Adapted to Hawaii's ocean environment, this two-story holiday rental home is perfect for the sun-loving traveler with family and friends of all ages. From the large dining lanai overlooking the ocean, you can view spectacular sunsets or watch for spinning dolphins. This is a real Hawaiian neighborhood unlike the Waikiki experience.

Due to the Leeward Coast's dry climate, plan to spend most of your vacation in sun or beach activities. Cast for fish from the reef in front, walk a few steps to the protected swimming beach at Pokai Bay, or surf at the Army Rec Beach, a five minute walk beyond. Big wave surfers are four miles from famed Makaha Beach. Both tennis and golf are within five miles. Nature lovers will enjoy the hike to Kaena Point to see the albatrosses. For those interested in Hawaiian culture, you can walk two hundred yards along the beachfront to an authentic heiau.

Secured atop nine-foot high concrete columns, this house was specifically designed to withstand tsunami waves and hurricane winds. Below is a closed two-car garage with elevator to the second floor living area. The high ceilings and large arched doorways onto the lanais give this home an open, airy feel. Artfully colored concrete floors are easy to keep clean. There is an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand and a spa tub in the master suite for relaxation. Other features include high-speed internet access, digital television cable with TVO, security system, table tennis and croquet set.

Library, post office, drugstore, video rental, groceries, 25 restaurants, and two banks are all within an easy ten minute walk.

Year Purchased: 2001

Hi,
I am a builder of homes, airplanes, cars, motorcycles, and guitars. I am also an artist working with metal and acrylic paints. My vacation rental is mostly an art project for me. It had to be substantial, but also allow me freedom to design and decorate. My wife and I use it for our getaway place when it is not rented.

Why the Owner Chose Waianae

We didn't just buy it, we built it. This location was chosen by searching the internet for vacant lots near the ocean. When we discovered how close this was to everything including resturants, stores, and the beach, we thought it was great! This is the hotter dryer side of Oahu and we live on the wet jungle side, so it makes a good change of scene.

The Unique Benefits of this Large Beach House

First and foremost there is the short distance to the beach. We swim and snorkle. We also like to have our friends come stay with us. The large kitchen and lanai make it easy to have several people cooking and never feel crowded. Getting up early and watching the fish, dolphins, and whales is also fun. We gather sea shells at low tides. We have even had dolphins come and swim with us once.

    • This was an amazing house- beautiful location, great amenities like an outdoor shower, well stocked kitchen, internet access, etc. We were able to walk to a calm swimming beach two blocks away, and had the waves crashing across the street from us. Waianae is an area of Oahu that tends to be more locals and almost no tourists, which is a really good thing if you want to experience Hawaii away from the crowds. The owner took the time to show us the house and point out interesting things to do and places to eat in the area. We will definitely plan to stay here again when we return to Oahu.

    • The atmosphere of this house was exactly what we had been looking for. The spacious and open floor plan made it a cosy place to relax while whale watching from our own patio! It was clean and stocked with all the amenities for a Hawaii vacation (the boys love the ping pong table). It even had fresh herbs in the outside garden to cook with! We loved that we could open up the patio doors and feel the ocean breeze while we dined. We loved it so much we've already booked our second stay!!

    • Our group stayed here over the holidays. This was an awesome house to stay in. It easily accomodated our large group, and its one of the better equipped house's I've rented over the year's. Everything was in place, right from the key's, instructions, kitchen utensils, trash bags, foil, paper products...I could go on and on. The view from the huge lanai was great, and there was plenty of parking space for the multiple cars our group had rented. The high-speed internet worked well, its a wired connection. The beach is very close by and there was this grocery store about 5 mins walk (much cheaper than the larger chain stores we shopped initially at). The only downside, if it really should even count, is the distance from the activities in Oahu like Hanauma Bay, North Shore and Diamond Head. We did end up doing quite a bit of driving around and some of the kids in the group would get restless. Overall, I would gladly rent this house again from Dan if I visit Oahu again. Thanks, Dan, for the great rental experience.

    • Thank you Jesus for finding us this beautiful home that Dan and Sue poured alot of Aloha into. The home is built to last and it is designed beautifully,inside and out.. My father who is 80 yrs. old and is hawaiian took one look at this house and said "this is a strong house". The views are spectacular, there was a seal that was watching us from the bay. At night the sounds of the surf lulled us to sleep. Our next door neighbor gave us fresh bananas straight from the tree one morning. We will return, God willing, for this home is beautiful.

    • We were here for about 11 wonderful days. We saw dolphins,sting ray and a moray eel. Plenty of people surfing and a little quiet beach about a 5 minute walk. It was beautiful every day we were here. Dan and Sue were great too. Very easy to get around. Grocery store in walking distance. The main road goes right to the airport. beautiful scenery also. I cant wait to go next year. Thanks Dan and Sue!
