Another comment from a renter this summer.... Another Enjoyable Stay in Frankfort The T's Southeastern Michigan Review Submitted: July 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 Our extended family of twelve enjoyed our return trip to this rental home in July '09 just as much as our initial stay in August '07. The kids had not stopped talking about the first trip and looking at pictures, so it was time to make a return visit. Togetherness is the main thing our family was looking for in this vacation. It is unusual to find a home capable of accomodating all twelve of us comfortably under one roof, but this home does it. The kids enjoy the huge room on the third level and were thrilled to find a ping pong table this year too. We were surprised to learn the home was built in the 1870s since it has all the modern conveniences. The hot water tank kept up well despite all the showers, laundry, etc. Showers/tubs could benefit from safety rails. We made daily trips to Glen's and prepared gourmet meals in the equipped kitchen every night (only missed a larger collander for pasta). The best feature of the home is the proximity to the beach, just three houses away...the convenience this affords is immeasurable. The Frankfort beach is absolutely fabulous. We are Michigan residents and never imagined such a beautiful beach was waiting for us in Frankfort. Lake Michigan is very cold...wetsuits are a good idea for little swimmers. The lighthouse and the sunsets provide a lovely, tranquil setting. The downtown Frankfort area is so quaint, clean, and well-landscaped. We enjoyed countless walks through town and visits to the little shops. We especially like The Cool Spot for ice cream/frozen yogurt because they have outdoor tables to enjoy your treats. The Fusion restaurant is another big hit with our family. Some of us also enjoyed daily walks/jogs along the Betsie trail beginning at the beach. The marina is a stunning backdrop for thosing passing by. Our favorite day trip was to the old fishing town of Leland (about 45 minutes north). It was interesting to see the historical town and there were a lot of restaurants and shops for tourists. The tour of Point Betsie Lighthouse was a highlight as was the Gwen Frostic printing press and gift shop (both very closeby). The owners clearly take great pride in this property, providing a clean home with a lovely flower garden. We noted the fresh paint job in the kitchen and front porch since our last visit. This time it was also great to have cable and internet. We hated to say goodbye to Frankfort and hope to return again soon. Rating: 5 out of 5

Peacful Getaway for the Entire Family Brigantu College Park, MD Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009 My elderly parents, I and my fiancee and his mother, and my sister and her boyfriend all spent a lovely week together in this beautiful house. The beach was steps from our door and there was a fabulous paved boardwalk perfect for strollers and wheelchairs. The town of Frankfort had everything we needed and was also within walking distance, so we left the cars parked most of our visit. The house itself was well-equipped. The only draw back was the steep flights of stairs leading to the upper levels -- these were not elder-friendly. That aside, the owners obviously took great care with decorating the house and truly making it a "home away from home." Examples of extra touches included full-size bottles of shampoo and conditioner in each shower and all the cleaning products, etc. that a family of seven would need for a full week's stay. Fresh flowers in vases greeted us on arrival and all of the beds were made with fresh linens. We felt right at home immediately and were not disappointed by the amenities in the least. We will return to this location in future years. It had everything we needed for a wonderful family getaway!

Several renters have added comments on another site. I am posting them here for your review. -Candace Sorensen, owner Retreat from Texas Heat Shannon W. Houston, TX Review Submitted: August 16, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009 This rental is not to be missed. There is not enough room here for all the little details this owner thoughtfully planned. Here are a few that were particularly meaningful to my family and me: - Water hose, bucket, and watering can by the back porch…for washing sandy feet and so that my 3-year-old could tend to the daisies and lilies - Closet full of games, books, and puzzles, a recreation room with toys for boys and girls alike (mine are 7, 6, 5, and 3) and even a ping-pong table… for the rainy days we couldn’t spend at the beach. Our kids loved putting graffiti on the floor and dancing to the electric piano demo the most. - Weber grill complete with bag of charcoal, lighter fluid, and lighter…for dining Texas style and roasting marsh mellows - Raft, floats, sand toys, and beach chairs…the bulky stuff that we just couldn’t bring with us on our 4-day road trip - Glorious master bedroom that was a retreat in itself (I loved “Tweet Street”) - Kitchen fully stocked with supplies so this cook could jump right in… everything in its rightful place - Vacuum cleaners, washing machine, dryer, basic cleaning supplies…all provided to manage life with four little children - Though I didn’t dare tell my kids, there was Cartoon Network and Internet access available. They never even asked. We required only a couple of things when we started our search for a Michigan vacation home the previous year: a house between Ludington and Charlevoix that slept 10-12 people, and a beach that was accessible by foot. We quickly narrowed our choice from more than 20 candidates to this cottage (which is very representative with photos and descriptions). Having never been to Frankfort, we were armed only with a Google Earth aerial, a road map, this Internet representation, and conversations with a friendly owner months before arrival. We were not disappointed. In fact, we were stunned at how fabulous this place really was. Frankfort beach is pristine. The neighborhood is like a little slice of Americana, chock full of restored Victorians, some more than 100 years old. The front porch swing was our favorite retreat for morning coffee, evening cocktails, and family bonding. Nights were surprisingly quiet even with windows open. We feel fortunate to have found this little piece of heaven and look forward to our annual holiday here. A real home away from home. Rating: 5 out of 5
