We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Kia Hale. There were 8 adults and 2 children (ranging from 90 to 9 months) that survived the week in this lovely retreat. We found the descripton and photos very accurate. Just be advised that there is no air conditioning, only the natural Hawaiian trade winds. However, we were gone to the beach or activities during the day so it was not too bad. Several ceiling and floor fans were able to provide a good level of comfort. The property was very clean and provided us enough room to not feel cramped. The two refrigerators, 2 sinks an 2 dishwashers were very handy. There is plenty of cooking utensils and serving pieces to accommodate everyone. In addtion, the full size washer and dryer were a life saver for the wet suits and towels. The Grand Hyatt is a five minute stroll down the green belt and has lovely grounds and views. Shipwreck beach out front of the Hyatt is not suitable for swimming or boarding. However, a 3-4 minute drive to Poipu beach is great for all ages and abilities. Brenneke's restruant with food. Mango margaritas and a deli is just accoss the street and is very convenient. A great time was had by all and looking forward to returning to paradise. Mahalo and Aloha.

Look no further - this is where you want to stay in Poipu. The pictures and description don't do it justice. This house is wonderfully clean, extremely well-equipped (all linens, towels, beach equipment, kitchen equipment, and loads more, including a lot of baby- and kid-friendly items), in a perfect location, and has a great floor plan and backyard for entertaining. We were a group of 5 adults and 2 young children and we had all the space we needed. We really couldn't have asked for more. Also, Bob (the owner) is very responsive to any emails, quickly returned our deposit, and was generally very nice to deal with. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Kauai!

I cannot say enough good things about this gracious, beautiful home. From the fresh Hawaiian flowers there on arrival(very classy) to the provision of anything you could possibly need to make your stay more enjoyable.( boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, water toys, sand toys for the kids, beach chairs, lots of beach towels, two coolers, washer and dryer, laundry soap, iron and ironing board, plenty of dishes ,glasses, cutlery and pots and pans,(we were nine people),spices, dvd's, books, games etc). The home was clean and comfortable and very spacious. The ceiling fans and extra fans in every room kept the house very comfortable. Even nicer than the pictures. The proximity to the beaches( greatest beach in the world, especially for kids) was very convenient and the area the house is located in is a very high end and safe feeling neighborhood with lots of well lit walking trails. The Hyatt is very close and their Sunday brunch was excellent. The owner was very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. All in all a GREAT vacation. We will do it again in the future. Thanks Bob!!

Pros: Many unexpected extras were available to us with this property. Beach towels, snorkeling masks/fins, coolers, beach chairs, body boards, sand toys for younger children and even laundry detergent. The property is spacious and very clean. Lots of privacy for all 5 bedrooms. Ceiling fans are in every room. There was usually a cool breeze coming in through numerous patio doors and screened windows. A short walk to Shipwreck Beach and a longer walk or short drive to Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach. Shopping and numerous restaurants were close by. The Grand Hyatt was a short walk away and their luau was unforgettable. Cons: They are minimal. I never did find the pool. The provided map was not very detailed in its directions, at least not for a novice to this resort area. The lack of air conditioning did make for uncomfortable sleeping in the smaller 2 bedrooms even with the additional plug-in fans. Yes, I would definitely rent this property again. Our stay here was a hit with our entire family. All 8 of us, from ages 2 1/2 to 60 enjoyed our week at Kia Hale.

Our group of seven fully appreciated the spaciousness, cleanliness, comfort level, fully equipped kitchen, video and audio equipment, and general overall quality of Kia Hale. There was more than enough room for us to gather in different rooms and also have space for those who were seeking a more quiet location for reading, napping, or listening to music. We wound up not ever using the large loft area that could easily accommodate several more people for sleeping. Within the house features were particularly important to us because several days the weather was not conducive to outdoor activity. The furnishings, decor, comfortable beds, and extensive recent tiling work on the floors all contributed to a very pleasant indoors experience when the weather did not cooperate. On pleasant days the private and peaceful backyard was another feature that could be fully appreciated. The location of the home allows easy walking access to several beaches, tennis courts, and the resort's swimming pool. Many interesting hikes can take place directly from the home. One quickly gets a feel for the surrounding roads and access to many of the island's most popular destinations is relatively easy. We shared meal planning and preparation, only going out for dinner one time. In addition to Costco, there are other grocery chains to meet your needs. Very good quality local fish and poultry can be purchased in the Koloa area. Numerous local farmers markets provide produce, including particularly good fruit selections. The kitchen, divided into two areas, provided much space for several people to be working at the same time. Everything was in good working order, and there was a large stock of silverware, dish ware, and small kitchen appliances The photos and video are quite recent and very accurately portray the property. The owner was very helpful both through telephone and email communication. The quality of the home clearly reflects pride of ownership and concern for the experience of renters. Kia Hale helped us have a good family vacation even though we ran into some uncooperative weather. The home provides a very comfortable setting for larger groups.

Our family had a wonderful time in your home. Thank you very much, we appreciated the cleanliness the spacious area, the location was perfect - in walking distance of Shipwreck Beach. It was extremely comforting and had all of the requirements necessary to feel at home. We did not lack a thing. We had a bit of a challenge checking out as we had different flight times for each of our party of 8, other than that it was perfect.

Pictures do not do justice for this beautiful vacation home. Excellent decorating taste and very clean. Our children had lot's of fun and really appreciated the beach toys that was provided as well as the Sega console. First thing they ran to was the loft to check out "their" space. Nice big dining room table for us to sit at altogether to talk about our adventures of the day. Loved the information book with suggestions of places to go and see. The guide to Kauai was extremely helpful in helping us decide our adventures. We would definately recommend this house to friends and family. Things that we really enjoyed was our Ocean Tour with Captain Andy's ( best whale watching experience ever), Luau at the Hyatt, Glass beach was really neat and Poipu Beach was great for everyone of all ages. It was neat to see the Monk Seals on the beach. Waimea Canyon is a must see as well. There is also a great pizza place in Waimea unbelievable pizza. It is joined beside the Wranglers Steak House. If your looking for something on the lighter side there was also a great deli reastaurant located in the Kukio Mall. Most amazing homemade soup and sandwiches. I believe it was called Deli and bread. Make sure you go there hungry as the sandwiches are huge. Our friends that we were with also did the helicopter tour with Safari and were very happy with their experience. We would not recommend going to see the Swinging Bridge nothing special at all. It was very sad for us to leave as we really felt at home, but we look forward to returning in the near future. Mahalo
