Great location to Enjoy Authentic Mexico, No Mega-Resorts Here

Guest: Maureen (Eugene Oregon)
Date of Stay: 02/20/12 Review Submitted: 03/13/12

Casa Mural in Sayulita is so close in that no car is necessary and the beach is a very short walk away If you use Jose Ramos taxi service from the airport he will take you to a beautiful supermarket, MEGA. You can stock up on all you will need for a week at Casa Mural. Don't overbuy because the restaurants are close, wonderful and reasonable. The house is roomy and an authentic Mexican house in design and furnishings. We had such fun being in a small beach town and a real neighborhood away from the resorts and fast food. Renting a golf cart for a half day gave us time to travel all the back streets and taking the local bus to Bucieras gave us a chance to see a nearby town. A local fiesta in Sayulita was a special treat, and the parade went right by the house. We sat out on our chairs and enjoyed it all. The Queen of the event lived right across the street, a most beautiful young girl. You won't be sorry if you choose Casa Mural in Sayulita. It is helpful that the owner lives in the US and is easy to contact and is willing to answer any questions you may have. He also provides detailed written information to his renters.

Owner response:It was a pleasure having you, Maureen. Thanks for your kind words about Casa Mural. We look forward to having you back again one day in the future. Hasta pronto.

Spacious and beautiful condo!

Can't wait to return! The condo was very spacious, private veranda, and warm and traditional Mexican interior styling. Within walking distance to everything, centrally located. Safe, well lit, and so comfortable. Highly recommend for a woman enjoying a vacation alone!

The perfect family vacation home!

Steve, want to thank-you for renting us your home in Sayulita. It was everything as promised, we are a family of five and our three "20some" children are scattered around the country and we wanted the opportunity to bring everyone together in a relaxed, secure yet stimulating environment....your home did exactly that. One of the amazing Sayulita surfbreaks is a two minute barefoot walk down the street. Probably the best kept secret in town, the restaurant "Chiles & Margaritas" is right across the street it is run by your property manager Lorenzo and family who not only fed us some of the best food we have ever had but took great care of us and answered our every question. We loved the little neighbourhood that your house was located,it was a perfect mix of genuine Sayulita/Mexican style. Our family would amble the 4 or 5 minute walk(sometimes barefoot) to the village plaza for wonderful coffee, drinks and people watching. My children loved the outdoor action at nights both on the beach and at the many pub/restaurants around the main square. We always felt safe in your home and Sayulita. Towards the end of the week I felt that we had become residents, lots of the locals remembered us and I even felt respect from the locals in the surf. Thanks once again for allowing us the opportunity to make this family vacation one we will always fondly remember.

Owner response:Andrew, thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure to have you at the Casa Mural. Please come back again! Steve and Edna Heath

Perfect Vacation Spot

Guest: Shan (Portland, OR)
Date of Stay: 03/20/11 Review Submitted: 05/15/11

I went to Sayulita with a group of friends this past March and we really had the most fabulous time, in large part due to staying the week at Casa Mural. Not only is this house inviting and spacious, but the location is perfectly situated - a block from the beach and three or four blocks to the center of town. There is a wonderful eatery right across the street and so much to explore right outside of the doors of this lovely home. We felt so comfortable staying here it really made our vacation that much more enjoyable and relaxing. The owner was also very helpful and informative, and I felt, really wanted to ensure that our experience while staying Casa Mural was as positive as possible. I am anticipating a return trip to Sayulita and staying at Casa Mural!

Have just enjoyed a wonderful stay at Casa Mural, everything about the house far exceeded my expectations! I can't say enough about the great location after seeing many of the steep climbs to other rentals, and I felt safe and comfortable walking to all restaurants and shops day or evening. The house is perfect for families, very spacious and comfortable and truly charming as well with the murals and veranda and arches. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!! The best surprise was how great Sayulita is with wonderful people and eclectic shops and fabulous food! Staying in Casa Mural was by far the best way to get to know this lovely area. And the beach is beautiful! A perfect vacation, thank you so much for the great "extras" like the beach chairs and boogie boards!! Very thoughtful! I look forward to coming back soon J. W. We are just back from Sayulita - sigh - and wanted to say a big thanks for letting us rent your beautiful home at Casa Mural. We had a lovely holiday and had a hard time leaving. Everything at the house was so comfortable and cozy, and we took full advantage of walking to numerous beaches many times a day, or downtown to get groceries or use the internet. I wanted to let you know that you are the proud caretaker of 4, perhaps 5 iguanas now... babies? They got more used to us the longer we were there and would take to sunning themselves on the rocks by the back deck, not to mention gorging themselves on overripe mangos that were falling by the number each day. There are also at least 3-4 different geckos inside the home taking care of the place! Also, wanted to let you know what a great job John did taking care of us while we were there, and also the gardener, Fabian. What a wonderful person. Casa Mural sure is a special home, in a lovely neighborhood of people.

We had an absolutely lovely time in Sayulita. It was the perfect place to celebrate my 30th birthday with 6 girlfriends. The house had plenty of space and a great outdoor area for sipping cocktails and enjoying the evenings! We really liked the location and proximty to the beach. It is a very short 3 block walk into town and a couple blocks down to the beach. The restaurant across the street is a must-visit...go early during you stay because you will want to return each night! Also don't forget to sample the AMAZING margaritas next door at the Secret Spot--tamarind and chile. Need I say more?

Nice family home near beach

We had a great time at Casa Mural. Both the owner and the manager were extremely helpful before our arrival, particularly since we had questions about small children. It is a very convenient location, and we went to and from the beach with ease (and appreciated the faucet in the front yard, as we always returned covered in sand). The waves were quite big while we were there - perhaps thanks to the earthquake in Chile - but we walked down the beach closer to town, and found places suitable for the little ones. Our favorite eating place was the restaurant right across the street!

A short walk to the beach AND town, this was the perfect location! The property manager was also really helpful! Thanks so, SO much and I hope to visit again soon!

Thank you so so much Sara for letting us girls stay in your adorable beach home. Your home was perfect for our vacation needs....the location, the size, the decor, and of coarse the tranquil backyard! We loved every minute of our stay! Oh and thank you greatly for the very informative welcome letter; it addressed anything and everything that we could have possibly needed to know for our trip to Sayulita! Thanks again.

I visited Sayulita with 5 of my friends, and loved every minute. The town is the perfect destination for a relaxing, laid-back, beach vacation. Casa Mural was the perfect vacation rental. It is very reasonably priced and located in a great location (within a short walk to town or the beach and NO HILLS). We had the pleasure of meeting the owner while we were there. She was very kind, accomodating and very helpful. The home was plenty spacious for the 6 of us and very clean and homey feeling. The back porch and big back yard was definitely where we spent the most of our time. I would highly recommend visiting Sayulita, and, if you did, stay at Casa Mural.

What a fantastic house in a charming town! Casa Mural was clean and colorful, in a perfect location, away from the bustle of town but near enough to walk everywhere. Wonderful beach too. Can't say enough about how helpful it was to have suggestions from the owners emailed to us before our trip to MX. Also took advantage of riding with the mountain biking group at Lorenzo's across the road -- great fun!

We had the best trip ever, much of it due to you and your lovely Casa Mural. We felt so at home there, loved the location, the yard, the lovely rooms, all of it. The kids explored every part of the yard, saw LOTS of iguanas, ate bananas and limes from the trees, and were able to NOT bring much sand into the house, thanks to the outdoor shower. We ate at Lorenzo y Estellas 3-4 times, made pals with Michel, the guy who owns the cafe on the corner, got many chickens to-go from the grill down the street and ordered a full pie (mango-apple!) 2x's from Sandra at her coffee stand in the Libreria. Oh, loved Macondo and the owners, too. Muy delicioso! We pretty much made ourselves right at home in Sayulita and were able to do so so easily because of your "guidebook", that we printed out. You should see it with its highlighted parts and notes all over! The town and people there were very quickly very special to us and I can't wait to return asap. Definitely to Casa Mural! Thanks so much!

We loved Casa Mural – fabulous location and great for our group of 5. Very sweet house. We spent many lovely evenings on the back porch and had great adventures during our days there. I loved the proximity to the town, our favorite boogie-board beach, and the library (that has wireless for one dollar per day and great espresso and spanish lessons). And it was nice being in a mixed neighborhood with many businesses as well as residences. The mural in the kitchen is a beautiful addition.

8 of us stayed at Casa Mural. What a lovely, inviting home. Casa Mural is clean and spacious. We slept comfortably and socialized on the large back porch watching the resident (huge) iguana. We cooked many a meal in the the complete kitchen (and even hired a chef to come and cook for us), had food delivered from the family run restaurant across the street. The grocery store is a few steps down, the beach is just a couple of blocks, and town if 5 minute walk (away from the noise). Can't wait to go back!!! thanks Christina

We had a lovely time--you have a wonderful home in Sayulita! The resident iguana greeted us with a friendly hello by dangling one day from the veranda roof--quite a handsome fellow. The house was quite nice and well appointed and the garden and the veranda was a great treat--it was very nice to be able to sit out there and read, chat or have meals. You have a very special home and we thank you so much for sharing it.

We really loved the house. The location was ideal, close enough to the center of town to walk, but far enough away to be quiet. The back porch and yard are great. The house was very comfortable. We hope to come back.
