VILLA des OLIVIERS is sunny, open, welcoming, and private, yet only a short walk to the sought-after town of St. Remy de Provence. The home has four bedrooms, two full baths, and sleeps up to seven. Soaring ceilings grace the open fireplaced living room and adjoining dining room. French doors lead out to a private patio overlooking the olive grove and a stunning vista of Les Alpilles mountains. A large and well-equipped kitchen adjoins the living room and dining room. Four attractive bedrooms, two full baths, and a small office/studio are on the two floors in an adjoining wing.
St. Remy is a picturesque town with a notable history and many important historic sights. Van Gogh and many contemporary artists have been drawn to the mountains, the spring poppies, the vineyards, olive groves, and lavender fields that surround the area. The town itself is a ten-minute walk from the house and has many fabulous restaurants, galleries, chic shops, and open-air markets. Within walking distance too is Glanum, the ruins of a Gallo Roman town founded in the 300 B.C. And next door to Glanum is the famous hospital where Van Gogh spent his last days.
St. Remy's location is ideal for exploring Provence by foot, bicycle, or car. The famous G.R. hiking trail is three minutes from the house. Avignon is 20 minutes drive, Arles 30 minutes, Marseilles and the Mediterranean a mere 45 minutes.
