Perfect stay for a manhattan break

I was looking for a place to take the family for a New York break, and for the same price as a pokey Manhattan apartment, we got a spacious apartment with absolutely stunning views of Manhattan. Seriously, the rental is worthwhile fro the view alone. DO NOT be put off by the "remoteness" of the place. Two buses stop 20 metres from the front door, and drop off even closer. The fare is either $3 or £3.25, and they run every 3 minutes it seems. The apartment itself is spacious, comfortable and warm, with wifi and tv's in every room. A fabulous deck for breakfast coffee or evening wine, soaking in the view. Plenty of towels. My only improvement would be to include a "handbook", listing nearby restaurants, shops, taxis, and other handy tips.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My friends and I were looking to stay near NYC to avoid the high hotel prices, this stay was perfect! We had the experience to live and commute like the locals. This apartment and it’s location was perfect, the view was amazing as we were just across the Hudson. We were on the top floor of the apartment building and had a spectacular view of the city. The apartment was equipped with all the necessities needed to make your stay comfortable. It was clean and spacious, great for our girls getaway. Transportation was an ease – the local bus stop is just outside the apartment and only $3pp and drops you off at Port Authority , it also runs 24hrs so no worries on not making it home. The property manager was extremely friendly and easily to communicate with. All requests were delivered as promised ~ we will definitely stay here again when we return.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This was my first visit to Manhattan, it was going to be a short but special visit as I had just completed my last chemotherapy treatment and my daughters and I wanted to celebrate with a girls getaway. Although I never met Ligia she was great getting back to me via email about any questions I had about the apartment, availability and ease of getting to and from Manhattan. Her assistant Richard met us at the apartment the morning of our arrival, he's a very nice man and very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed talking to him. The view of the city is awesome and the shuttle to and from the house is so convenient. The 3 bedroom we stayed in was roomy and comfortable. I look forward to going back to Manhattan someday and plan on staying at Ligia's house again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Well that is a conundrum: Do you write a gloriously positive review of a place you wish to return knowing that said positive review will decrease the chances of it being free when you want to get back? Oh well.... We arrived smack in the middle of a Nor'easter when meant that the much touted view was nothing but a white sheet. We chose the 3-bedroom apartment which was large, comfortable and originally decorated, if a tad old. We got a lot of good tips from the caretaker including where to get groceries, to avoid that chinese restaurant but to try the fabulous Mexican restaurant next door (it was great!). The kitchen is fully equipped and very useful if you are on a budget and do not wish to spent all your hard-earned cash in restaurants. There is avery convenient bus that takes you one block from Time Squares for 3$/p. We never waited more than 5 min and it really takes less than 15 min to get there. Finally, the sun vanquished the storm and we were finally able to be dazzled by this amazing view of Manhattan on our last day. Be sure to be there in the last hour before sunset and be ready to take lots and lots of pictures.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

We stayed here for four nights total. The first was in the third floor, the next three on the first floor. The first floor was amazing! This being our first trip to New York, we were VERY anxious about transportation from the airport and in to Manahattan. Ligia could not have given us better directions...it was so easy! The shuttle bus stopping right outside was the best, and for only three dollars a person...total bargain. Our floors were dusty when we arrived, but the kitchen was clean, as were the towels and bedding. There were not a lot of dishes, but we managed fine with what we had. It was very quiet at night for sleeping and the views were amazing! We walked to the market and pizza shop at night, feeling safe. Very happy with the price and most of all the ease of getting into the city. We will definitely bring our family here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband , myself and my 3 children ages 15, 13 and 8 stayed here over Christmas. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment for 5 days and we stayed in the 3rd floor 1 bedroom apartment for 4 days. This was our first time to ever visit New York and we were all so pleased with my choice of places to stay. It was even better than we expected. I was worried that the apartment being in New Jersey that it would be difficult for us to get to Manhattan but it was exactly as stated in the listing just 10- 15 min away. it was perfect, a straight shot and so easy to get to Manhattan. We went into Manhattan everyday with the exception of Christmas day in which we all laid around in our PJ's watching Christmas movies all day. We did get out to go eat on Christmas day at a Peruvian restaurant one block over where we ate amazing food for low prices. The restaurant was called El Sol then we had a late dinner at around 9:00 pm at a Guatemalan restaurant that was great!! The owner Ligia was so nice and friendly and even put a Christmas tree in our apartment. Her assistant Richard was great also and took care of us really well. The view from our apartments was SUPER!!!! We left the shades up most of the time because the view was so breathtaking we wanted to take advantage of it a much as we could. At night you can see all of the buildings lit up and it is amazing. We came in late around midnight or 1:00 am almost every evening as we went to several shows. The buses run all night and come by to pick you up almost right in front of the house about every 5 to 10 min. We would take the bus back at around midnight from Manhattan and it would be a full bus and we had no problems and always felt very safe. The neighborhood this apartment is in is very quaint and beautiful. The house (apartment building) is older but quaint and furnished well. It has hard wood floors and tall ceilings. Both apartments was also very clean. I could smell the detergent in the sheets and there was a clean fresh smell when we walked into the apt. We felt so at home at both apartments and we felt very comfortable with Richard and Ligia. This was one of our best vacations ever and we plan on renting from Ligia again and hope to come back next Christmas...Thanks Ligia and Richard for helping make our Christmas vacation here at your apartments so memorable!!!! We loved our stay!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I stayed here for a weekend with my girlfriend for a convention at Javitz. We both absolutely loved the view from the bedroom. Unit was clean and well set up. Proximity to the ferry and local buses were a big plus. The Mexican restaurant (Charrito's) a block away is a great place to eat if you don't want to hussle into the city.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The location of the appartment is truly wonderful with this view and only 20 min. from Manhattan by Bus or ferry. The apartment is not really new, but well furnished and well equipped with new oven and fridge. And with a very friendly caretaker. To mention: Free parking possibility right behind the house.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

We are from Utah, wasn't sure what to expect, was pleasantly surprised! It was a neat old house that was quite and well furnished. I found it to be clean and well put together. The owner Ligia was more than helpful. Inf act, the cleaners forgot to stock toilet paper, but we had it within 5 minutes of calling. She was a sweetheart. If there was any questions, she was available. There are towels for use and bedding. The other question we had was where to catch the bus, it is literally in front of house. Just ask to be let out at the gas station when being dropped off. We also took the ferry from Weehawken across the river near the cruise boat terminal from which we were leaving. We literally just needed to walk down some stairs to the ferry terminal. We have stayed in Manhattan and found this to be a nice change to get out of the madness. That and the price was more than worth it. If you get a chance to eat at the mexican restaurant across the street, I would recommend it. Thanks Ligia, you were very helpful and nice to work with. We will come again when we are in NY again. These apartments are a great location for visiting NYC and surrounding areas! However, I have to agree with the recent review that the apartment was filthy. We rented the 3 bedroom on the first floor. We enjoyed the ease of catching a bus on the corner into Manhattan and back. This was very convenient. Our issues were: First - I didn't know we needed to provide our own washcloths. Being that we had been travelling the entire week before, I ended up "borrowing" washcloths for our family from the hotel we were in the night before our arrival. I left them for the owner and her partner; Secondly - our first morning shower was disgusting! The drain clogged up and remained clogged for all four of us. The shower/bath tub combo had one shower door and a shower curtain. The curtain was FULL OF BACTERIA AND STAFF! I wanted to dowse the whole thing with a bottle of Tilex! Before we left for the day, I called the owner to have it fixed while we were out. When we returned, the tub was empty and a small screen drain cover was in place. BUT - the tub was not cleaned nor was the "curtain". We were thankful that the drain did not clog the next day; Lastly - the floors were VERY dirty. It seemed as if they had not been vacuumed or swept in a long while. I don't like to list all the negative first. While this building/apartment is over 100 yrs old with lots of characteristics, is has a lot of potential to make it very comfortable for the guests. I now wish we had the cleaning money back. The kitchen was nice, well laid out and appeared clean - but we didn't use it. Our time was short so we wanted to see NYC and part of NJ as much as we could. The front bedroom could use some thicker drapes to help keep the early morning sun out. If the floors had been swept and the bathroom kept clean - it would have been perfect. The view from the front porch was awesome!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I'm really sorry this guest had a bad experience regarding the state of the apartment. 95% of the reviews left here are very positive but there is no excuse that this time, the apartment was not upto standards. For this reason, I've decided to hire alternative Cleanining personnel. For anyone renting the apartment. If you find any problem with it, I would greatly appreciate you communicating it with me immediately so that I can remediate it. Thanks, Owner.
