I loved every minute of my stay at magical Lilla Cotta Bay. Everything was even better than I had dreamed -- lovely decor, privacy, amazing views, and the warmest welcome possible. When I got to the cottage the windows were open to capture soft breezes, everything was immaculate, there was a bag of goodies and wine on the table, and Grand Traverse Bay was shimmering out back. Wow! I spent the sunny days floating in the bay and exploring the Leelanau Peninsula. I'd especially recommend Dog Eared Books in Northport (I also loved watching the boats dock in the Northport marina), the 45th Parallel Cafe in Suttons Bay, and the Secret Garden Gallery in Empire. I spent cloudy days reading in the cottage and on the dock -- so peaceful. Thank you, Bill and Carol, for sharing your lovely retreat. You've provided everything necessary to make visitors (including singles) feel safe, comfortable, and special. I hope I get to return soon and would love to see Northport in the fall!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We enjoyed beautiful views of Grand Traverse Bay from Lilla Cotta. Too, the cottage is in a perfect location from which to explore all the attractions that the Leelanau Peninsula offers. Northport itself has quite the charming main street center, all within walking distance. Very nice! Note: if you want to swim, it's best to use the beaches by the Marina - just a short walk away. The lake bed here is very rocky and you'll need water shoes to wade and to launch the paddleboat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We are planning our fifth consecutive springtime stay at Lilla Cotta for our early May wedding anniversary. There are few better spots to relax, unwind and celebrate than at Lilla Cotta. So many incredible memories - stunning sunrises, mated swans out in the bay, dinner at the dining room table while listening to Interlochen Public Radio. Lilla Cotta is a marvelous place to do many things - take a nap in the gloriously comfortable bed, curl up in the living room with a book or a stack of magazines you've been meaning to catch up on, or as the starting point for a walk into town. It's a special place for us, and we thank Bill and Carole for being the perfect hosts.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your review, Dawn and Steve - Knowing that you formerly camped at the State Park in early May, we know how much more comfortable Lilla Cotta is in comparison. We are glad you agree and come back year after year. Bill and Carole

Bill and Carole, Our stay at your cottage was so relaxing with time to read and bike around the Leelanau Peninsula. You have thought of everything to make your guests comfortable from the furnishings to the delightful decorations throughout. It was a pleasure to sit in the wicker chairs and take in the view with coffee in the morning; or sit on the dock to enjoy the sun with our books. Lila Cotta is not a standard cottage rental. It has more of a resort feel with all its amenities ready to make your vacation comfortable and filled with summer memories.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Steve and Kathleen - So glad you enjoyed your visit to Lilla Cotta. She's not big, but has a huge view! The picture you sent with you on the dock with a book in hand says it all. Look forward to having you return next year!book

I think we picked the hottest week of the summer to vacation. And there's no better place to be than next to the water of Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan in the heat of summer. We spent a lot of time in and by the water staying cool, reading, listening to the radio. It was so relaxing! Oh we also managed to to visit some wineries for tasting; and we got to Leland, Glenn Arbor, and Sutton's Bay to shop and eat. But mostly it was a week spent enjoying being by the bay. Bill and Carol, we know you had to adjust the calendar to accomodate our vacation week, and we really appreciated that. We would love to return. Dave and Marilyn.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Dave and Marilyn - So glad your return visit to Lilla Cotta was a pleasant one. You are the perfect couple for the cottage, and by the sounds of your review, you took in everything a guest should while on vacation. Look forward to your return again next year!

Bill and Carole, just want to let you know that your cottage was exactly what the doctor ordered. It was just as wonderful as you described and more. One of my favorite spots to be was on the long dock over the water. The cottage was so clean, comfortable, and absolutely charming. I love that it is nestled away in a private and relaxing setting, but only a short drive to other attractions and activities in the Leenanau Peninsula. Thanks again for the warm welcome and hospitality.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Me & husband Jeff and our daughter Sophia rented the cottage in July of 2007, we loved it! We have rented a couple cottages in the area before, but this one was a 10. The cottage is adorable, clean and perfect to relax in for vacation, we loved it here!! Sophia was just about to turn 2 ,and this was her introduction to "Up North" she drove the paddle boat and dug in the sand, saw her first frog, and had her first campfire here. The entire Northport area is Paradise to us!!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Dear Bill, Just to let you know what a wonderful time we had at your cottage at Northport this October. Indeed, the Fall colors just blossomed wildly before we left. So beautiful! The cottage is as charming as ever. We enjoyed the new fireplace stove in the living room very much. Again, thank you so much for sharing your lovely retreat with all of us renters. The cottage was charming--lovely decorations, nice artwork, and very comfortable. Bill and Carole were very accommodating and made sure that we had a pleasant stay. We enjoyed walking to town every morning as well as having meals on the deck overlooking the bay. We were especially lucky to be there for the Fourth of July fireworks. We had a great view from the dock--seemed like a private showing! We look forward to a return visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Marilyn and I had a great, relaxing week this past June in the cottage at Lilla Cotta in Northport. It was so peaceful, looking out at the sailboats on Grand Traverse Bay from the deck, enjoying the fire on the beach in the evening, or just sitting in the cozy living room looking out the window at the water. Friday night we walked into town to listen to the concert in the park. Perfect ending. We'll be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
