About the Island of Grand Turk
Grand Turk is a quiet, laid-back island where the people are friendly and welcoming. A quaint island that offers an “Old World” flavor, non-commercialized, no high rises and fast food places, only charming antique colonial architecture, beautiful sandy beaches and gorgeous turquoise sea. It is a British governed island and the island currency is the US Dollar.
Grand Turk has been well known destination for Scuba Divers for its protected underwater parks. Snorkeling around the superb coral reefs with the abundant sea life is a real treat. The Humpback whales make their annual voyage each year to breed and have their young in the warm waters surrounding Grand Turk. There are many more of Mother Nature’s wonders to enjoy on the island of Grand Turk as well, like the Pink Flamingos that wade in the Salinas, Osprey that soar over the sea and tiny Hummingbirds that hover in the trees and scrubs.
Come, visit us on Grand Turk and let the island soothe your soul.

We totally enjoyed a little piece of paradise. The apartment was great. Clean and had everything we needed including breakfast for the next morning. Very nice. Apartment was clean and comfy. Towels were even nice. The dogs were great. We felt very safe. Barking at strangers early in the morning, not so good. But they were otherwise well behaved. We saw the black dog at Sand Bar one night. She laid by us while we ate and then followed us to the car. When I opened the door she got in and took a ride back to the apartment. Too funny. Enjoyed having a car to use even though the islands is small. Water was unbelievably beautiful. Very quiet and relaxing. Bike riding was fun. Arelys the manager, was so nice and helpful. Use bug spray on legs if you are susceptible. Thank you for helping to make our vacation so memorable and relaxing. It was all good.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This place is exactly as advertised, clean and spacious but best of all right on a gorgeous beach. The crystal clear water with a nice sand bottom was beautiful for swimming. Easy walk to town and restaurants and the bikes were great for exploring the island and picking up groceries. The veranda was perfect for having morning coffee, pina coladas while watching amazing sunsets or reading a book. We could not get enough of the view and sound of the waves, didn't want to leave. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a location that isn't surrounded by huge resorts, this is the place to stay. The wi-fi works well and was a bonus. There are 2 adorable potcake dogs that like to visit so make sure to bring some dog treats.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

I must say this was the best place we've ever rented for a beach vacation. You step out the door onto your beach. We saw only two people walk along the beach the whole week we were there, even when the cruise ship was in. The water is gorgeous. The unit had everything we needed, including a scrabble board, which we played every night. The apt was bright, clean, and spacious. We also loved the two potcakes (dogs) that went with us everywhere, including into the restaurants. We loved having coffee and breakfast on the patio. The unit comes with two bikes to use, and we used it for the whole week touring. We didn't rent a vehicle at all. Everything is close by or biking distance. We explored from one tip of the island to the other. Loved it !!! If I were to add something to the unit, it would be snorkel gear, and a barbeque. We will definitely be back to rent here again.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Stayed at the Crabtree Apartments this past December 2012-January 5th,2013. We had a wonderful stay in the South unit, unit 1. Beautiful location with the beach and ocean right outside of the back door. Sound was never an issue between the aprtments or from the road. You do hear from the veranda just because they are attached but the wall between makes it private. The pictures are exactly what you get. The veranda was my favourite spot in the morning to read and have my coffee....it was my hubby's favourite spot for an afternoon catnap and reading his book in the late evening. The ocean breezes kept the apartment cool through the day and night. Both bedrooms have air conditioners which we sometimes used. The sounds of the waves when you wake up is amazing. The apartment was just what we needed, and the bedrooms spacious and bright. We ate in the apartment most evenings and went out for lunch on some days. Kitchen is well equipped to eat / cook in, if that is what you wish. We enjoyed fresh fish a few times that we cooked ourselves....people are so friendly...just ask and you will find where locals go for fresh fish, to eat, or to buy groceries/food...It took some time to navigate ourselves but the apartment is in a great location for getting to restuarants or grocery stores. You could use the bikes provided or walk. The merchanidise choices in the stores are not what I am used to, but was ready for that. We are a family of 4 and tavelled with our 2 boys (9 and 11). Some comments on various review sites said that 11 days on Grand Turk would be too sleepy for 2 energentic boys but that was so far from the truth. They snorkled everyday right in front of the apartment. Found that this was the best location compared to all the other beaches we visited. Of course a trip to some reefs in the middle of the ocean is still the best. Could walk the beach in both directions also, which I did everyday. Great beach to collect shells and sea glass. We rented a golf cart for a week and this was a great way to explore and find grocery stores or just visit various sites. The dogs are wonderful too. Be sure to pack some dog kibble and treats with you to feed them. They are lovely. It was a wonderful trip....hubby and I came back more rejuvinated than we have from a vacation EVER! Kids are asking when we will return ;)Feel free to email me if you would like more information.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at the Crabtree from may 11th till the 19th. Our time there was so relaxing. Here our a few of our suggestions: Rent a Golf Cart from Nathans Rental. We had a golf cart for the entrie week. We hesitated at first as it costs $350 for the week, but it was money well spent. We cruised the island every day. There is more to see than one would expect on a small island. We especially loved the Lighthouse. We went there several times. Great pllace to watch the sunset. We also loved the Sandbar Restaurant. Great grouper sandwiches. Rum punch at the Secret Garden was yummy. They also had a good omelette. We did go to the Osprey fro BBQ night. It was pricey but very yummy. The Crabtree apts were great. Clean, homey and the location is the best on the Island. The dogs are super nice. They never bother you. They just like to come around, hang out under the tree, swim and play. They look like the happiest dogs I ahve ever seen! Would highly recommmend the south unit, if it is avalable. It is more private and has a better view. The middle and north unit are also very nice. Enjoy!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

As always, our trip to Grand Turk was wonderful -- relaxing with wonderful diving with Smitty from Grand Turk Diving who reminded me that "I was home!!" The Crabtree Apartment was awesome. We left the back doors open all night long to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. Ilsa did such a great job with the cleaning that we only needed her every other day. My only negative comment is that the shower drain was very slow so we ended each shower in water a couple of inches deep -- not really a big deal, though! Our friends have recommended that for the next trip we stay in the south unit as they feel it is "airy-er" (is that a word?), but we truly enjoyed the apartment that we had. We'll make that decision next year as we will be back!! We're hoping for 10 days next year as 7 days never seems like enough. One other comment - about the dogs. At first I was very hesitant as we are really "cat people". I usually not very comfortable around strange dogs, especially large ones. However, Sandy, Cashew and Smiley were so friendly and well behaved and greeted us every morning on our veranda that I was sorry to leave them. Thanks again . . . I'm so glad I decided to look up Grand Turk on VRBO and now recommend that website to everyone I know who are looking to make vacation plans.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Cathy, Thanks for the nice review. We are happy you had a nice stay. Just wanted you to know that we have already taken care of the shower problem. We hope to see you again next year. Leslie Janes Owner

We not only truly enjoyed our stay, we found the owners to be the most caring and concerned for you having a great trip over any other vrbo we've experienced. Jessalyn even made sure we had a taxi waiting for us at the airport; this was more like a travel agent than a vacation rental owner. Another exclusive these owners do is make sure you have a beginning meal for the morning by having eggs, milk, butter available in case you get in and the store is closed. This was very nice for us. Thank you Jessalyn for allowing us to stay. One of the things I appreciated was the extra sunscreen, bug spray, and many other things that were left by other renters that were not cleaned out. It was a benefit. We left some of our extra for the next guests, this is great if you forget something. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and recommended it to several other divers we met during chartered dives who apparently go yearly. I can only say, if you are going to Grand Turk, take it from someone who was there and looked around, you will not find a better place. As soon as we stepped food inthe door it felt like home. It had everything you could have wanted from beach chairs to snorkel gear. The beach was quiet and very relaxing. The bikes were perfect for getting around and they had baskets that were big for hauling groceries.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

What a pleasure it was to stay at the Crabtree. The island provides just what we had hoped, with little in the was of "tourist" attractions and a great deal of relaxation. The residents (including the potcake dogs) are very friendly and made the stay a real joy. The apartment was right on the beach with the best coral snorkeling I have ever seen. We lived in Hawaii for 3 years and this blows Hawaii away! The unit was clean and well maintained and we never had a second thought about whether we had made the right choice. Best vacation ever!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Crabtree Apartments. It was especially nice to find the refrigerator stocked for breakfast since we got in later. The beach right outside the door was wonderful! The apartment itself was clean, decorated with a lovely tropical theme and the kitchen was well stocked with essentails needed. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and the cruise center. The locals were all very friendly and helpful. We even got to see a few whales while we were there. It was just a very relaxing week, hope to do it again. (The week we were there turned out be a great choice as we missed the 20 inches of snow in Illinois!)Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Grand Turk:
We fell in love with Grand Turk when we visited Grand Turk over 20 years ago. We have loved the charm of the island, the friendly people and the slow pace. The island remained pretty much the same over the years.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
I love to wake to the beautiful sea, just outside the door. There is always a wonderful trade wind that keeps it comfortable and the water is so warm, we love to swim and snorkel right out front. I enjoy waking to sights and sounds of the sea, having my breakfast on the veranda, watching the pipers pick their way along the beach and catching the last rays of the sun as it appears to dip into the ocean. I also love walking to town each night under the stars to dinner.
