Our beautiful house is located in Cherry Valley, a 15-minute car ride from Cooperstown. Cherry Valley is a charming, historically important village that mixes an unspoiled rural landscape (on the national register of historic places) with sophisticated amenities that includes an excellent restaurant and a gourmet/natural food store.
Our house sits on a hillside on a dead-end road overlooking a 200-year-old dairy farm and the rolling blue hills beyond. In warm weather sit on the 100-foot, wraparound porch and enjoy coffee or cocktails or swing in the hammock under the backyard willow. Pick roses, apples, or vegetables and herbs from the garden. Stroll into the village and visit the galleries, the museum, antique stores, and the revolutionary war cemetery. In summer attend the free concerts given by young artists from the Glimmerglass Opera. In winter go cross-country skiing, skating, or tubing at nearby Glimmerglass State Park. Or, stay indoors by one of the four fireplaces or the wood-burning stove enjoying the elegant but comfortable decor and the spacious rooms.
This wonderful house, that is loved by everyone who visits, is perfect for large families, groups of friends, or anyone who loves space and unpretentious elegance. Perfect for baseball fans planning on visiting Cooperstown for the induction or Hall of Fame game (book early for those weekends) and 15 minutes to Glimmerglass Opera for opera lovers. Two world-class golf courses, boating, and swimming are all nearby. But be warned - you may have a hard time leaving the front porch!
The first floor has a very spacious kitchen and dining room with fireplace, very large comfortable living room with fireplace and a den/bedroom that sleeps two with a wood-burning stove and a full bathroom. The second floor has a large master bedroom with king-size bed and private bath, another very large bedroom with a double-size bed and a single (also with fireplace). This room shares a full bath with a single bedroom.
At the other end of the hallway are two bedrooms, one with a double-size bed, the other a single also sharing a full bath. There is also a fully equipped work-out room with treadmill, stationary bike, weight machine and more.The configuration of the house allows for maximum privacy for sharing. There is a four-car garage, a picnic pavilion, and a former summer kitchen stocked with wood for the fireplaces.
