We truly enjoyed our get-away with the kids for a long weekend. We all kind of went through withdrawls of no internet, cell phones, or cable....but it gave us time to play lots of board games and cards. We also brought a DVD collection with us. Master bedroom was terrific. Loft bedrooms weren't quite what we were expecting. Thought they would be seperate rooms and the mice in the ceiling in the loft became quite active at night, but we made due. Wood stove kept the place nice and toasty. Hot tub was fun. Didn't use the fire pit too much..it got a little too chilly at night. Never did catch any of those fish down in the stream! It was a great experience for us. Thank you.

Bad service, bad smell and rodent poop in the cabin. Many insects. Unfair treatment to the customers. This place is unattainable when raining (except 4x4 vehicle).
Owner response:Note: this family is being vidictive after trashing the cabin and leaving the cover off the hot tub all the time and burning up the circuit bd. We have a $1300 repair bill for the tub. Please our other excelllent reviews for the real review. We had to keep their damage dep. That did not nearly cover the bill. They are upset we kept the deposit. Thank you

Three of us stayed for three nights-should have rented for a week. The cabin is secluded and peaceful, and at this time of year (late May) surrounded by green and very private-the pictures here don't do the surroundings justice. We enjoyed the hot tub and the woodstove. Things I always worry about when renting a cabin long distance: The cabin is very clean and still smells delightfully of the lumber it was built with. The kitchen is stocked with nearly everything we needed and all the heating, appliances, water pressure/temperature were in tip-top operating condition. Specific to this cabin was concern with fording the creek in a rented Chevy Impala (not really ideal for off-roading); just take it really slow and you will be fine! I'd suggest bringing food/supplies for the night and breakfast the next AM. The closest grocery is a bit of a drive, and you'll want to relax and enjoy this cabin right from the start. Thanks, Joel!

A lovely wooden cabin which met our expectations and was comfortable for our family of five to stay at for our week's holiday. Very peaceful and perfectly located for the local scenary in both Wisconsin and Iowa. Many thanks!

The cabin does not have A/C for those that may have an issue with this. The kitchen amenities are far below standard. The seating only accomodates four but beds to accomodate eight so just be aware. The serenity is next to none. Be prepared for critters!
Owner response:Thanks for your review- Please note that trees abound and shade the cabin very well to keep it cool. The seating she talks about is in the living room, where space does not permit a larger set-up but chairs are avail. to make sure all have a seat. Kitchen table is perfect for 8 to sit. The kitchen items have been added as needed though it is very hard to predict every item a guest will need. I wish we had a crystal ball! The critters are great: deer, fox, possum, and many birds abound. Thanks for your interest in staying with us.

We had such wonderful time at the cabin. Those seven nights were so relaxing and peaceful. The cabin itself is so beautiful and comfortable. Our pooches had a blast running up the bluffs and in the creek. We can't wait to come back! Thanks Joel! :)

We love this cabin!! Had a wonderful 13th anniversary here, very quite & secluded. To hear the eagles high in the trees is just beautiful. This is our second year coming to Desoto, we will continue the tradition! Thanks for sharing this wonderful cabin!

Our family decided to do away with the materialistic Christmas this year. We decided to rent a cabin and spend quality time together instead. Our stay at this cabin was fantastic. The accomodations fit our needs and made our stay a very pleasant experience. Our kids enjoyed the hot tub while Gramma and Papa got to spend time with our grandchild. We had a 10" snow fall while we were here which just added to the ambience. We had six adults and one baby in our group and found that we all had enough space and weren't in each other's face all the time. If everything goes well in 2008 we plan on doing it again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Every year we get together at a cabin or campground with friends of ours from MN. This is one of the best cabins we have rented. The scenery is beautiful (reminded us of West Virginia) and the seclusion peaceful. The kids enjoyed playing on the edge of the stream and checking out all the neat aquatic insects and other critters. Thanks.

Dear Joel,We loved your cabin and our husbands were awed by the woodwork and interior design. We especially liked the warmth of your fireplace and view from the loft windows. The creek was a challenge for one of our cars, but we learned to navigate and enjoy it’s beauty. October temps and rain kept us out of the hot tub, but we still enjoyed great meals and card games in the kitchen. We look forward to another visit and give it an A+ rating to others whom might be considering trying your cabin. Thanks again for great get-away.

Dear Joel, We had a great time at the cabin. It was everything we thought it would be and more! The scenery was fabulous, the seclusion was all we could ask for, and it was great to get away. The well stocked kitchen was helpful, and the hot tub was enjoyed by all. We had eight (8) people that stayed and we felt like we had our own space. I would come again in a minute and thanks again for trusting people to stay in such a place you appear to have put your heart into. The decor inside the cabin was homey! Thanks again.

The cabin is great and would recommend it to anyone interested in a quality stay. Our top three expectations when we rent a place are: 1). Cozy and comfortable 2). Quality bed 3). Quiet surroundings And the cabin met all three and then some. Everything we needed was provided and we hope to come back. The McKinney's, Sturgeon Bay, WI

Our group rented both cabins in this picturesque land. We found some great trails in Wyalusing State Park and the Effigy Mounds in Iowa. Thanks for a great get away. The Mississippi bluffs are beautiful any time of the year, but they seem especially nice in the fall.

The cabin is great, and well equipped. Our only suggestions for things to put in would be some inexpensive wine glasses and a blender (we brought our own blender and glasses). Ken

We left the cabin in excellent condition, and you should find no need to keep our security deposit. Thanks for letting us stay, and thanks for the muffin mix.
