Southporte Suite

We cannot say enough about how incredible this property was to rent. It was immaculate, beautiful and in the heart of a great neighborhood. The condo was well-stocked, comfortable and really spacious. Teri made everything very simple upon arrival and checkout. We had off-street parking, friendly neighbors and were only 1 block from the train stop. In any direction you could walk and absorb the great, vibrant community, not to mention catch a cubs game. Having been to Chicago many times, we are now certain that we would not stay anywhere else other than one of her condos.

Wonderful

My family does not do a lot of traveling so when we had to travel to Chicago for a wedding, my son suggested we stay at the Henderson St. property instead of a motel. I was hesitant at first because you don't always know if you can believe what you see in the pictures. But we were so pleasantly surprised because it was even nicer than what the pictures show. The decorating was beautiful and the accomodations were wonderful. Teri was so good to work with and it just took all the stress out of planning our trip. Being close to the El was really handy for us and it was nice to leave our vehicles parked in the garage. I would recommend these accomodations to anyone and I can't wait for an excuse to go back.

Second stay in the Southport Suite

Guest: Lois (Saint Paul, Minnesota)
Date of Stay: 04/29/11 Review Submitted: 05/17/11

My family had another great visit at the Southport Suite in Chicago. Our first experience was so positive we felt fortunate to be able to reserve this location a second time. With two and a half baths, decks off the kitchen and Master bedroom and a very well stocked kitchen with dishes, a variety of glassware, pots and pans and serving pieces, it is the perfect environment for family and friends to meet and relax. Parking is made worry free with the garage and parking passes. Internet access is also available. The house is sparkling clean, warm and inviting. The location is close to shopping and restaurants. One of the helpful items in the house is a very complete guide to restaurants, stores, museums and events in the area. So for tourists it makes day trips easy. We would highly recommend this condo and its owner to friends and family. We look forward to our next opportunity to stay there. Lois London

Chicago Spring Break April 2011

Guest: nikki (Detroit, Michigan)
Date of Stay: 04/17/11 Review Submitted: 04/29/11

My family and I recently stayed in the Southport suite. The house was absolutely beautiful. We loved every room in the house. We didn't need to bring anything but our clothes. Teri provided two cribs, baby gates and a high chair, which any parent knows having to bring all of those things is such a hassle, so the fact that those items were already there made our lives so much easier. The area that the house was located in was very clean and safe. The subway system was very close by so we didn't need to use our car to get around town. I loved everything so much it made me want to move to chicago and buy a home. Our family would definately recommend staying in any of the homes that Chicago Guest House has to offer. We can't wait to come back. Thanks Terri

A Unanimous YES!

Date of Stay: 10/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/25/10

What a wonderful experience! This is the third time I've stayed at the Chicago Guest House and I have never been disappointed. The beds are comfortable, the house was well supplied with whatever you could need, the space was more than adequate and the ambiance was charming. My friends and I enjoyed the shopping in the immediate area (just two blocks from where we stayed). We did our part to stimulate the economy! We patronized 3 of the local restaurants and the food was spectacular at a very reasonable price. The choices of cuisine were varied and one could find a type to please every palate. We had several questions about various things and Teri was always accessible to solve our issue, ie: the computer network, taxi access, TV. The only negative aspect of this facility is the steps. Although the four of us are in our 60's we had no problem with them. However, if you have difficulty with steps this might not be your best choice. In conclusion, I just can't say enough positive things. We're already planning our next year's vacation and the Chicago Guest House is our choice for accommodations.

Like having your wealthy uncle let you stay at his home while he is out of town. Very comfortable!!

Date of Stay: 10/14/10 Review Submitted: 10/20/10

As someone who travels frequently, and tends to stay at upscale hotels, rental condos and resorts, it takes a lot to impress me. This past weekend my family and I stayed at the Southport Suite in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood. I was not only impressed, I was totally amazed. First, the suite itself was gorgeous. The decorating is warm and inviting, and the layout is extremely comfortable, from the large living room, to the stylish dining room, to the well equipped kitchen, to the comfortable bedrooms on the upper level, to the cozy study with a leather wrap around couch. It was like walking into a house on a tour of designer homes, or staying at your wealthy uncle’s house while he is out of town. There were no shortcuts: there was a beautiful walk in shower and a jetted tub. Secondly, the suite was so well furnished and equipped, that I could not think of one thing that I had at my own house that was not available to me at the suite. There was every possible kitchen tool that one might need. There were high-end pots and pans and knives, and even TWO fondue sets. There were high chairs and cribs in the closets, and even a humidifier. There were basic (and some not so basic) spices in the cupboard. It was not that sterile feeling that one often gets at other rental condos, where the only things there are second hand pots and pans, flimsy cutlery and salt pepper and sugar. Thirdly, the neighborhood cannot be beat. The area along Southport is a vibrant area with great shops and restaurants. There is easy access to the subway, and great food stores. The suite is located in a beautiful neighborhood on a block with stately homes. There are two decks that are furnished with a table and chairs on one, and with deck chairs on the other. Finally, things could not have been easier dealing with Teri to make the reservation, coordinate the arrival, and handle the departure. The guide book in the unit has more information than one could ever digest, with sections on restaurants by cuisine, shopping, things to do in Chicago and in the neighborhood, useful tips like daily specials at all of the nearby restaurants, menus from most restaurants, a multitude of local and city maps and personal favorites from Teri. This experience left me with the same feeling that you get when you arrive at the airport and find out that you have been upgraded to first class. I will definitely return when in Chicago.

The Best Vacation Ever

Guest: Dee (Tucson, Arizona)
Date of Stay: 09/14/10 Review Submitted: 10/07/10

If five stars is wonderful, this one gets six stars because it is perfect. In the past we have returned to the midwest for an exhausting marathon of driving to visits with friends and family, living out of suitcase and endind up exhausted. This year we did something different, we rented this wonderful two-level, three-bed condo in a perfect area of Chicago and said, "Come on down." The condo, the furnishings, the neighborhood (at least 50 restaurants within walking distance) were a hit with all ages. So much a hit, in fact, that the whole family wants to do it all again next year. The metra brown line around the corner deposited us just one block from the Chicago Institute of Art, took my daughter all the way from and to Midway airport, and folks to the train station--all for $2.25. My favorite thing--the fabulous master suite with the best walk-in closet ever. So much better than a suitcase.

A LOVELY STYLISH HOUSE IN A GREAT LOCATION!

Guest: TimandAnge (Nottingham, England)
Date of Stay: 07/29/10 Review Submitted: 09/21/10

We stayed for an all-to-brief week in August, when the city was hot, and the house was wonderfully cool. It's fully and very comfortably equipped, quiet, spacious and spotless. West Henderson Street is a perfect location. This elegant tree-lined street is classy and convenient, being yards from the boutiques and bistros on Southport, and a short walk from the El, which can take you directly downtown. We also walked from the house to the lakeshore and then along to the Navy Pier, with wonderful views of the city.

This place had everything promised and more

Guest: Ray (Aurrora, il)
Date of Stay: 09/25/09 Review Submitted: 09/08/10

The property was beautiful. Our only regret was that we did not have more time to enjoy all the amenities provided. The house was very well decorated and the kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you would need. The house was very spacious. There were six adults and we had plenty of space to hang out and enjoy each others company. The neighborhood vibrant and everything was within walking distance restaurants, bars, grocery store was a bit of a walk but very doable. This is great location to base yourself out of if you are going to visit Chicago and all it has to offer. The trains and buses are only a few minutes away and Wriglet Field is very close by.
