Old Florida Village house description
Cracker Jack is designed to allow you to relax and refresh…Located on Scenic Route 30-A in Santa Rosa Beach. Scenic
30-A is considered by many to be the Monterrey of the east. The road is a spectacular 18-mile journey of beautiful beaches, sidewalks, architecture, restaurants, fishing, kayaking, biking, walking and shopping.
What makes Cracker Jack Special?
We think it begins with a lot of attention, care and love. The owners, Jamie & Susan worked to incorporate the things you expect and don’t expect while vacationing at the beach. The walls are finished with a Ralph Lauren palette of Caribbean colors that soothe your senses; furniture is simple and comfortable; towels are oversized and soft; and “Club Cracker” in the tower is a magnet for kids (big and small). Hooks are everywhere to just hang your stuff with ease. The goal was to make you feel comfortable like home, but with a true beach experience.
Where on Scenic 30-A is Cracker Jack?
Cracker Jack is located in Old Florida Village within the city of Santa Rosa Beach (within walking distance of Gulf Place). The village is made up of 75 distinctive, architecturally rich homes with a planned Retail/Loft entrance that will be similar to the nearby Watercolor Community. The Village has two community pools. The streets are made of pavers, special pavement and stone. Green space is throughout the community. There is only one road into the neighborhood which creates a nice private feeling for adults and children.
Tell me more about the Cracker…
The natural beauty of Old Florida Village is very evident in the backyard. Hidden Lake fills up your back view and creates wonderful breezes. The morning sun rises above the lake and breakfast or morning coffee/tea on the deck seems to taste better.
The front of Cracker Jack can create a challenge! Which deck to sit on to watch the lazy day go bye? One of the pools is less than 50 yards away. A wireless Internet system works throughout the entire house. You can even surf the web at the pool.
There are three levels to enjoy at Cracker Jack. On the first level is a guest room painted in Bimini Blue with a balcony facing the pool and beautiful Village architecture. This room was designed with two single beds to give room assignment flexibility. There is a full bathroom directly adjoining.
The kitchen is efficient and functional. The kitchen is outfitted with all the tools you will need - from making morning coffee/tea to a seafood feast (Across the street from OFV is a fresh seafood market). Our family loves cooking and you will find a selection of cookbooks in the kitchen for inspiration. The Florida Room has a lime green sectional couch that is soft and comfortable for those inside days. A large television with cable is ready for clicking.
However, you will notice a well-stocked bookcase filled with the best from Grisham, Collins, etc – take one of the books off the shelf and start reading. Better yet, take the book outside to read on the deck. You are welcome to borrow/take a book but we ask that you add another book for others to enjoy.
Travel up the stairs and you will find a mini-master suite that has a queen size bed with full private bathroom and balcony. The mini-master is decorated with a vibrant yet soothing caribbean color. The hallway is lined with hooks and Palm Tree art.
There is a washer and dryer on this level to handle all the crews needs. Walk into the Master, close the door and create your own mini-spa. The view of the lake is perfect from the Master. We incorporated an outdoor curtain to give compete privacy on the balcony. The chaise lounge on the deck invites you to read a book, watch the birds in the lake or take a nap on the deck & feel like you are really on vacation.
The bathroom has a full tub and separate shower with a SPA like atmosphere. The king size bed has an extra padding to ensure a comfortable nights rest. In the morning, the sun rises beautifully over the lake.
On the second floor hallway you will notice a sign pointing upwards to Club Cracker. Club Cracker is loaded with fun for kids of all ages.
Two sets of bunk beds with large drawers below to store all the kids gear, large 36” television, futon couch that can sleep two, sitting area to draw or play your favorite game, bean bags and a lots of fun.
One wall is decorated in red with three skim boards. Views of the pool and lake… This is truly a separate environment for kids, which allows a quieter environment for adults on the first level. Remember to bring your favorite DVD’s, CD’s, X-Box or Game Cube…
Where is the Beach?
The beach is a short stroll away (takes about 5 minutes to walk). We have a 4 wheel cart to hold all your essentials that can be pulled to the beach to make your beach experience more enjoyable. There is a clean restroom located at the beach along with outdoor shower, picnic tables and grills, and is complete with Lifeguards & Flag system for your added peace of mind.
Did we mention Restaurants?
One of the charming elements of 30-A is that there are no national food chains allowed. When you go to the beach you want to experience something different from your hometown. Well, you are in for a treat…Within walking distance there are a handful of different restaurants of diverse flavors and budgets and a wonderful fresh seafood market. We are here to help you plan your vacation, so please ask us about our favorite places to eat!
Entertainment and Shops!
Gulf Place is 4/10’s of a mile from Old Florida Village. From April to September there is a free concert every Sunday night. Take a walk along the beach to Gulf Place and enjoy and evening of music. Cracker Jack is also a walk away from a Nail Spa, Drug Store, Coffee Shop, Bike Rentals, Retail shops.....There is so much more. You have to come down here to enjoy and explore…
We look forward to your call and welcome you to The Beaches of South Walton.

A Week To Remember!!!
A Week To Remember!!!
We just returned from the most wonderful week staying at Cracker Jack with our friends. We explored beautiful Santa Rosa Beach and the surrounding area and enjoyed ourselves beyond our wildest expectations!!! The house is....well, how shall I put this....phenomenal!!! Very roomy yet so cozy, decorated so beautifully with amentities to the nines and just spotless. The kitchen is outfitted to perfection with items we have never seen in the many vacation rentals we have had over the years. The beds are incredibly comfortable, especially for afternoon naps! What a comfortable place to call home after a day of sightseeing, beaching (yes,in Feb!), music hopping and dining. And the 30 mile walking/jogging/biking path which runs along beautiful 30A is accessible at the entrance of the beautiful development. So you can walk/run on the beach one day, on the path the next. Great restaurants such as Stinky's where the fish stew was off the charts! and FIRE where Sunday brunch with free flowing champagne! should not be missed. And buying fresh fish and shrimp from Goatfeathers to bring home for the bbq is just the best. One place we did not take the opportunity to experience was a little place called The Donut Hole which we heard had the best donuts (and breakfasts) anywhere. Oh, well, something to look forward to next time!! Thanks to the wonderful owners who were so accommodating and easy to work with. You truly have a beautiful home which made for a great week for the four of us!!

Great Summer Vacation
Great Summer Vacation
Just returned from a week stay in Cracker Jack! It was our first stay in Santa Rosa. What a wonderful quaint town. We loved the house. We enjoyed everything about it. It's wonderfully decorated and comfortable. The beds are extremely comfortable. The kids loved the tower room. They spent a lot of time up there. We spent time relaxing at the pool (which is very close to the house) and the beach (short walk). My family let me handle the vacation this year and everyone was so pleased with my choice. The kids loved getting ice cream from the ice cream trucks that came through a few times a day. We were so happy with the neighborhood as it is quiet, friendly and has a "safe feeling". The kids could just go out and play without us feeling like we needed to either be outside or check on them every five minutes. We met so many nice people in the neighborhood, and they all had such wonderful things to say about Old Florida Village. Most of them were returning vacationers. Our vacation was almost perfect! I only have one complaint - THAT WE HAD TO LEAVE! The owners are very friendly and so helpful with any question you might have. I talked to Susan several times before and after reserving Cracker Jack and probably asked a million questions of which she was happy to answer. Thank you to the Fay family for sharing your home with us. We will be back!

Just Booked Our Return Trip!
Just Booked Our Return Trip!
After renting Cracker Jack for Spring Break, we just booked a return trip later this summer at our favorite beach getaway! Over the past 5 years, we have rented multiple homes in this neighborhood (and walked through many others rented by friends) and this house is simply the BEST. First, it is located very close to the main pool, which is both critical and convenient when vacationing with kids. The house itself is spotless with a great floorplan and a relaxing island theme. The 3rd floor tower room, Club Cracker, is a favorite for kids and parents. The double bunk-beds slept four kids and gave them their own private area to play, watch TV and listen to music. Best of all, the adults were able to relax in peace on the first floor and enjoy cocktails on one of the shaded back decks. The second floor is well-designed with both bedrooms sporting private bathrooms. The master bedroom is an island oasis with a large bathroom and private deck. Every possible amenity is provided and the owners have thoughtfully placed hooks everywhere for towels and bathing suits. A short 5-10 minute walk takes you to one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. The color of the water is absolutely incredible and the sand actually squeaks when you walk on it. After a day at the beach, we usually stop by the local fish market - Goatfeathers - located across the street from the neighborhood and bring back fresh fish to cook on the grill (while the kids swim in the pool, of course!). The location of the neighborhood is ideal - close to everything but without all of the traffic. It is just a quick 10 minute drive to the town of Seaside (east) or Sandestin (west) for shopping and entertainment. There is also no shortage of great restaurants nearby - our favorites are Red Bar, Stinky's, Bud & Alley's and Cafe Tango. We highly recommend Cracker Jack and can't wait to go back!

Beautiful home!!!! Love this area!
We just returned from a week in Santa Rosa Beach and staying at the Cracker Jack! This area is so quaint and beautiful. This home was so beautifully decorated and very clean. It is decorated in bright colors and a very beachy atmosphere. I loved the long white curtains on the windows. Plenty of space for the family. The master bedroom and bathroom are nicely done! The loft area was great for our teenagers! I cannot wait to visit again, a week was not enough! Thank you to the owners for making our stay a great experience. Thank you for being so helpful! You really know how to make your guest feel at home!!!

Wonderful spring holiday
Wonderful spring holiday
Please post our wholehearted rave recommendation for CrackerJack - a delightful 3 storey sunny holiday house located on a quiet street in Old Florida Village. This is a condo-style community of dozens of modern colourful houses, with large trees and 2 large swimming pools and decks for residents. The "village" of traditional-style 2 and 3 storey houses is colourful, clean, quiet and beautifully landscaped. CrackerJack is spotless and attractive in every way - comfy clean TV room furniture, a well-equipped kitchen, and . . . the 3rd storey tower, "Club Cracker" with bunk beds and games tables is every child or teen's dream area (with big TV). CrackerJack is only a 5 minute walk from what must be one of the world's most beautiful wide white sand beaches. My wife and I spent a week at CrackerJack with 2 friends in early March 2011 and we all had a great time. It was too cool for swimming in the pools or in the Gulf, but we did long walks on the beach and watched the shore fishermen, dolphins and some migrating birds. We spent hours on the pool decks reading, then cocktails on the porch or deck at the house. There is obvious pride of ownership here - fresh colourful paint, excellent quality mattresses, bedding, towels and kitchenware, very jolly accessories, 2nd floor laundry - everything designed to be very easy living for rental customers. The fish store/restaurant Goatfeathers, (a 5 minute walk) is a gem - a high quality seafood store plus family-friendly restaurant and bar. Nearby attractions are endless - fishing, bike rentals and paved trails, huge shopping malls and specialty stores, and every kind of restaurant you can imagine - from mom-and-pop, to the very cool but casual Fire,(Sunday champagne brunch was a favourite!). The owners know this area very well, and were very helpful in making this an excellent holiday for us - we'll definitely be back - Clare and Gail

It was wonderful being back at Santa Rosa Beach and to our favorite house Cracker Jack. The new owners were very accommodating and helpful! They have upgraded amenities including new small appliances in the kitchen and a new MP3 player. So bring your favorite tunes. We found the house absolutely spotless and well maintained. Our biggest decision of the day was whether to go biking on the 19 mile paved path or to walk on the pristine beach. So we decided to do both! We also enjoyed the local restaurants in the area. We highly recommend Fire in Grayton Beach and Stinky"s in Santa Rosa. Another plus to this location is a fresh seafood market, Goatfeathers within walking distance. They will even cook your shrimp for take out. We just got home and are already planning a return visit.

About: We are a family of four and LOVE the beach. From the moment we started vacationing at Santa Rosa Beach, we knew we were home...
Why Old Florida Village:
Our house is perfect for families. It is a short walk to the beach, is located in a private and safe neighborhood with pools and is close to shops, restaurants, and more. We love biking along the beach trail, heading over to Seaside for ice cream or walking the wharf in Baytown. There is so much to love about Santa Rosa- so much to do, or not to do. This is the one place we can truly relax and live each day as it comes.....
The Unique Benefits at this House:
One of our favorite rituals is stopping at GoatFeathers seafood market (across the road) and buying fresh fish to grill or steamed shrimp to take to the beach for sunset... We have so many favorite activities we would love to share with you but probably the best is heading back to the house at the end of a fun beach day and chilling on our back deck....
