Just a hop, skip, and jump to the beach on the bay of Lake Michigan. Elk Rapids has the BEST beaches!!! All beaches have easy access. The main beach park has a playground area, four tennis courts, a basketball court.
A winding blacktop path through the park ends at the entrance to the historic Elk Rapids Library Bridge. Walk across the bridge and up the steps to the Library.
Continue your walk past the library to the award winning marina. The river flowing under the bridge is a family/kid favorite for floating on out into the shallows of the bay. The Old Town Hall and Museum is across the street from the bridge and town is just a couple of blocks down.

Elk Rapids has many unique shops,an old cinema great restaurants, (local pub, chinese, new Orleans style, mexican, pizza, american, ice cream, internet cafe, and antique shops too. The Grand Traverse Resort is ten minutes away and Traverse City is just 20 minutes away. Charlevoix is 30 minutes north.
Wednesday evenings on River Street from 6-9pm, food, fun, music for the whole family!
Harbor Days: August 3-6, One of the best fireworks displays on Saturday night.
Cherry Festival in Traverse City: July 2-9
Arts & Crafts shows on main street: May 28, July 16, August 20
