This rental is a delight, especially because the rooms are spacious and really accommodate all 12 people. The kitchen has plenty of cooking implements and china, the linens are high quality and the cleaning staff is quite competent. There is a manager available on call should there be any issues with the property.I found the owner to be very organized and timely. She has a great system for handling the details. This is a highly desirable property, close to a bike path to the beach which passes over a lovely large lagoon, complete with alligators to watch. For nice dinners we like the Fat Hen on the Maybank Highway, and the grocery and shops at the entrance have most large stocks of supplies. Surf boards are available to rent in Charleston and the beach itself is spectacular....long and shallow going out with fine sand and there are several rental companies eager to set you up with umbrellas and chairs. Be sure to rent bikes!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a fabulous time at this house. Debbie, the owner, was wonderful, very responsive and helpful, giving us tips such as where to rent bikes and places to eat. The house is gorgeous and we loved the hot tub. It is within walking distance to two stretches of beach and there a tons of great restaurants nearby. Highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our experience was fantastic! Your house and accommodations were perfect, your proximity to the beach is quick and comfortable to get too and your house setting is secluded and private which provides a very relaxing atmosphere. We are a bit spoiled with the properties and travels we are blessed to be able to do throughout the years, and I must say you still over delivered and under promised. Thank you so much and it is our hopes you will have us back. Jeff and Johnel SearcyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Debby, Our family was very happy with the selection of your home for our family gathering in November. we all gathered for a family wedding. the living space was perfect, and Joey and i especailly loved the fabulous master suite so we could get away from the young adults who chose to stay up late talking. our small boys LOVED the dorm room and we were very happy they had it. we had extended family over one night for dessert and coffee and the dining room was perfect for that. the kitchen was big and had everything we needed. and the huge deck and hot tub----wow, if we were there in the spring or warmer weather we might never make it to the beach. thank you again for being so easy to work with. you made us feel very comfortable without inundating us with rules . you lovely home and the spacious areas made us feel welcome and it was easy to care for. thanks again. we look forward to another visit. Our family of 6 adults and 3 children had a marvelous time during our recent stay on Kiawah. As others have stated, the pictures do not do justice in conveying what a spacious home this is! Our grandsons loved their room, delighting in being able to go off to their own room with television and space galore. The crib came in handy for our granddaughter (yes, the closet off the master is huge -- bigger than a lot of bedrooms!). Our family loves to cook, and we appreciated all the dishes and cookware available for our use. The back deck is wonderful to sit on after a long day at the beach (even though we didn't see the resident alligator in the lagoon). Debby is a delight to work with, always available for any questions we had, and very organized in getting back to us with contract, etc. This house is a steal -- easy bike ride to the beach. We plan on returning as soon as we can!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in this house in May 2010 and it was spacious, clean, excellent location, with a fantastic kitchen area. Our family had plenty of room to spread out...love, love ,love the large room with 4 twins. The house was beautiful and the island is unspoiled with abundant wildlife. I would stay again in a heartbeat! I highly recommend! We really enjoyed the beaches and biking all over the island. Wonderful owner provided us with very helpful information. Thanks!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have a long history of gathering our large family (age 7 to 91) to spend an active week together at the beach. This was our third vacation on Kiawah Island and our second time in this home. In our experience, this home ranks at the top of our list of places for groups of 6 to 12 people. It's obvious that the owners put much of the rental income back into their property. Since our previous visit they’ve upgraded and improved the kitchen, the furniture, the mattresses, the décor, the landscaping and the televisions. The living spaces are arranged for comfort and conversation: those of us who value a quiet conversation can talk in the family room, on the deck or in the kitchen while others watch a giant TV in the living room. As the photos show, this home has been extraordinarily well cared for by the owners. We’re fortunate they share it with others.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I put together a group of 12 women for a long tennis weekend in February 2010. First of all, let me say that I felt that the value for what we received was outstanding! The house is spacious and built for entertaining. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. There are plenty of seating and dining areas for a large crowd. It is a beautifully decorated and immaculately clean property. The jacuzzi was a real plus after a long day of tennis. Also, the owner is such an accommodating and easy- to-deal with person. It was just a pleasure and I look forward to the opportunity to rent your beautiful home again in the future! Highly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Debby, we just had a wonderful family reunion at your house on Kiawah Island. The house was perfect for 11 adults and three small children. We loved watching all the birds and deer around the lagoon and enjoyed walks and bike rides on the beach. The little shopping village nearby was fun for lunch and shopping, not to mention the old fashioned soda fountain for ice cream. Being history buffs we also had time to visit some of the interesting sites in Charleston. If anyone visits at Christmas I recommend seeing the light display at James Island County Park.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Debby, We had a fantastic time at Kiawah and your house played a great part. We were very pleasantly surprised by how nice your house is (the pictures don't do justice to how large it is nor how nicely finished it is). We loved the large deck overlooking the lagoon, where we could watch all of the wildlife. Though our weather was mostly warm and sunny, we also enjoyed the hot-tub at night. We were there with 2 small kids and several adults and there was LOTS of space for all of us. In fact, my 3 year-old daughter got the second floor bedroom to herself and she loved putting one of her dolls or teddy bears in each of the 5 beds in her room. The crib and high chair were also appreciated by my 18-month old son.We arranged bike rentals in advance, on your recommendation, and they were waiting for us when we arrived. The short, but very cool, ride to the beach over the footbridges was a highlight for everyone.Too bad we had to leave after just a few days I suppose there is always next year…Thanks again,DougDid you find this review helpful? Hi Debby, I've been meaning to send a letter of appreciation since returning from Kiawah this summer, and alas, here it is! You have a wonderful home there and its has all the right touches for a family vacation. The space was perfect. we could put the little ones to bed, have nice large adult dinners, and enjoy the different living spaces for reading time, puzzle time, or just lounging. Thanks for sharing your space with us and we hope to return one day! Kirsten p.s. Stan was wonderful! He came by to check on the house, noticed us cramming into one car to leave the island and offered to share a ride! Very nice :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Debby, thank you for sharing your fabulous home with us and allowing our son and daughter-in-law to have their dream beach wedding on 04/04/09. The house was perfect and easily accommodated our out of town guests. We also had the bridal brunch and the rehearsal dinner catered at the house. The kitchen was well supplied and the large deck was great for entertaining. We would definitely rent this house again without hesitation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a great place for a family reunion, birthday celebration and Thanksgiving all in one week. We had 12 adults and one infant and never felt crowded. Kiawah Island is an amazing place for its recreation and natural habitat. We had access within minutes to the recreation – beach, golf, biking and the running paths were great. The home was spacious enough for a family gathering yet provided adequate space for individual and group activities – the deck, family room, living room and kitchen area were great places to get together. With several cooks in the kitchen, we were able to find everything we needed to prepare some great meals and not trip on one another. The sleeping arrangements were separate from the gathering spaces so those who wanted to retire early were able to get a good night sleep. We were also close enough to Charleston for a day trip and sightseeing and still get back to the peace and tranquility of the Island in the late afternoon. This was a perfect find and made for a memorable week!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The pictures did not do justice to this beautiful home!! Our entire group (8 friends) was so impressed and pleased with the accommodations. My reward for doing the search was that my husband & I got to use the master suite and his first words upon entering were "just go ahead and book it again for next year." I have stayed in a number of vacation rentals, but none so lovely, well furnished and equipped as yours. There was nothing needed that was not found in your magnificent kitchen. We found the information about the area provided to be very useful. We were very satisfied with the recommendations you made about restaurants. The men golfed four days, did some fly fishing in the lagoon while the ladies did marathon shopping and two trips into Charleston. Thanks for being such a superb hostess in absentia!!! Hope we can do it again sometime. NaomiDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

To Anyone considering renting 235 Glen Abbey…This home was perfect in so many ways. The bedroom arrangements easily accommodated multiple families (in our situation…my husband and three children, my mom, my dad and stepmother!) with a bit of separation and privacy for all. We actually had 4 beds to spare! All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and roomy. The master bedroom and bath were amazing. Our baby very happily slept in the walk-in closet about the size of his actual room at home! The kitchen is gorgeous…nicely stocked with plenty of utensils, appliances and necessities. We hosted a lovely Thanksgiving meal for 15 people. The layout of the kitchen and the family area allows for cooks and helpers to be able to participate in fun while still working. The living quarters were very cozy and comfortable. The two distinct social areas made it easy for a couple different activities to be going on – a football game on one TV, a kids show on the other, with puzzles and games being played all the while. We had glorious weather so were able to enjoy the deck, the hot tub and the view of the lagoon. Every sunny day we watched a huge alligator sunning himself (on the opposite shore!)We can’t wait for our next Thanksgiving on Kiawah! Sincerely, Julianne ArvizuDid you find this review helpful? Debby, Thank you again for the rental of your wonderful house. My family of 4 and two other families of four all stayed here for our kid's Spring Break. We could not of asked for a better choice of a house. We had so much room and the "dorm" room was our kid's dream. A place to hide out and have slumber parties. The beach was a quick bike ride away and the wondeful deck on the back with hot tub added to the great time. We have been coming to Kiawah for the last 15 years and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Thanks again and will we definitely be getting back with you another time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had 3 families stay for a week in this home. With 4 boys and 2 girls, the "loft" room was a perfect retreat for the kids by day, and the boys by night. The 3 large master rooms were very spacious for the parents. We ate in every night, alternating families cooking, and had plenty of dishes and such. It's a 5 minute bike ride to the beach. If you're traveling with several families - this home is a great option.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Debby, I just wanted to write and say how much we enjoyed your house. The decorations are beautiful and very welcoming for a family holiday. I grilled leg of lamb for Christmas dinner, and I was most impressed that your wonderfully stocked kitchen had a meat thermometer! My wife and I stayed at this house this past weekend with 3 other couples for the Kiawah half-marathon and had an excellent time. The house is spacious, extremely well-kept, and in the perfect location on Kiawah. Most importantly, it had very comfortable beds to rest some tired bodies after the race. The home owner was very accomodating with directions and recommendations on things to do. Could not have asked for a better experience and we will come back to this property soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from a fantastic week at this beautiful and spacious home! We have been vacationing at Kiawah for the past 28 years and it is by far our children's (grown) favorite vacation spot. The house provided plenty of room for all our family needs. The kitchen is open and spacious - perfect for the many cocktail hours and dinners that we enjoyed every evening. With the spacous layout of the bedrooms, each person was able to retire, or rise whenever they wanted without disrupting the whole group (very important with 19-25 year olds!) We look forward to our 2007 vacation at the same home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We've just returned from our 11th Easter on Kiawah Island, and our first stay at 235 Glen Abbey. We were three familes, each with two boys (who range in ages 5 to 15). What a perfect home for our group! The four oldest boys loved the "dorm room" and all the children enjoyed the beach and the hot tub. The adults enjoyed the spacious kitchen for cocktails and conversation (and the hot tub when we were allowed in by the boys)! The home is comfortable and roomy, the neighborhood is quiet and the lagoon quite peacful. The Coleman's home is just what we were hoping for, and more. We're looking forward to staying at 235 Glen Abbey next year for our 12th Easter on Kiawah Island!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent our most wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday ever in this lovely Kiawah home. This spacious, beautifully decorated house has all the comforts of home... but with all the extras you look forward to in a resort setting. From peacefully relaxing in the hot-tub on the porch, lagoon-side amongst the trees, to biking and walking the island's fabulous trails and beach, to preparing our Thanksgiving dinner in the well-stocked kitchen, to a delightful day-trip into Charleston -- our week couldn't have been more perfect. We loved our stay in your home March 19-26, 2005! It was perfect for our 2 families (3 kids each, ages 12-24, plus girlfriend and boyfriend). We could all be together in the kitchen area when we wanted, and we all had private space when needed. The lagoon was beautiful. And the hot tub and deck really saved the day when it was windy, cool or rainy (we usually spend most of our time at the beach). This was by far the best house we've stayed in with a large group.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The house was clean, spacious, comfortable and well laid out. We ran the Kiawah Island Marathon and were very thankful that the house had this large hot tub. It was fantastic sitting on the deck, in a tub, with the ice cold beer looking at the lagoon while the hot water relaxed our weary muscles. I also emjoyed how we could talk to Debby and her hisband with ease. It showed us that they really cared about our stay. We will certainly rent the house out again next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This home shows great attention to detail in its appointments and its beautiful decorating and landscaping . There is no need to argue over who gets what bedroom – they are all large, private and very pretty. Take turns cooking in the stylish and spacious kitchen. After 15 years of vacationing in Kiawah, our oldest daughter decided Kiawah was the only place for her wedding!. The plans for a small intimate ceremony and reception were underway. The Colemans gratiously approved the use of the house for our reception for 50 people. It was perfect and spectacular! The outside decking and the layout of the house was ideal. It was homey, comfortable, and beautiful. We loved it and so did the rest of the crowd. We arrived a couple days ahead of time, and had a few days afterwards to unwind. The 8 of us who stayed at the house found it to be large enough to have the privacy that we wanted, but cozy enough to allow us to reconnect, since we were from various parts of the county. We thoroughly enjoyed the area, and would definately stay at the house again. In fact, I think we had lots of Kiawah Island converts, since many of the attendees had never visited before. Thanks to the Colemans for the perfect setting - it made Kim and Don's special day very memorable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

After a long journey down to Kiawah,we drove into the driveway of 235 Glen Abbey, entered the front door and knew we were "home." This lovely place provided a haven for everyone in our extended family of three generations, including my in-laws from England. From the warm and spacious kitchen to the wide and inviting deck, everyone found a place that was special for them. Each day, after spotting exotic morning birds having breakfast by the backyard pond and the twin fawns across the way, our party went out in different directions - some to the beach, others on a bike ride, yet others into Charleston. But every evening we all gathered on the deck for glasses of wine and sharing of our day's adventures. Long dinners around the large kitchen table lasted into the night. The children could sneak off to late night T.V. in the dorm room while the adults could snuggle in the living room or chat while cleaning up the dishes, with that last bottle of wine. Highlights of our trip included spotting a sea turtle in the surf while on a late-night beach bike ride and that wonderful master bathroom! We had a lovely and memorable vacation and this home provided the perfect vessel for our family to meld. We certainly hope that we can return again some day!Did you find this review helpful? What a fabulous time we had staying at the Coleman House! The living space was especially open and inviting for all of our group to visit together or just have a quiet conversation. The placement of the bedrooms in the house gives exceptional privacy while each bedroom was very spacious with chairs for reading or relaxing and large closet space. The evenings on the deck overlooking the lagoon or in the hot tub were the best! I am looking forward to spending many more vacations at this beautiful home. It is exceptional!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This home is so spacious, comfortable, and beautiful, I would buy it on the spot completely furnished. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay memorable. Even in the rain, you’d have a good time in this house! It’s kept meticulously, and on a scale of 1 to 10, it rates an 11! If you like to ride bikes, a service will deliver state of the art bicycles with convenient seat adjustment levers to your door, and then pick them up when you’re finished.(Basketsand bike locks available.) It doesn’t get any better, or easier than this! I’ll be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

An absolutely great vacation home. Four couples with very fussy requirements (rooms, bathrooms, beds types, total size, minimum stairs, etc) did nothing but rave about how nice it was and how special all the small things like color schemes, decorations, art work, and even the types and makes of appliances in the kitchen were. Wives told us husbands that we may find other great golf vacation locations, but they would prefer to come back to the Coleman's home on Kiawah.....with or without us. I recommended it without reservation to all our friends and to all who would be patient enough to listen about our wonderful vacation. Total value for the money unmatched by the more than 300 plus homes considered.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Three generations of our family (13 in all) gathered at your lovely home for our annual reunion and had such a wonderful time! It's impossible to describe the privacy afforded, despite our large group. The house is beautifully appointed, the surroundings soothing, and the short walk to the beach easy. We're so delighted to have found you, and look forward to next year's retreat. Many thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is an absolutely FABULOUS home large enough to accomodate married children and grandchildren. Three different families with tots can easily be comfortable in this large quiet home (works well during nap times). As a grandparent, I plan to bring my entire extended family every year as our getaway vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Although there are many ammenities to be enjoyed about this house, I found myself looking forward to the evening hours spent cooking and visiting with friends. The kitchen is a fantastic gathering place and is large enough to accommodate a large group of cooks and supervisors. The "heart" of this house has definitely won my heart!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Excellent, comfortable accomodations for a large family. The hot tub was a nice bonus. The island itself is beautiful, and the house was within easy walking or driving distance of all of the amenities. Would highly recommend this house as a rental for a family or large party.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Your home is absolutely wonderful for a large group. We were a party of eight women and we had plenty of space - large living areas, kitchen, laundry room, deck, and bathrooms. I was fortunate to be able to sleep in the "dorm room" which was delightful. We had a great time. Thanks for sharing your home with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for a wonderful week at Kiawah. With 32 family members spread out in three different homes we feel that our house on Glen Abbey was by far the best! Spacious, bright, and very well maintained, the home had plenty of room to accommodate all 12 of us without feeling crowded. The lovely master suite with it's huge bath and closet made my parents want to stay another week. All the bedrooms were large and perfect for children or adults of all ages. The kitchen was fully equipped and had everything we could ever want. The entire house is tastefully decorated without being pretentious, the perfect combination for a week at the beach. With a hot tub, oversized laundry room, and a great location (just a short walk or bike ride from the beach) we were the envy of the rest of our relatives!! We look forward to future visits to 235 Glen Abbey. Sincerely, Kathy WarrenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Glen Abbey home was spacious, comfortable and beautiful. The 2nd floor room was great for the 4 children and they used it as their playroom as well. The large living room was a wonderful place for the family to gather. The home was an easy bike ride to the beach even with smaller children. All the bedrooms were comfortable and large. This home made our Kiawah experience truly enjoyable. In addition, the large veranda/porch was an excellent place to relax in the evenings with the lovely view of the lagoon. I would highly recommend the rental of this home to anyone.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
