ONE OF THE PREMIER VACATION HOMES in one of the Big Island's premier vacation spots, Champagne Cove at Kapoho Beach features 4 bedrooms plus 2 dens on 2 floors, accommodating from 2 to 10 very lucky guests. The home is known for its huge PRIVATE IN-GROUND SWIMMING POOL, adjacent barbecue area, and garden surroundings, all for your exclusive use as a Champagne Cove guest. Famous Champagne Pond, a crystal-clear Pacific Ocean lagoon sheltered from the surf that provides incredible snorkeling and swimming, is only a 3-minute walk away.
See for yourself.
GROUPS OF 6 OR LESS rent the top main floor of Champagne Cove with the main living, dining and kitchen areas, a completely enclosed wraparound lanai with a panoramic ocean and pool view, 2 bedrooms with king & double bed, and 1.5 baths. Groups of 6 or less may obtain access to the ground-floor Ohana for an additional fee. GROUPS OF 7 OR MORE have use of the ground-floor portion of Champagne Cove called the Ohana, with another living and dining area, kitchen, 2 more bedrooms with king & double beds, and another 1.5 baths.
CHAMPAGNE COVE IS COMPLETELY AND COMFORTABLY FURNISHED to supply all of your home-away-from-home needs. Cook in one of the beautiful kitchens while you gaze at the Pacific Ocean through the 30-plus palm trees. Outdoor dining with shade umbrellas for poolside lounging makes for an unforgettable stay. The outdoor charcoal barbecue faces the pool and is adjacent to the outdoor shower that is a must for everyone to try at least once. In the pool you can view the waterfall and the 12-foot mural of "Hilo Town" at the same time. Look for its artist "Arenzo" who is also the gardener and ask him about his work and his life; it is worth the wait.
YOU CAN SEE WHALES OFF-SHORE (in season) and sea turtles visit year 'round. Don't miss the 3-mile drive to the popular geothermally heated pond called Ahalanui (the "Hot Pond"). At night you can view the cruise ships passing in the night or enjoy one of the televisions. You are "connected" while at Champagne Cove through both hard-wired and wireless DSL connections. Champagne Cove has a local massage therapist "on call" and an on-site massage table for your use.
NOTHING COMPARES WITH THE OLD HAWAII FEELING in downtown Hilo and great kindness reflected by the neighbors and the natives of this lush area. Being only a few miles from Kalapana and being able to see the lava enter the ocean is another wonderful attraction. Champagne Cove is located less than a mile from the old town of Kapoho and the lighthouse on the point is a reminder of times gone by. The nearby picturesque town of Pahoa has an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants, some with live music and all filled with aloha.
CHAMPAGNE COVE GETS SUNRISES like you never imagined, and even though the sun sets on the other side of the island, the sky over Kapoho comes alive with spectacular colors! This is truly an awesome place. Kapoho is the warmest, sunniest spot on the windward side of the island. It often gets sun when it is raining in Hilo. Here you will experience beauty and tranquility with a rare taste of lovely "old Hawaii."
Year-round rate range is $175 - $525 per night, depending upon party size and dates of your visit. Cleaning fee ranges from $125 to $315 also depending upon party size.

Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we had a pleasant vacation. The property has a really nice location and is a nice size for 2 couples on the upper floor. We had a lot of rain during our visit so we had to spend a great deal of time in the house. The furniture is somewhat frayed and dated. The bed that is used as a couch is uncomfortable. There is only one closet in one of the bedrooms for guest use, the others were locked. The one closet is for very tall people too so if you're med/short height you need to live out of the suitcase. Having stayed in a lot of rental homes over the years, this wasn't aweful, but didn't knock us out either. Consider a coat of paint if you're looking for suggestions! Manager responded on 2/28/2013: Thank you for your review, we'll pass your suggestions on to the owner. The weather has been exreme this week for sure! Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was very good if one planned to stay put and use the pool and the local beaches. If one plans to see the sites on the island, it is too far away.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was not too fancy where I would feel like I had to be very careful with everything. It was comfortable and had plenty of space for the kids. The pool was good size to keep control of all the children and with the outdoor shower made it perfect. There was a wheelchair ramp which made it possible for our family member who was paralyzed in a diving accident to come and visit for the day. It was far enough from the shoreline that it provided privacy form traffic and other beach users but close enough to walk to the warm ponds. It could have had a few more towels and you had to pay $2.00 per wash which we were not aware of so was short of change. Having 2 kitchens made it very convenient and plenty of refrigerator space. I would definitely recommend this house for a large family for comfort and safety. It was pain to have to go up and let guests in the gate. Might b e a better way to do that , like a buzzer system or something.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Rating Details: I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was clean. The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have previously reviewed on VRBO website and was disappointed to see that the owner reply did not address our most important concerns ( ripped, stained and threadbare cushions on upholstered furniture with stuffing coming out; pool missing so many tiles we questioned safety and health). We did not call your agency as the owner said we should have done because these were not issues that were emergencies; they are all upkeep/maintenance issues to be addressed by those who own vacation rental properties. Manager responded on 8/17/2012: Your concerns were understood and shared with the property owner and we (the managers) responded the best way we could which is to say that the owners are always maintaining the property. These specific issues are on the 'to do' list but as you state, are not emergencies. Matching tiles, for instance cannot be found and finding a similar product on the most remote island in the world is a challenge of time and effort. We, as managers of the property are just disappointed that this great property received a terrible online review from you for all to see rather than your addressing them with us in a manner that we could have done something positive about. Thanks again, we truly DO value the feedback of guests so that we can continue to work to improve all properties. Mahalo, Hawaii Holiday ManagementDid you find this review helpful? Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: NOTE: You need to bring a roll of quarters for the washing machine. Great house, older furniture etc but that was expected. I did NOT expect to have to pay for the washing machine. I would've really appreciated knowing that in advance since there's nothing nearby. We had already gone food shopping and had been on Maui for the past week and all 7 of us needed to do laundry to find out we couldn't do it until the next day after driving to find quarters. Other than that we had a fabulous time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family arrived later than we expected in the pouring rain but no worries for us. Loved the rain, sunshine, the ViEW is awesome......, trade winds aaahhh, and why shower inside when you have a great outdoor shower. Oh yeah, the home is nice too, adequate for cooking and sleeping. As you can tell we stayed outside and enjoyed the pool and the kids went and snorkeled in the pools down the road. Quiet neighborhood!! Hope to return in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: Carol and Greg have worked together in a family business for 25 years and have two properties in the vacation rental pool: Champagne Cove in Kapoho and Pacific Grove Cottage in Pacific Grove, California, next to Monterey.
Why the Owner Chose Kapoho:
We choose Kapoho because we were told it is located in a 'banana belt' on the Hilo side, which means we have sun often when it is raining in Hilo. We bought Champagne Cove because of the 180-degree oceanfront views and the huge swimming pool with the lava rock fountain that frames the Pacific Ocean.
Of course, the hot ponds with the large turtles and the ability to have a house where you can watch the cruise ships pass in the night through the palm trees was a huge draw.
Nothing compares with the old Hawaii feeling in downtown Hilo and great kindness reflected by the neighbors and the natives of this lush area. Being only a few miles from Kalapana and being able to see the lava enter the ocean is another wonderful attraction to the area. Our house is located less than a mile from the old town of Kapoho and the lighthouse on the point reminds us of times gone by.
We look forward to retiring to our dream home in a few years but for now paradise can be rented!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This beautiful 2-story home looks out at the ocean with 180-degree sweeping views of the Pacific. The ocean is complemented with a view that includes the 9-foot deep pool with two shallow areas for children. The outdoor barbecue faces the pool and is adjacent to the outdoor shower that is a must for everyone to try at least once.
In the pool you can view the waterfall and the 12-foot mural of “Hilo Town” at the same time. If your stay includes a Thursday look for our artist “Arenzo” who is also our gardener and ask him about his work and his life; it is worth the wait.
Cook in our beautiful kitchens while you gaze at the Pacific Ocean through our 30-plus palm trees. At night you can view the cruise ships passing in the night or enjoy some television in one of four locations in the house. You are “connected” while at Champagne Cove through both hard-wired and wireless DSL connections.
We have a local massage therapist “on call” and we have our own table for your use. Swim in Champagne Pond and enjoy ocean fishing or swimming just steps from our door.
Don’t miss the 2-mile drive to the public hot ponds and after dipping continue on your way to Kalapana for 5-o’clock walk to the lava flow. Remember to bring good shoes, a flashlight, some water and a camera. Bring a wee bit of cash and talk to the artists in their tents that line the parking lot on the way to the lava flow.
In the evening go to Pahoa town and stop at Kaleo’s for dinner. Many nights there is live music but every night there is great food and a wonderful bar and the warm air is filled with aloha.
Champagne Cove is your home base while you explore these and other wonders in Hawaii. You are in the real Hawaii now and we welcome you with Aloha to our home.
