Beautiful private villa overlooking the western Caribbean.

Villa Allento - The Slow House - so named because your life will slow down dramatically within 72 hours of your arrival.
Villa Allento is on the northside of Roatan Island, part of the Bay Islands, 35 miles off the coast of Honduras in the western Caribbean. This very private villa sits high on a quiet hillside overlooking Politilly Bight, roughly in the middle of the island, with incredible ocean views from east to west. It is well removed from the cruise ship craziness in Coxen Hole and crowded and noisy West End, but only 15-20 minutes from French Harbor shopping, restaurants and dive shops and 30 minutes from the airport. Its hillside location above the trees means there is always a breeze, no sand fleas, and a magnificent view of Politilly Bight and miles of reef.
The 3500 square foot home (designed by internationally known Hal Sorrenti) has an open and rambling design, arranged around a 1600 square foot courtyard with a plunge pool. Inside and outside spaces merge seamlessly in this design. Even the master and guest suite showers have beautiful ocean views! Eat in our open air dining room or gather around the huge countertop in the kitchen. The house is fully applianced, with microwave, dishwasher, wall oven, gas grill, electric cooktop, full-sized washer and dryer, stereo, VCR and even satellite TV. Broadband internet modem available at no cost on request. And no air conditioning is necessary, since the constant trade winds and many ceiling fans will keep you comfortable more naturally.
Our local property manager will meet you at the airport to acquaint you with the island, direct you to the house and provide first night and morning's provisions so you won't have to rush around shopping for groceries on your first night on the island. Mariano, our caretaker/gardener is on-site 24/7 and maid service is available upon request. A relatively modern medical/dental clinic is located just a 10 minute drive away. Other properties are available nearby for larger parties.
Yes, everything you see in the pictures is part of Villa Allento and is included in the low rental rate. This is a beautifully designed and furnished premium property, not just a place to sleep. Some guests never leave the villa during their stay.
There are direct flights weekly to Roatan via Grupo TACA, Delta, and Continental from Houston, Atlanta and Miami. TACA, Continental, Delta, and American all have daily flights to San Pedro Sula on the mainland, just a short connecting hop from the island.

Why the Owner Chose Politilly Bight
We chose Roatan because its only 2 - 2 1/2 hours from Miami or Houston by air, predominately English speaking, has relatively good healthcare, and is out of the normal hurricane routes. And it certainly helped that real estate and construction prices were a fraction of what they are in the eastern Caribbean. You get everything that the eastern Caribbean offers at much more reasonable prices.
Working with a local designer and building contractor, we started construction of Villa Allento in 2000 and finished it in 2001. I visited the island every 6 weeks or so during the main part of the construction to oversee things and make sure everything went smoothly. It was tough duty, but someone had to do it!
The Unique Benefits at this Villa

Owner's Map of Politilly Bight
I've always been a long term planner and realised in the early 1990s, that if I waited until I retired, all the baby boomers ahead of me would have bought up all the good Caribbean property. I first visited the island in 1998 and decided to buy land there as the wheels were coming up on the plane on the flight out. So Villa Allento was built as a retirement home, with the plan to rent it occasionally until then.
I've retired from Corporate America, but started a small business that currently has me travelling the USA fulltime by RV. Feel free to call anytime, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about Villa Allento or life on Roatan in general.
