Diamond Head Dream Home
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Nestled at the base of famous Diamond Head Crater, this family friendly house is only steps away from sunny beaches, Tongs surfing area, the expansive Kapiolani Park, the Waikiki Aquarium, the Honolulu Zoo, the exclusive Outrigger Canoe Club and the Elks Club.
It is in a quiet residential neighborhood located on the gold coast. It is within walking distance of International Waikiki, with its beaches and world class shopping and dining opportunities.
The smoke-free house has been in our family for 35 years, and is filled with original works of art, antiques and sculpture. We welcome guests who want to be close to the nightlife and glamor of Waikiki, but enjoy the quiet serenity of our little neighborhood.
The Diamond Head Dream Home is well equipped with a gourmet kitchen, with all the right utensils and appliances you will need for cooking. There is a downstairs room that has it's own outside entrance, as well as full bathroom. We have an outside hose-off-after-the-beach-shower downstairs, that leads directly into the open glass block shower, and jacuzzi tub. If you forget to bring a book we have an extensive library downstairs. The upstairs lanai's are perfect for eating, sunbathing, or reading on a lazy Hawaiian afternoon. Our home has a formal dining room, ideal for serving gourmet meals, as well as an informal dining area off the kitchen. Upstairs there are yoga mats, and exercise balls. You can do yoga with the peaceful panorama of Diamond Head in the background. Also, upstairs we have a family heirloom, our magnificent grand piano. There is also a keyboard for the musically inclined. Our grand piano has just been lovingly restored by the firm of John Callahan out of Oakland California. One year and many dollars later our piano has been brought back to it's former glory. John brags that we may have the finest sounding piano on the island!
Upstairs is the new master suite, that feels like a complete Hawaiian oasis. This room is ultra private, and has a new outdoor shower where the views are of Diamond Head. Inside is a granite housed soaking tub, a writing desk, a day bed with Bali wood, wall-carvings, an onyx sink and onyx wall sconces. A quite, cool, hide-away, just minutes from Waikiki.
The house is very close to the finish line for the Honolulu Marathon. We are only minutes away from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Punahou Schools.

This house was absolutely amazing, we loved every second we spent in house. There was ample room for the 10 of us with all our needs catered for and more. You could seriously not ask for anything else. Central location with a short walk to Waikiki and the beach. Amazing. We will be staying here again on our next trip back to Hawaii and will be recomming this house to any of our friends who go there.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I brought my whole extended family of 8 for 10 days over Christmas and New Years. The house was perfect for our 3 generations for reading, getting ready for outside events, cooking and sitting around together. Everything was clean and workable. The photos of the place and the location were as advertised. Couldn't have been better. Also, we had easy contact with owner to learn neat places on the Island. Thank you AmyRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We stayed at the house for 7 nights. We were a party of 7 adults and one 3-month old. We did not use one of the bedrooms. The location was great. The baby loved Sans Souci beach. We had a picnic for about 60 people at Kapiolani Park. The wedding was at nearby Waialae Country Club. The bridesmaids got ready in the large room upstairs. There was plenty of space for everyone. Beach stuff and towels for everyone. Convenient to Waikiki where most of the other wedding guests were staying. The only ones who might not like it here are those who need air conditioning or an ocean view. We didn't need either of those. I liked the outside shower. Amy is easy to work with and helpful.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Diamond Head Dream Home. The house is right at the edge of Kapiolani Park and we loved strolling through the park and down to Waikiki for dinner. There is a beautiful view of Diamond Head from the back porch (as well as the second floor) where we would sit and relax after the kids had gone to bed. Easy access to a great jogging route around the Diamond Head area. The grand piano was in excellent condition!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Gorgeous home, amazing stay. We have been coming to Oahu for 20+ years and stumbled upon this place for our 2012 visit. It was the BEST PLACE we have EVER stayed!! The home is spacious and clean - the giant windows make for amazing light throughout the house. Hardwood floors and a fully stocked kitchen make it feel just like "home". The beds are very comfortable and having a washer/dryer was perfect for a long stay at the beach!! Short walk to the ocean, farmer's market, and shopping. VERY quiet street, very friendly neighbors. We were a group of 5 and had tons of space to spread out. Amelia is AWESOME to work with and takes so much pride in her home!! Can't wait for 2013!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family was so comfortable and pleased with the accommodations. We have pianists in the family and they loved being able to play the piano while away from home. All 9 of us were accommodated in the home (the maximum allowed). A quick phone call to the owner, and our questions about using the wi-fi were answered. Many thanks to the owner for use of the sand toys, the snorkeling gear, etc. We had a wonderful time and great memories to treasure.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at our Ohana's Hale. Mahalo and Aloha! Please think of us on your next trip to the islands.

We had a absolutely wonderful trip to Hawaii and this dream home. The house is not only beautiful and comfortable but a fantastic location at the foot of Diamond Head, close to beaches, the aquarium, the zoo and downtown Waikiki, while not being in the super touristy area at all. The owner gave us so many helpful recommendations of things to do, see and eat we can't thank her enough! I would highly recommend this home to any family looking for a great home base while in Hawaii.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mahalo for your positive review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in our Ohana Hale. We look forward to your return, Aloha, Amelia

I just wanted to share how incredible our Oahu vacation was. We traveled as a family of 8, Grandchildren 8 and 6 years, our adult children and their spouses, my husband and I. We found your beautiful home to be reflective of the Aloha Spirit both in décor and the warmth of our surroundings. There is nothing overlooked in anticipation of a vacationer’s needs from cooking utensils to beach towels and toys, from travel guides to ample seating and private spaces for all. It means so much to us to be able to unite annually in a perfect environment for bonding, fun and much needed relaxation. Vacations are just to important to risk being unpleasantly surprised, so we highly recommend this home as a vacation stay choice. Your home offered us the perfection we look for and we will cherish our time spent at Diamond Head Dreams!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
