Restored Plantation Manager's Cottage, Two Doors from Beach
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Kamewile Cottage, is an original sugar plantation manager’s cottage, lovingly renovated and beautifully appointed in Island Style. It features a new fully-equipped kitchen, new bath, two spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room, lanai, and landscaped garden. Its nine and a half foot ceilings, giant airy windows, original crown moldings and wainscoting, original wood floors, and tropical ceiling fans in each room give you the feeling of 'paradise of old.'
The home is in Kekaha, the sunniest area of Kauai boasting the longest white sand beach in the Hawaiian Islands. This is the true Hawaii, away from the tourist-filled beaches and stores, where church services and grocery-store conversations are still heard in the Hawaiian language. Yet great restaurants, grocery, farmers market, shops, art galleries, and great Kauai outdoor activities are minutes away. Kekaha is at the doorway to Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, famous for its hiking opportunities and vistas of the Napoli coastline.
THE PERFECT WEST SIDE LOW-KEY DAY:
Awake for coffee on the garden lanai.
Take a morning walk on the longest white sand beach on Kauai.
Stop for lunch at the Lodge at Kokee before an invigorating hike in Waimea Canyon.
Wash off your hiking muscles in the outdoor hot shower.
Stroll two doors down to the beach, cocktail in hand, to watch the island’s best sunset.
Prepare a light supper in the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen.
Then sleep peacefully in your pillow-top king and queen beds with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets.
Kamewile Cottage is rented under NCU certificate #TVNC-4216.

I had this property bookmarked on my computer for a few years. I knew when we went to Kauai this would be the place for us to stay. We were not disappointed. Pam, the owner was very easy to work with and she definitely saw to every detail. We stayed two weeks and wish we could have stayed longer. The property is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen has all the necessities to cook a great meal plus an outdoor gas grill. The cupboards were stocked with spices. The home was spotless and the yard was blooming with flowers. The outdoor shower was fun and it was nice to have the washer and dryer on site. Some great restaurants were close such as The Beach House, Pomodoro's and the Shrimp Station. Weimea canyon was close and we suggest SaltbPond park for swimming. Costco in about 45 mins away and we stopped for food and gasoline as it was the best prices around (35-40 cents cheaper per gallon on gas). I wish we could rated this home more than 5 stars. It will be a pleasant memory of your Kauai vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We sought a warm and friendly, sun-soaked experience off the beaten-path in Kauai and found it. Days were filled with sand and surf, and our home base was the most welcoming and comfortable cottage in a quiet, private setting. All of us were extremely happy with the Plantation Managers Cottage and all of it's amenities. Kekeha is small town (perfect for us), the cottage was immaculately clean and move-in ready (perfect for us), the details throughout the cottage were beautiful and so very comfortable (perfect for us). This cottage had it all and made our 6-night stay so easy and wonderful. Can't say enough about the top-notch quality of this place. We highly recommend it and will come again for our next wintertime escape to Kauai.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We stayed here for a week over Christmas and it was perfect! Such a charming cottage with beautiful furnishings, luxurious linens, wonderful beds, big beautiful windows that open for the breeze to blow through, very well stocked lovely kitchen and everything was immaculately clean. The yard is so private and lush and the outdoor shower was such a treat...my daughter and I had so much fun looking for gecko's! We loved sunny Kekaha...it was so close to Waimea Canyon where we went on a couple of beautiful hikes and Polihale State Park was stunningly beautiful...we also loved Salt Pond Beach. We rented a Jeep which was great for driving on the beach at Salt Pond and Polihale...very fun! Some of our favorite eating spots were Paco's Tacos in Hanapepe, Grove Cafe in Waimea and Brennecke's Beach Broiler in Poipu. Pam was so nice to deal with and really does want everyone to have the best experience...it's so obvious in the attention to detail...even the boogie boards, beach chairs and coolers were in excellent condition. Love this place so much...will definitely stay here again. Thanks for sharing with us Pam!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were only here 5 days. It wasn't enough. I want to live here for a few months at least, if not the rest of my life. Seriously, this place is amazing. Quite, peaceful, beautifully maintained, nicely stocked, easy to access. I know all the other reviews say it's awesome too. It really is. Stay here, don't hesitate anymore. If you like to get away from tourist-ville and see how the locals live, be near amazingly beautiful vistas, miles of shoreline, lots of sun, 81 degrees and some great restaurants, come here. Best I could tell the best snorkeling is about a 30-40 drive - not bad. I highly recommend Capt Andy's tours (sunset and snorkel) and Jack Harter Helicopters (a drive for all of those, but oh so worth it). Ok, back the the cottage, as you can see, we did too much to enjoy it to it's full potential. I can't explain how cute this place is. It's even cutter than the photos and they are cute! I'll stop here. Rent this place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were two couples travelling together and we stayed at Kauai for 3 nights. The cottage is beautifully decorated and was just the perfect place for us to stay. It was very clean and well-maintained and everything, from the location to the rental's appearance and amenities, is reflected accurately in the description. We loved waking up to the sound of the ocean and enjoying breakfast and BBQ on the little porch. Also, Pam was always very helpful answering our questions and responded as soon as possible. During our trip to Hawaii we also spend a couple of days on Maui and Oahu, but Kauai is definitely our favorite! Weimea Canyon so close to the cottage and the beautiful beaches along the North Shore. We also did a helicopter flight, which was just amazing. We will come back :) Thanks again Pam for sharing your lovely cottage with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Such a wonderful cottage located in a quite area of Kauai. Wonderful way to wind down from a week of the busyness of Honolulu and several days visiting other islands via a cruise. Not that that was bad though. Loved this base camp as a way to explore the garden island. A very comfortable and well appointed get away. See you next year for an extended stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks. The cottage was exactly as pictured. We had a wonderful time. We love to hike so being close to the Canyon was perfect. We loved being able to hear the birds and the sounds of the ocean and taking long walks on the beach. We had everything we could possibly need or want. Pam and Sarah were wonderful to work with and made us feel right at home. We look forward to returning soon and hope this cottage is available. We felt right at home and highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and the cottage was absolutely perfect! The pictures are accurate, although they cannot quite capture the beauty, romance, tranquility, and cleanliness of this cottage. It was exceptionally clean and exceptionally easy to work with the owners to arrange arrival/departure. We loved the breezes coming in through the windows, having relaxing breakfasts on the front porch, and sitting in the lawn chairs out in the yard to gaze up at the stars. The owners have literally thought of everything you could need, and everything is of very nice quality. The beds are very comfortable and the outdoor shower is a great bonus. The cottage is in a great location - a stone's throw from the ocean, and a short drive to the canyon and Polihale State park. It's close to everything, but you feel very secluded and private with the landscape and layout. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here more nights! This place has got to be the best deal on the west side, if not the whole island - great place for couples and also ideal for larger groups. the bedrooms, living room, and kitchen are so spacious. We hope to stay again and can't recommend it enough!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Our family visited Kauai for the beginning of our Hawaiian vacation. The cottage was absolutely perfect. With the breeze blowing in in the windows, plenty of room for the 4 of us, the sound of the ocean, breakfast, dinner and family games on the porch, star-gazing in the yard at night, well-equipped kitchen, and outdoor shower, this place was fabulous. The chairs and boogie boards were great for heading out to the beach and it was an easy drive to the canyon. Look no further for a quiet spot to stay!Did you find this review helpful? My husband was doing some work at PMRF--a long distance from the nearest hotels in Poipu. This was a great location as well as a wonderful house! We loved everything--the well equipped kitchen, the porch, the king sized bed, the green lizards (outside). The pictures are great, but the house is even better. We would recommend this highly to anyone looking for the old days of the real Hawaii. Took a helicopter ride over Kauai--amazing. A must do for everyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
