KICK OFF YOUR SHOES AND RELAX-THIS IS THE PLACE! As urban creative types with hectic schedules, we escape whenever we can to "Castaway," our cozy knotty-pine cottage on Ministers Pond. "Castaway" is the farthest unit from the entrance to the small, 9-cottage colony of Nauset Haven. The grounds are attractively landscaped and there is generous space between our cottage and its nearest neighbor. The other side borders woods, so you'll appreciate the extra space and privacy!
The photograph says it all. In this corner of old-fashioned Cape Cod heaven, you can unwind in a beautiful pond setting with maximum simplicity. Nothing beats the view of this 26-acre freshwater pond and a few steps bring you to a private beach where you can swim, sunbathe on the floating dock, or take one of the free rowboats for your own private cruise or fishing.
Location! Location! Location! We are just 1/4 mile from the National Seashore Visitor Center at Salt Pond with its spectacular trails, dunes, and oceanfront beaches. Rent a bicycle and take a spin on the Cape's famous Rail Trail or Seashore Trail. Sightseeing, birdwatching, canoeing/kayaking, beachcombing, off-beat and fun shopping, miniature golf, drive-in movies, antiquing, great seafood and local cuisine: it's all here.
NEW FOR 2009! We have added a new deck on the pond side with direct access from the living room through sliding glass doors (see new photos!). We are also renovating the bedroom so that the bed will face a large window overlooking the pond, with new built-in storage and good reading lights! We can't wait to wake up and enjoy stunning water views while sipping our morning brew! Brand new hotel-quality double bed, too!
The living room has a convertible full-size futon sofa for guests or kids. The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner gas stove, frig, microwave, toaster-oven, coffeemaker, blender, standard cookware, dishware and utensils. The bathroom has a sink, shower, toilet. There is air-conditioning (window unit), wood-burning fireplace and propane heat. An outdoor charcoal grill is also provided, as is a hammock under the pines.
Just bring linens and towels, and get ready to relax and enjoy the best of Cape Cod!

We loved Castaway! Saw a huge storm move across the peninsula while we were in Highland Lighthouse--really dramatic! The tidal change at First Encounter Beach and Nauset Marsh is incredible! Osprey were checking out Ministers Pond. Thanks for the good reading lights--a rarity in most rentals!

We truly enjoyed our stay in your cottage. It was so "kid friendly" for our 18- month old! We could not have asked for more with the playground, boats, yard, etc. . .My husband truly enjoyed relaxing here after returning from duty in Iraq. We will be back!

What a find! The unexpected weather each morning delighting or permitting. The tree swallows, hundreds, beaks to the wind, perched on top of the bush branches near the Great Island Trail.
