You can watch whales during winter from the spacious balcony and enjoy the incredible view of the protected bay and neighboring islands all year round. People who have stayed here have come back over and over again.
Maalaea is central to the island's many attractions. 20 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes to Lahaina, Kahului and the North Shore with it's many windsurfing locations. Shopping is about 20 minutes by car and restaurants are in 5 minutes walking distance. 5 minutes walk in one direction brings you to Maalea's yacht harbor with a small shopping mall and the Maui Ocean Center (Aquarium). 5 minutes walk the other direction will bring you to a 2 mile long sandy beach.

The perfect winter respite! So much to do and see on this beautiful island but the simple things are still the best - gorgeous sunrises, sounds of the surf, long walks on the beach, whale watching from the lanai, warm golden days, star-studded nights, and even a full moon shimmering all the way across Maalea Bay. Knowing that we were missing Portland's third ice storm this winter made us appreciate our stay here even more.

Why the Owner Chose Maalaea
In Maalea you can walk everywhere. It is a short walk to the yacht harbor, the ocean center with all the shops, restaurants, etc, and a short walk into the other direction leads to a long beach, stretching all the way to Kihei. Maalea is central to the Island and it is easy to reach many other different beaches, interesting locations and also shopping within a short drive.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
It is just soooooo relaxing. This unit has the most beautiful ocean view from the Lanai. You can watch whales in the winter and all year round see the majestic Haleakala across the bay. We had many family meals right there overlooking the ocean, listening to the movements in the water, looking for turtles with the binoculars that are available also for our guests during their stay.
A beautiful, state of the art aquarium, a must see and visit on Maui. 5 minutes walking distance from the condo.
Lovely to take a walk to the harbor in the evening or early morning and watch the boats leaving or coming in - also some whale watch boats are leaving from here.

We are living in Maui since 1993. In 1996 we bought the condo so our family from all over the world can visit, be close to us and enjoy the beautiful location. I work in the public school system as a school based behavioral health counselor and manage the unit after work. I really enjoy having and sharing this beautiful place.

We have rented this condo for 2 years in a row for more than a month each time. We have already reserved the condo for 30 days in 2012. The condo is clean and well furnished. It also has a million dollar view of Maalaea Bay and there is a sand beach for long walks a block or so away. It is centrally located to most of the sightseeing and is located on a quiet deadend road.

This was our first trip to Maui so I was very happy that the location of this condo turned out to be perfect! We loved staying near the condo, either on the lanai watching whales or at the beach that was only a couple minutes walk and was mostly empty, even on the weekend. But we were thrilled that it was so close to most of the other areas of Maui - we could get just about anywhere in 20 min. The condo was clean & very well stocked. It was just for my husband and I so there was plenty of space and the king size bed was very comfortable. We spent most mornings using the wonderful binoculars provided (thank you!) to watch whales. The lanai gets some sun in the morning but stays shaded most of the day, allowing us to keep the blind up and see the ocean all day long. (first week of April). The neighbors were friendly and we enjoyed grilling dinner at the pool one night. The condo is even better than it looks in the listing and the owner is very helpful and accomodating. We had a really good time at the Skyline Eco-Adventures Zipline and I highly recommend getting up bright & early (3:45am for us) to go watch the sun rise at the top of the volcano in Haleakala National Park (about 1.5 hour drive from here). We had a great burger in Lahaina at a restaurant on the top floor, overlooking the Banyan tree. Don't miss the whale watching or the sunset from the wonderful lookout point just a few minutes away on the road to Lahaina. I've already recommended this condo to my sister and we would stay here again. It was perfect!

We had a wonderful time all the three times we have been here. The decor is lovely and the view spectacular. We enjoyed the sunrise over Haleakala & the Kihei bay from our lanai every morning and of course the sounds of the waves lapping the shore never grew old. We also were amazed by the beauty when watching the full moon rise over the Haleakala from the lanai. We’ll certainly be back!

We've just come back from a 6 night stay and enjoyed every minute at this nice condo. We really enjoyed having a washer and dryer in unit. The best view possible with whales to look for every morning with the binoculars provided by the owner. Office staff was very helpful and even booked our whale watching trip for us. The weather was great and it seemed that we were perfectly located to do whatever we wanted to do on the island. The beaches, the restaurants, the mountain hikes all seemed an easy distance from the condo. From our Guest Book: Thank yo so much for allowing us the opprotunity to have this gorgeous view for ten days .... it was a welcoming sight upon arrival and is a gorgeous one on departure. Maui was great to us and our 3 children. Ma'alaea proved to be an ideal location that allowed us to travel to Lahaina and Kihei for our adventures (the Reefdancers and Maui Princess cruise, for example) and then return "home" for some R & R.
