LOCATION LOCATION, just 2 short blocks from the Jardin. The Artesans Market and Mercado with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, and flowers is just a block away. The Biblioteca is a block away. The Biblioteca, the largest English language library in Mexico is the place for movies, concerts, books and a very good restaurant. You can even get the New York Times daily at the Biblioteca. The owner is located on the property and there is also a property manager. Both are available for questions and suggestions.
Casa De Las Divas has two, two bedroom, two bath casitas. Each casita is on a separate floor, one lower and one upper. They can be rented separately or together. Luxury sheets and towels are provided. Each casita is colorfully and comfortably furnished, with a nice-size kitchen. Beautiful oriental rugs are in the living area and bedrooms. The bathrooms are ensuite. The spacious living/dining area overlook the interior courtyard with its fountain, plants, and flowers. The living room has a nice gas fireplace to keep the chill away in the mornings or late evenings.
The casitas have a rooftop garden with a beautiful 360-degree view of San Miguel. The Churches of San Miguel and the mountains create a mesmerizing vista. The terrace is a perfect place to read, relax, sip a margarita or just take a siesta. The living room overlooks a patio with a fountain and a profusion of colorful flowers and plants. Often there is a turquoise hummungbird enjoying the flowers.

The casitas are part of a historical construction and contain many interesting architectural details with thick walls and archways on the interior.

Listening to the sound of the fountain will help get you in the rhythm of San Miguel. The Artesans Market and the Biblioteca are less than a five minute walk. I can arrange for babysitting services if they are needed.

The downstairs casita has a private outdoor breakfast patio. Each casita has 1100 square feet. The bedrooms in the upstairs casita have beautiful boveda ceilings.

  • Wonderful place to get away. I've stayed twice, and both casitas are well-appointed, clean, and centrally located. My guests and I were amazed at the variety of things to do in SMA-- great restaurants, concerts, shops-- not to mention the scenery. We walked everywhere we went, with no trouble at all. Melissa and her staff were friendly and professional. We certainly plan to go back.

  • My wife and I stayed in the upper Casita for the first week in January, 2009, and had a very positive experience. The location was as good as it gets, and the casita was quiet, clean and comfortable. The cleaning person was very efficient and available daily if needed. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms and kitchen clean and well-supplied. As Melissa, the owner, lives in a house on premisis, there is always a feeling of security. Melissa, a self titled "recovering attorney," is energetic, warm, and gracious, and a most valuable resource for things to do in San Miguel or lively chatting.

  • Bopb and I have stayed at Casa de las Divas 7 times. That number speaks for itself! The location is perfect and situates you right there close to the Jardin and all that it has to offer, and yet the Casa is quiet and as restful as you want it to be. The casitas (we have stayed in both) are very beautifully furnished with Mexican Folk art and these artifacts tell you that you are where history goes back many centuries and yet lives on in daily life. Everything is kept so clean, and is well managed.

  • Everything was wonderful! Specifically, the casita was extremely clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the fountain in the courtyard and the fireplace on one rainy & chilly evening. Lorena housekeeper was outstanding! She was very polite, extremely diligent and seemed to always go above and beyond any reasonable expectations. The only downsides were that there were no bathtubs. Both bathrooms had showers. We were extremely pleased with the price, the comfort of the accomodations, & the location. We will definitely try to stay there again and can highly recommend this property to others.

  • Our casita exceeded our expectations. The decor is cheerful and the spaciousness makes it feel like a home. In addition, we arrived to find a lovely arrangement of fresh flowers along with a welcoming gift from the owner. Sunsets from the lovely rooftop terrace are unforgettable. Best of all, though, this location is only a few minutes' walk from the jardin, a nice grocery store, the artisans' market, the farmers' market, and several great restaurants. The casitas are a real bargain!
