2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, full kitchen, great room, A/C, high speed internet. No pets, no visitors younger than 14 (18 by start of 2010) and only in the company of parents.
"Banda" condo, built with a lot of attention to detail for our personal enjoyment, is located on the top floor, where the view of the Pacific Ocean is visible from everywhere. All rooms have French doors to the balcony. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom a queen-size bed. Both bedrooms have private baths. The kitchen is fully-equipped, and meals can be enjoyed either at the bar or on the balcony.
Screened windows on all sides let the cooling breezes in and there are plenty of ceiling fans, but should it be too hot for you, air conditioning is available at extra cost. A dip in the pool works wonders too.
The condo is part of a six-apartment complex, all sharing the custom made charcoal BBQ, the pool which is the largest privately owned in the area, and the laundry room.
In total, we have room for 16 people, and complex is perfect for a group of family or friends.. See listings #78865, #93480, and # 220373 and our own web site for information about the other units. We do offer a favorable price for renting the entire complex.
For complete privacy, the property is nestled between lots of tropical plants behind fences and walls.
Weekly maid service is included in the price, as is local telephone service and use of the laundry room. We have no TV, but there is a small but growing library, a radio with tape deck and tapes plus CD-player/MP3 player and a varied selection of CD's or you could bring your own music.
If you bring your laptop, we provide the fast DSL connection by LAN cable. By Christmas 2009, we will have WiFi for the entire complex.
We do ask that you do not smoke inside or bring pets at all.
By the start of 2010, our lower age limit will be 18 years, and a truly relaxing, adult atmosphere is included in the price. No matter your age, you will love the pool which is the largest private pool in the area. It takes 10-15 minute to walk to the beach or the mouth of Rio Nosara for swimming, fishing, and shell collecting. (Coming back takes a little bit longer, because it is up-hill part of the way.)
Car or ATV is necessary for trips to Nosara Village and beyond. If you decide not to rent a vehicle for your entire stay, there is taxi service for a reasonable price and now three car rental places where you can rent for a day or more.
Also within walking distance: Rancho Suisso Restaurant, Pancho's Market and Taverna, La Luna Restaurant, LaGarta Lodge, Leroy's River Tours, and Beate's Horseback Riding Tours.
Nearby Playa Guiones is one of the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica. Surf Guiones during the day, but stay in peace and quiet on top of the hill above Playa Pelada, where the breezes will make it cool and comfortable.
Between July and December, the Olive Ridley sea turtles come to Playa Ostional, half hour away, to nest. Seeing this is a truly amazing experience.

Year Purchased: 2001
Despite our Scandinavian roots, we have always turned our eyes to the South when traveling for pleasure. In 1980, we emigrated to Virginia and found a climate much better than what we were used to in Denmark, but our vacations would generally take us even further south – and always to bodies of water. Over the years, we have seen many beautiful places, but it was always good to go back home to Virginia.
Why the Owner Chose Nosara
In the summer of 2000, we traveled to Nosara, Costa Rica for the first time. We stayed at a small resort, which a friend had made us aware of. It was love at first sight! Nosara had everything we like: beach, ocean, warm weather, tropical fruits, fresh fish, original, local flair and friendly people. For the first time, we felt very much “at home”. Nosara chose us to stay, and a building lot for sale nearby kept calling us. Building in a Central American country has been a very interesting experience! It has taken a little blood, lots of sweat and some tears - and more patience than we thought we had, but we love the result. The resort where we stayed is no longer in business, but we are, and we invite you to share in our dream.
And, don’t be surprised if you too will want to keep coming back. Nosara has a way of getting you hooked! We plan on retiring there soon enough for us to be able to enjoy hopefully many, happy years in Nosara.
The Unique Benefits of this Condominium
“Banda” is the penthouse we designed and built for ourselves. During our first visit to Nosara, we fell in love with the ceiling of the room we stayed in. When it became time for us to start designing our own place, we actually started with the ceiling and then placed the walls and everything else below it, so the view of the ceiling would be the most pleasing from everywhere.
While staying in "Banda" you can enjoy everything we have put in for our own comfort and pleasure – like a big kitchen with lots of “stuff”. The counter in the master bathroom is “one of a kind” and our contractor actually got the job, because he promised that he could make something exactly like that!
One of the things we love the most, is our location on top of the hill above Playa Pelada, because is gives us the most beautiful view, the breezes from the ocean and a lot of peace and quiet, because unless you have errands up there, there is no reason to go there! For total privacy and security, tall fences and walls surround the property. We installed a “whole house” A/C system in this condo (that was an adventure!!) because we thought we needed it, but so far we have really only turned it on to check that it works.

We love it! Trailing the monkeys, bouncing up the roads, afternoon and midnight rain showers, everything is ‘us’! This is our first stop in finding a permanent home here in Nosara and now we have a great idea of what we want. Banda House is lovely, one of the nicest rentals we have ever had. We especially appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into stocking the kitchen. The setting here – pool, rancho etc. is lovely. We have many great memories to take back with us to the cold US winter we return to.

Well, unfortunately our stay has come to an end. We came to Costa Rica to get away from the cold Alberta winters. We love the house. Thank you for allowing us to use your accommodations. It provided the peace and tranquility we were looking for. Weather was great. The roads however are awful. We met some wonderful people that will make this trip memorable.

The nature is amazing and the view is gorgeous; the food is delicious and there is nothing that could have made our stay any better except more time here. A most enjoyable time was had by all here at Banda. The view is beautiful! Watching the birds, listening to the monkeys, swimming in the wonderful pool and the good food made the days complete! Hi Bibi & Arne My wife and I just returned to Canada after spending a month at Banda 1. We were there with another couple as well as a third couple who stayed in Banda 2 for 10 days. I cannot tell you how much we all enjoyed it. We have travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean and have never stayed in a condo equipped nearly as well as yours. Be assured that we did not abuse it, but treated as if we owned it. The condo layout and furnishings, the view from the balcony, the well maintained pool (Oscar does a terrific job...he is a keeper), the Costa Rica information provided were all terrific. As there is no oven we had requested a BBQ grill, which Alexa was able to provide. We made good use of it, as did some of the other guests, and would recommend one as a permanent addition to the complex. We all loved Costa Rica and (once we got past the road conditions and dust) loved Nosara. Thank you very much for the use of Banda 1. We hope to return soon. Sincerely B & P
