I was just in Acapulco in August and had a great time! If you go, you should try Linda Vista Restaurant. Excellent food and view of Acapulco. The best taxi driver we met was David Alcaraz- taxi # 2936. He is stationed at the Mayan Resort. He speaks excellent English and his rates are very reasonable.
