    • We returned for our second and third visit this summer and enjoyed this house immensely. My family of 4 stayed in the 3-bedroom in June, noticing the improvements both inside and out. Richard helped us out greatly, providing all we needed, even walking me to the light rail and assisting me in my travels locally. The shuttle to Manhattan is convenient and took us to the Port Authority in 15 minutes. On our return in July, we stayed in the 1-bedroom(with sleeping for 4). The view from this room is even better! We used this visit to go to the Statue of Liberty, which the light rail took us conveniently to, on a beautiful day! Ligia has always been helpful and efficient in all of our dealings. She has helped arrange travel directions on our first visit when we called from a pay phone, lost in NYC. She was easy to coordinate a late arrival, a pleasure to deal with. We hope that we can visit and see you all again. Best Wishes from Elliott & Pauline, Kayleigh, Chelsea & Teagan

    • I can't think of a time that I have been more pleased to check into such a delightful "home away from home". Richard was so very accomodating. The apartment was lovely. And the neighborhood and views were spectacular. I plan to stay with you on my next trip to New York and have already shared with friends of my pleasant experience at your place.

    • This was a GREAT place to stay while we visited NYC Oct. 31 for 3 nights! We found both Ligia and Richard to be very accomodating. The 3 bedroom apartment was clean and well equipped for our needs. The location is perfect, as you have the awesome view of the NYC skyline on your front doorstep. The convenience of the shuttle buses to Manhattan was also a plus. We enjoyed Dunkin Donuts located just one block from the apartment as a quick, good breakfast stop before going to NYC. The rent for this apartment was very reasonable especially compared to other places in NYC. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip!

We wanted to find a vacation rental near New York, in a quiet place but not too far either. With Ligia's house, we found the perfect place. The house is on the gold coast of New Jersey, facing Manhattan. To get in Manhattan two options. Buses pass by the house regularly. Below, the departure of the ferry allows you to make the journey and enjoy free shuttle to go to tourist sites. Personally, we had the top floor of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped (big fridge, hotplates, microwave). The bathroom is large (shower bath, hair dryer ...). In the lounge / dining room, sofa bed can increase the sleeping capacity. The master bedroom enjoys an extraordinary view breathtaking! The bed is large, the TV too! In short, the ideal location. We had the opportunity to talk to Ligia. The owner is very nice quiet, always ready to serve you. In addition, this house has a story but I plan on Ligia to tell you when you get there ... we came by chance, we will return the love for this place !

    • We were very surprised to read the comments made by a guest of Ligia's. It made us wonder if they were actually talking about the same apartment. We felt it was absolutely necessary to make our own comments because our experiences were nothing but positive. We would actually like to thank Ligia and Richard for making our stay in the apartment a very memorable one. The apartments have a million dollar view, they are wonderful accomodations and we found Ligia and Richard to be extremely helpful. Our stay there this past summer was for a total of 10 days and it was our second time in a few years being in New York and renting from Ligia. We found Weehawken to be a quiet and pretty little town. The convenient transportation to Manhatten is a definite plus and the fact that we had grocery, liquor and laundry facilities all within a five minute walk was amazing. We have recommended these apartments to at least three other couples who have taken advantage of the facilities as well and they were all as pleased as we were. I'm sure that people will look at all of the postive comments that have been made, as they certainly outweigh the negative. We still find it hard to believe that we were both commenting on the same apartments. We support Ligia in her response to the negative comments and wish to inform her that we will certainly be hoping to rent from her again on our next trip to the Big Apple. Sincerely, Max, Debbie and Ashley Power St. John's, NL

    • My husband and I rented the second floor one bedroom apartment from July 30 to August 9, 2009. Our free Manhattan apartment fell through at the last minute and Ligia was very accommodating and sympathetic, and rented her own apartment to us with only two days’ notice. The apartment was very comfortable and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ligia and Richard were most helpful and went out of their way for us. They let us leave our luggage overnight, and even changed the locks on the storage room in order to make sure that our luggage was safe. Midtown Manhattan is only 15 minutes away by bus. The bus stops right in front of the house and we never waited more than 5 minutes for it. The weather was extremely hot and we really appreciated the air conditioned apartment when we returned each day from the city. The view was incredible. We would highly recommend this house and would definitely stay again.

    • In June I contacted several rental properties in Manhattan and New Jersey inquiring about renting. While I’ve used VRBO for vacations to destinations in other states, this was my first time renting in NYC. I guess it can be a risk renting from someone you don’t know or with whom you’ve never dealt. With Ligia though, there is absolutely no risk of this property not being everything, (and more), than I could have hoped. I had contacted her back June and many time between then and the end of October; asking questions, and inquiring about the specific things. Like for example if the apartment had an alarm clock, or was there a clothes iron, or how best to get in to the city. She answered every one of my emails quickly and completely. When I arrived I was met by Richie; who maintains the apartments for Ligia. He was there at Ligia’s request to add some cupboard space. She knew that my daughter was accompanying me, and asked Richie to add them because she felt that my daughter would want her own space. I never even asked for that, and she did it. My daughter really appreciated her thoughtfulness. And Richie was so nice. He’s one of those people who when you talk to, you feel that you’ve known them your whole life. He is easy to talk to and very respectful, and very helpful. The apartment was quite large and spacious; hardwood floors and the entire apartment was clean! It has two Samsung 52” televisions with Dish Network access. There is a large, full-sized bedroom with access to a deck area where you can look out on to Manhattan, or eat a meal. The living room has a queen-sized fold out sofa, complete with line, and two cushioned chairs. The dining room and a large wooden dining table with six matching chairs, and a desk top computer with Internet access. Having the computer is a great plus. Whether it was to make dinner reservations; check bus schedules; or check email. All of which we did. All of which was included. No extra costs. The kitchen has a four-burner gas stove, a large variety of pots and pans. Also plates and utensils, a stainless steel sink with wash cloths and towels. There is a full-sized stainless steel refrigerator/freezer. And let me say it was super clean too. No smells or stains. The bathroom was complete with sink, toilet, and shower. Don’t let the thought of being in New Jersey and not in Manhattan discourage you. New Jersey Transit has a bus stop on the corner out front. Unless traffic is really, really bad, you can be in Manhattan in less than 10 minutes at the Port Authority garage on 42nd Street and 8th Avenue. From there you can catch a cab, ride the Subway, or walk to where ever you need or want. From LaGuardia, it takes approximately one hour by bus and subway. I guess you can tell that our stay was outstanding; from the first email, to arrival, to the accommodations, to the view. Oh that absolutely exquisite and unforgettable view of the Manhattan skyline.

    • If you’re planning to visit NYC, but don’t want to blow your budget on a hotel – rent this apartment! It’s clean, comfortable, well furnished and the views are incredible. My husband and I rented the one bedroom apartment and stayed there for 10 days on our honeymoon. We went into the city every day and the transportation takes no more than 10 – 15 minutes and is literally steps from the apartment. The owner, Ligia, is really helpful and gave us great tips for navigating the city. When we go back to NYC we’ll definitely try and book this apartment!

    • The view from this rental is beautiful, but overall I was very disappointed. All of the reviews mention how friendly and accomodating that the owner, Ligia is. I found no truth in that at all. I never complain about places that I've stayed, but I truly feel that she falsely advertises this place. There were four of us in our group. We emailed about the 2 bedroom and reserved it. When we arrived we had been given a 1 bedroom. This was very disappointing. We never met the owner and she left absolutely no instructions on anything concerning the rental. We rented it from Oct. 13-18. We were left 4 towels and 2 washcloths. The second day we asked the guy who helps her for more towels and blankets. We were not brought towels until three days later. We never received blankets. The only blanket available for the pull out bed in the living room was underneath the coach and looked dirty. There was 1/2 roll of toilet paper when we arrived an that was all the entire time. We had to purchase it ourselves. There was also no hand soap available in the bathroom. The pans in the kitchen were rusted. We were also not left any details about what to do with the trash. It piled up in the kitchen and began to stink. We were there 5 nights. Also, while we were there, the owner a scheduled a cable guy to come in and work on the cable while we were staying there. I was not impressed by this place at all. I have not used VRBO rentals before, and it makes me very leary to use them again.

      Homeowner Response:
I am truly sad to have rented my beautiful personal apartment to someone as ungrateful as this person. The demand for October was extremely high so I decided to make my own personal apartment available. This apartment has a million dollar view, a balcony facing the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline right outside the bedroom. The pots that she claims are rusted are the same pots where my boyfriend cooks the most delicious meals as they are my personal ones. If you read my website you can see that I have two apartments available, a 3-bedroom and a 1-bedroom. She sent me an email saying that she wanted to bring her daughter and two friends to NY for her daughter’s 18th birthday. She asked me if I could give her a discount. In her email she did not specify which apartment she wanted, the 1-bedroom or the 3-bedroom but I assumed she was referring to the one bedroom as I could clearly see that she was in a budget and the 1-bedroom sleeps 4 people. So, I happily answered back with a really great discount for the one bedroom as I truly sympathize with her and wanted her daughter’s birthday to be special. The one bedroom apartment as you can see from the website is $125/nt and I gave it to her for $100 so that she and her daughter could better afford it. I am so surprise that this person is writing this review, I had no idea that she was so displeased with the place. What bothers me the most is that she never reached out to me to let me know her concerns. She had ample of opportunity to do so, I was only an email or a phone call away as the apartment had a pc with internet access and a phone. I would have been as accommodating with you as I have been with everyone else. Richard is my assistant and my handyman, he is always in the premises willing to help as much as he can and answer any questions. As for the cable guy having to come to the apartment to install a new system, unfortunately that is the only day that I could schedule it where I could be there to make sure that everything was done correctly. I was with the technician at the apartment all the time and told the tenants a day in advanced about it. Thanks to the new installation, all tenants now enjoy a much greater channel selection and sharper images. I am so truly sorry that I gave up my own personal space, my comfort, MY HOME for someone like you! Maybe you need a reality check. For the NY area accommodations for 4 people for 100/nt which is the special price I gave you because I sincerely wanted your daughter’s birthday to be special. That price let me tell you, would not even cover a fraction of what I offered you.
