lab loved running up and down the beach while I collected shells! May I add that the cottage is quite enchanting, very comfortable and most relaxing! JoAnn is a lovely person and animal lover, and I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone. We were definitely provided with the perfect solution for accomodations while traveling with our pet! Thanks JoAnn!
