I could not believe my eyes when we looked out of our apartment to NYC. Lots of room, bus is so easy to take. Everyone is so helpful. I have stayed here twice in 4 months and plan on booking it for two stays in 2012.

Unbelievable view from the 2nd floor apartment (Ligia's own suite)! We were very lucky to have sunny clear weather for our entire 5 night stay, making the view every morning and evening spectacular. Ligia was extremely helpful and friendly as well Richard who stayed up to meet us upon arrival. The convenient transportation to Manhattan via bus or ferry was fantastic and affordable. Our days mostly included 10-12 hours away in Manhattan (walking) so our stay in the apartment was minimal. For the price, convenient location and spectacular postcard views I would highly recommend this property. The only "con" is the need for a thorough cleaning. There should not be a cleaning fee for the size of the dust bunnies throughout the apartment (my white socks were black every morning). With a little TLC this is definitely a 5 out of 5 and would recommend if location and view were the most important features required. Thanks (Ligia) for a memorable 50th birthday celebration!

My husband and I were here for the NYC Marathon and we were looking for a place to stay that was convenient to NYC, but not right in the middle of it. This apartment was perfect, and we decided to rent it based on other positive reviews. We rented the third floor, one-bedroom apartment, and it was spacious for us with an outstanding view of Manhattan--wonderful! The "Sphinx" or the "Jordan's Taxi" buses are the best to take into Manhattan ($3--can't beat that!) and they stopped often-all times of the day/night, right at the corner. There's also a ferry directly across the street and down some steps that'll take you into Manhattan, too. Lots of easy options for transportation. The apartment itself is nice and it was perfect for us and we had no trouble getting around town, to Manhattan, to the marathon start, etc. Richard and the owner are very helpful if you have questions, and it was a pleasure to stay there. We would stay there again, and honestly, we'd be very disappointed if it was booked and we couldn't stay again :) We've already recommended it to others, too! You won't be disappointed! Also: the neighborhood seemed totally safe and it was quiet, and there were people out everywhere walking their dogs, jogging, etc, so we also really liked the actual area where it was located, too!

My family, husband, two boys (15 and just 18) and my father (78) stayed here in September 2011. The location is perfect. You are not in the throng of NYC but can view it from a nice distance. The view of Manhattann, both morning and evening was great. We had the three bedroom house on street level. It was so easy to get into the city. I suggested that Richard include an information book in the house. It would have been useful to have some recommendations as to where to eat. There wasn't much local - just a mexican restaurant across the road, which we enjoyed but Ligia thought was expensive. We did go down to the waterfront to Ruth's Chris and the Italian next door and had a couple of lovely meals. Hoboken was really nice for breakfast - the pancake house I think it was called. The kitchen lacked a kettle (but I am assuming that this must be British thing as this is the 3rd VRBO we have stayed in without a kettle - my American friends in AZ have one though ). Would throroughly recommend this place - out of the city - quiet and relaxing. Just watch the world go by on the porch in the morning and in the evening

million $ view of NYC--but can't recommend

Guest: Mike and Miriam (Hamilton, Ontario Canada)
Date of Stay: 08/25/11 Review Submitted: 09/07/11

We recently stayed for 10 nights in the owner's apartment on the 2nd floor. The location was great for getting into NYC with the shuttle. The views of NYC are spectacular and we never got tired of them. The downstairs front porch is very spacious for a large group. The 1 bedroom apt is very spacious and it has some nice amenities such as 2 large screen TV's; air conditioning; a nice big shower and a water dispenser in the large stainless steel fridge. However, the apartment was very tired and rundown looking. It needed a good cleaning and we were very disappointed in its condition and with the grimy appearance. The table tops and furniture tops were not properly dusted or cleaned. The floors around the edges of all the rooms had dust balls and crud lying under the lower counters in the kitchen. The window sills were grimy as was the kitchen sink and inside of the fridge had loads of crumbs--making for a very unsavoury experience. We had to clean up quite a bit before we could make use of some of the areas. The owner, also stayed on the premises but never once checked on us or asked how we were doing--other than saying hi when we ran into her 2 times during our 10 night stay. We were in the apt during Hurricane Irene (Aug/11) and as a result of the driving rain the roof in the living room and bedroom of the owner's apartment leaked badly. The owner didn't even come to check it out at any time while we were home. Her caretaker Richard, who had been quite helpful prior to this; had to be contacted at 3:00 am during the storm to help deal with the leaking roof. He was very concerned and apologetic at the time, but it took him over 3 days after the storm to come back and take away the buckets and towels that were used for catching the leaking roof (despite emailing and leaving a voice mail message with this request). Overall, except for the great view of NYC, and the shower, we do not recommend this apartment to anyone. The only accurate photos on the website were of the NYC skyline--as there were no photos of the 1 bedroom apartment we stayed in.

Our Recent Stay

Guest: DPM (Ohio)
Date of Stay: 08/20/11 Review Submitted: 08/28/11

We stayed at this property for 3 nights and were very comfortable there. The house was clean and well maintained. The view is just as advertised - spectacular. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch after a long day visiting the city. The park across the street that lines the boulevard on which the property sits is very pretty as well. We took the private bus into the city, boarding at a stop right in front of the house. It was a 15-min bus ride and we got off at the NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal. There was some confusion finding the private bus again at the end of the day in the city, so we took the NJ public bus on the return trip. If you aren't familiar with the Port Authority terminal, I suggest you take a few minutes to check it out before you go so you won't have to wander around looking for the bus at the end of the day. Overall we were very satisfied with our decision to stay at this property and would recommend it to our friends.

Definitely A Must Do And You Will Love It!

Date of Stay: 08/19/11 Review Submitted: 08/25/11

My BFF and I decided to go on a girls' getaway to NYC. We found this location and were not disappointed. We opted for the 1 bedroom and flipped to see who got the bedroom with its private porch. The pullout sofa, which never got pulled out was comfy. As with all the other reviews, we loved Richard. He was full of info. 1) Transportation via shuttle - correct 2) Shopping at Kiko's for groceries - correct 3) Shopping at Kiko's across from the grocery store for spirits - correct 4) Pizza at New Pizza on the Block - correct 5) Walk to Port Imperial for the ferry - correct (143 steps up/down several times) Richard is full of info on the house, neighborhood and NYC. Chat with him for 10 minutes and you wished you were staying more days. Ligia was very helpful with our pre-planning. Her notes were dead-on regarding the shuttle and getting to the house. We took the ferry ($9.00 one way) over to NYC. Free shuttles to most places once you get on the other side. I am into history and my BFF is an artist. Lots of history in Weehawken for poltics and prose. Beautiful parks, views in the neighborhood and artwork in the unit. The view of NYC is spectacular. There was a rainstorm and a brownout in NYC. We saw the lights go out and the lights beginning to come back on. Nice! Definitely a must do and you will love it!

Date of Stay: 08/09/11 Review Submitted: 08/13/11

I cannot say enough positive about our experience at Ligia's home. I must start with Richard who took care of all our needs during our stay. We returned home from our last evening in the city at 11:30 only to realize we had misplaced our key to the apartment. We woke poor Richard up at this late hour and he supplied us with another key and was kind and understanding. Thank you, thank you, thank you. He was accommodating and full of valuable suggestions during our entire stay. The apartment was NOT a modern hotel. It is an old, charming, home. That's why we chose it, and that's why we loved it! Of course the view speaks for itself. It is SO easy to get to the city at a reasonable cost. Our family of 6 had room to spread out and relax on the porch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks to Ligia and Richard for a most memorable first trip to NYC.

The location and view are the stars of this listing. The view from 3rd floor unit is stunning over Hudson River. There was easy off street parking space available and perfect for us since we had a car and needed to spend a day in NJ. The remaining 5 days we spent in NYC via the $2.50 each way shuttle bus which picked us up steps from the front porch and dropped us off at 42nd Street Times Square. Have correct cash in hand for bus to make for smooth ride. We also walked down the street a few minutes to catch the NJ train one day to Liberty State Park for statue cruises. Other positives are the covered outdoor porch and plenty of A/C to keep cool during record heat wave and also with hotter temp. on the third floor. Downside is that the building is old like most in the area. This means it was challenging at times to find multiple outlets to charge our phones and other electronics. It's obvious they are trying to maintain the apartment but there's a few rough edges. Some details in the photos were non-existent, such as hanging flowers on the porch as one example. The tight spiral staircase was fine for us but I would not recommend if you have toddlers. Richard met us for check in and we ran into him briefly later in the week. We didn't need to contact him or Ligia during our stay since it went smooth. Overall, this location and the apartment worked well for our family of four and we would stay here again.

Nous avons passé 2 semaines à New York inoubliables.

We stayed in the 2nd floor 1 bedroom apartment. All I can say is...what a view!!!! The apartment is how it was descriibed. There were 3 adults in our party and we had plenty of room. Both Ligia and Richard are very nice and Richard was nearby and very helpful. The bed was too hard for me but by the 2nd night we were so exhausted from our trips into the city that we didn't even notice it anymore. I have already recommended this place to a few coworkers who are very interested. My fiance and I have already started making plans for our next trip.

This was the first of our 23 day E Coast adventure. The apt is a perfect NY get away. Clean, comfortable and affordable. Richard met us, was very helpful and had great stories to tell us. The bus is at the corner for a quick trip to Manhatten. A fun Mexican Restaurant is across the street to the right serving great Margaritas. Our only regret we were only there 2 nights.

Approximate translation... Ligia, Richard, Thank you for this reception and this opportunity to "live NYC" for 10 days in January (2011). The small apartment (above) offers an incomparable view of the skyline and is very functional for two or even four people (no problem). Wake up with the sun rising over Manhattan, with Hudson in the foreground, and the sight of the skyline in the evening ... Magic! We stayed in this apartment a few days, before there is a small heating problem (severe winters in New York!). Richard, already very friendly, was very available in the future. We have been relocated in the flat bottom: Royal! Very spacious, ideal for a large family or even for several couples (3 bedrooms and a large area). In conclusion, this location is an excellent price / quality ratio. With the meeting of two people - Ligia, and Richard - very warm, friendly and helpful. Really, a big thank you again! We look forward to NYC and find the house where a small bus runs every ten minutes and that leads right to Times Square in 10-15 minutes. Great!

We stayed in the 2nd floor apartment, one bedroom with sofa bed, over New Year just gone. It was everything we had hoped for....very comfortable, an amazing view, very easy access to the bus into New York and fully self-contained. The amazing thing for us that is was Ligia's own apartment!!. We arrived a day late as our flight into New York from Chicago had been cancelled so we had to drive from Chicago. We had no sooner arrived at the apartment when Richard arrived to greet us. He is a top bloke and gave us the full run down on the apartment and surrounding area facilites such as supermarket, restaurants, liqour store etc...all very near by. We communicated with Ligia a number of times regarding our late arrival and some payment issues we had and each time she responded promptly. Ligia is very easy to deal with. We absolutely reccommend this apartment to anyone wanting a great stay in New York that is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still close enough so it is easy to get to the city.

One Bedroom Apartment Even Better Than Described!

Guest: Heard and Martha (Georgia)
Date of Stay: 11/04/10 Review Submitted: 11/08/10

We, a professional, married couple with two boys ages 4 and 6, stayed in the one bedroom apartment for four nights during the ING marathon. What a great choice! The property listing prepared us for a wonderful view and great access to the city, but you should also know that there is a queen-size bed in the bedroom beside a window that offers amazing views from the Varazzano-Narrows Bridge on Staten Island to the uppermost parts of the Upper West Side -- just spectacular! We took dozens of pictures of the city from our window. The well-appointed bedroom has a large walk-in closet, a large TV, DVD, a dresser and chest of drawers. Just beyond the french doors separating the bedroom, there is a living room with a small dining table and chairs, TV, computer and day bed with a trundle bed beneath (two separate twin beds). Before we arrived, we imagined there would be a sofa that pulled out into a double bed where both of our boys would sleep (they usually play too much when made to sleep in the same bed), but we were pleasantly surprised to have two separate beds, and they made for a wonderful sleeping arrangement. In the kitchen is a new full-size refrigerator and gas stove if you prefer to cook, and there is a full, spacious bathroom with a combination shower/tub (our children prefer to take baths). On arrival, Richard, a wonderful host, told us about his favorite places to go for dinner and groceries, both of which we visited several times. There are small grocery stores nearby, and Park Avenue Pizza Cafe has wonderful pizza and pasta, which we ate the night before the marathon. The express bus that goes into the city literally picks you up and drops you off just steps from the house, so no need to spend money on taxis getting to and from NY. At the end of a busy day in NYC, it was so wonderful to come back to this safe, quiet neighborhood where our boys could get settled down to go to sleep. We'll definitely stay here again!

Amazing View, Convenient, Just one Suggestion for Owner

Guest: Jackie & Victor (Maine)
Date of Stay: 10/23/10 Review Submitted: 11/11/10

We stayed in the three bedroom ground floor apartment for one week. The view of NYC from the front of this house was addicting - watching the boats and cruise ships from across the river and especially at night when the entire spectular NYC skyline was illuminated - mesmeriziing! Convenience in accessing NYC was exactly as advertised, easy peasy no wait, no problem, very affordable. Ligia was helpful throughout the booking process and her assistant Richard stayed to wait and welcome us even though we arrived 40 minutes later than planned. Richard was also very knowledgeable and helpful in orienting us to the area and ensuring that all our questions were answered and all our needs met. Our one suggestion would be to invest a bit of time, elbow grease and paint in the apartment. This is such a beautiful grande ole dame of a place, full of charm and character - gorgeous hardwood floors, pocket doors, chandeliers, etc. She just needs a little face lift. If the apartment was thoroughly cleaned, cupboards, drawers all nooks and crannies; kitchen cupboards were sanded and restained, and the paint on walls and baseboards was touched up where needed, this apartment would be perfect for anyone, even extremely picky folks. As for us, the view, convenience, tons of space, character and price of this apartment will definately bring us back to this excellent and unique property.

Fantastic. Loved the view, the shuttle, the n'hood, the apt everything was perfect and as described. My husband and I travelled with 2 small children and felt quite safe even when coming in late at nite. Loved walking up to Bergenline Ave for shopping. (Got 2 mens suits for $125). Don't bother with outlet shopping at Jersey Gardens just walk up the road. Headed upstate so hired a car from Enterprise who pick you up and drop you off and have very good rates. The chinese rest near Dunkin Donuts on 48th st was fantastic. There is even a litte playground 2 blocks down for the kids. (Lauras Park). Richard and Liga were great. Would never stay anywhere else if we ever get back. Will definately recommend this property .

Fantastic View but Some Reservations

Guest: Carol & John (Canberra, Australia)
Date of Stay: 09/19/10 Review Submitted: 10/28/10

We stayed for five nights in the one bedroom apartment. It’s difficult to know where to start with this one, but first the positives. Nothing can prepare you for the view from this property – totally unimpeded and straight over the Hudson River to the New York skyline – fantastic by day and spectacular by night. There is a nice balcony overlooking the whole thing. The owner Ligia was friendly and helpful right through the booking process, and when we arrived. The regular mini-bus service, which stops virtually right outside the house, is extremely handy and inexpensive ($2.50 each way) and gets you to the Port Authority Building surprisingly quickly (about 15 minutes). Try to avoid peak times though, because the journey is longer and the lines at the NYC end can be a little daunting. Despite this, you will seldom wait more than 20 minutes and the journey is generally no more than 30 minutes. Most of the buses are fairly comfortable, but there are one or two with hard plastic seats, doubtful suspension and dodgy air conditioning. Parking is available in the driver at the rear of the building (a rarity in this area). The house is a beautiful old building but it unfortunately needs a lot of work. The apartment is reasonably nice and well equipped with two big plasma TV’s and a good cable service. Hopefully the new washer and dryer in the apartment will be hooked up soon, but were not available to us. Ligia’s assistant, Richard, is very friendly and helpful and loves a chat! However, the cleanliness of the apartment left a lot to be desired and for that reason we were reluctant to use the drawers for our clothes. We actually hung some clothes in a rather old wardrobe in the bedroom only to find an expensive jacket damaged by a sticky patch of paint on the side. There was a hole in the false floorboards in the bedroom by the bed, covered by a box of DVD’s, which is a little hazardous. One window lock and the patio door lock were faulty. The bed was altogether too hard and uncomfortable with no give at all, so if you don’t like extremely firm beds, don’t stay in this apartment. Apparently Ligia lives part time in this particular apartment, and this is her preference. Also, there is a reasonable amount of traffic noise both day and night as the house is on a main thoroughfare and bus route. To be fair though, it is hard to get quiet accommodation in and around NYC. Overall, please don’t be too put off by this review. The rate is extremely r

Owner response:Yes, this is an old cozy house and that is precisely where most of it's charm comes from. Famus American painter "Edward Hopper" even made a painting of it in 1935, he named it, "EastWind Over Weehawken". This house is not for people looking for a 21 century modern structure but rather a charming home with a History, breathtaking views and a wonderful price.

The view was just as advertised - spectacular! There was lots of room for 4 women, each wanting their ownspace. It also very convenient, with the buses running every few minutes. There were only two concerns - the house could have been much cleaner. The floor needed to be swept/vacuumed and the kitchen cupboards could have been washed, as they were dirty. Also, we left the towels to be washed on Wednesday, but they were never collected. Overall, though we would stay again, especially if these two areas were rectified.

Owner response:Yes, unfortunately it looks like for some reason in the middle of September the person in charged of the cleaning did not delivered as much as it was expected and I do apologize for that. I have already taken the steps to resolve this. Also please be reminded that this is not a hotel, it is a short term rental apartment, once we give you the keys, we do not go back into the apartment unless there is an emergency or you request us to do so. If you left some towels somewhere in the apartment for us to wash we wouldn't know about that. You would need to call us and let us know that you would like a new set of towels.

My husband and I took my father and his wife on a vacation to Manhatten and stayed the week in Ligia's apartment. We arrived on a holiday weekend and this had caught her and Richard off gaurd. They were not ready when we arrived nor was the apartment. I called to let her know we would be there in a few moments and she was so shocked! Richard dropped everything he was doing in Jersy City and rushed to the apartment to prepare it for us. Yes it was an inconvienence for us to have to wait, but oh the sights we took in just from the porch while waiting... it was amazing!! Richard and Ligia were so nice to us and appologetic, it didn't even matter anymore! The apartment was great. Very quaint and well apointed. The kitchen was well equiped, plenty of linens and towels in the bathroom. Plenty of extra blankets in the wardrobe. No complaints here!!! We never took the little bus to the city, we walked up a couple of blocks to the subway, us country folk couldn't get enough of the subway! The only negative thing I can really say about the apartment the music from one of the other apartments was a bit annoying. The place is fantastic and makes vacationing in NYC that much more enticing and affordable. It's like coming home at the end of an exciting day instead of going into a dreadfully overpriced hotel room! We will be going back MANY MANY MANY times and will be planning our trips around Ligia's calendar!!! It's just that wonderful.

Ligia, what a place ! Everything and more than your comments can say. Fantastic clear view of the skyline we all know. The place is lovely. We had the 3 bedroom, spacious ground floor apartment which had everthing we needed. Sitting on the veranda in the evening after a hard days sighseeing was the perfect end to everyday Getting to and from Manhattan was as simple as hopping on any of many busses outside the house and they drop you directly on 42nd street where you can take off on your sightseeing. Richard was always on hand if we needed anything or just to natter the evening away. We were there for 4th July celebrations and what a viewpoint we had. Good facilities close by too for your groceries or just takeaways and coffees if thats all you want. Liked the Mexican restaurant just across the way, and a good place to eat to start your holiday looking over Manhatten. Could well be a good base should you want to go further afield too as there is a train service just below 10 mins away. We'll probably try that next time and head for the beaches Ligia, what a lovely place you have. We fully recommend it and are doing so to our friends

This place is an excellent location , it has a parking space , along the bus route to New York, and very beautiful view of Manhattan skyline. All the pictures on this site are what you see and enjoy. I will definitely recommend this to my friends. You need to plan and spend a night on the porch , lovely view you can even see the cruise ships across the Hudson river. If your looking for an affordable place to stay with all the amenities when visiting New York , This IS IT !!

Just got home yesterday from a week in paradise(Weehawkwen). Loved the house! It had so much character. Richard was so very helpful, and we just enjoyed sitting on the porch and talking to him. Ligia couldn't have been any nicer. Would love to stay there again. Can't imagine staying in the city now. With the view and the atmosphere "over the river" why would anyone want to stay in Manhatten! Can't wait to go back. Janet, Laurens, SC

My husband and I stayed May 22-26, 2010. Everything on the website was accurate. The apartment was great! We had a balcony where you could hang out and see the entire NYC skyline which was beautiful. Ligia and Richard were wonderful, helpful and kind. The little bus picks you up right in front of the house, takes you into Times Square and then drops you back off right in front of the house again. The ride is nothing...$2.50. I'd rather stay here, across the water than in town. The apartment was clean and comfortable and when we come back to NY again, we will, without a doubt, stay here again.

One of our best Vacations ever

I will first start off by saying that the listing is exactly as the way it is described on the website. Myself and 5 of my friends went out for my birthday and were quite surprised that the bus picked us up. We had lots of luggage and they were so nice to us. It dropped us off directly in front of the property but we were in such awe of the views that we hardly noticed anything other! When we arrived Richard was there to greet us and show us the property and give us the run down on what we had or needed. He also shared the many close stores and restaurants that were near the property. We rented the 3 bdrm floor apartment and let me tell you..well worth the cost which was a very good deal. I did a lot of research on property rentals and hotels and nothing came close to this! I had the bedroom that faced Manhattan...*shed a tear* It was gorgeous. We immediatley walked around the area and found a great Pizza shop that treated us like royalty. A great grocery store where we could buy food for the week(we stayed 6 days) and anything else we needed..toilet paper, shampoo..etc. The wrap around porch was wonderful especially at night when it was raining. We could see the lightening hit the top of the buildings in Manhattan. We did have a problem with the AC unit leaking water but the second I called Ligia the problem was resolved. I have since recommended this property to many of my family, friends and co-workers. I would definitely come back again. There is also a wonderful walking/running path along the river... I did reserve this place almost 5 months in advance and i would recommend you do the same...

My husband and I spent six nights here in April 2010 with another couple. We stayed in the upstairs one bedroom apartment. Fantastic location. Clean and comfortable, nice place to come back to after a long day of exploring New York. VERY easy to get into the city with the shuttle buses right at the front door and to New York in 15 minutes. Great view at night of the city skyline!! Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again if we ever visit New York again.

We stayed here for a week with two small children. There was plenty of room, and everything was great. The shuttle service made getting into and out of Manhattan very easy. We used the local laundromat which was the cleanest we've ever seen. We also visited local shops, and while speaking Spanish helped, it wasn't necessary as the locals were all very friendly. The neighborhood seemed very safe. The view of Manhattan speaks for itself, and I cannot overemphasize how relaxing it was to return "home" after daily treks into busy Manhattan. Overall, we felt that this was one of our best vacations, and this rental property was largely responsible. If we make it back up to NYC, we would definitely stay here again.

Ligia and Richard were terrific and helpful before and during our 5-day stay. Because of a slight disability we stayed in the 3 BR apartment - a wonderful spot of a family or friends, close in to NYC. A great value for what it is. The rooms are large, the kitchen convenient for meals and snacks, and good heat/air-conditioning units – like we saw in Spain. It was helpful to have a place to park our car, although we followed their advice and took the min-buses in and out of the city – and only $2.50 each way per person. The buses showed up every few minutes going in and coming back at night we rarely waited more than 10 minutes for it to fill up and get going. Both Ligia and Richard gave us tips (written and verbal) for transportation, food shopping, and anything else we needed. We came in the November, so we didn’t sit out on the huge front porch and relax and view the Manhattan skyline, but in warm weather it must be wonderful. I did notice a BBQ on the side. I also noticed people mentioned the apartment was clean and had improvements. The way I would describe the 3 bedroom apartment is that the house is older and dingy. Not dirty, because I know it was cleaned… just that some of the “oldness” could not be cleaned and would need refurbishing. Examples would be the bathtub/shower and the bathroom floor. The pictures in the ad make the rooms look bright and cheery, but the heavy drapes (when closed for privacy) keep the rooms very dark. Blinds would be nice and give more light and privacy. My wife wasn’t happy with the older furniture, to me it was OK. The way I looked at it was that this was a very reasonable place to stay for the price and location. I was willing to overlook some things. If we wanted a modern place we would have spent much more of our travel budget. It was nice to have little things like a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, alarm clock, computer access, coffee pot, and dishwasher. What would have also helped is if they had tissues and soap there when we arrived. It wasn’t a big deal, we went and got some the next day… just some little things that help. Overall we enjoyed our stay, felt we got real value for the price, and believe anyone would be happy to have Ligia and Richard looking out for them on vacation. With the mini buses it was easier to get to the heart of the city than if we had stayed in many of the other VRBO places we considered. AND JUST A CAUTION. We looked on Craig’s List and contacted many of the ads. They often seemed to

We returned for our second and third visit this summer and enjoyed this house immensely. My family of 4 stayed in the 3-bedroom in June, noticing the improvements both inside and out. Richard helped us out greatly, providing all we needed, even walking me to the light rail and assisting me in my travels locally. The shuttle to Manhattan is convenient and took us to the Port Authority in 15 minutes. On our return in July, we stayed in the 1-bedroom(with sleeping for 4). The view from this room is even better! We used this visit to go to the Statue of Liberty, which the light rail took us conveniently to, on a beautiful day! Ligia has always been helpful and efficient in all of our dealings. She has helped arrange travel directions on our first visit when we called from a pay phone, lost in NYC. She was easy to coordinate a late arrival, a pleasure to deal with. We hope that we can visit and see you all again. Best Wishes from Elliott & Pauline, Kayleigh, Chelsea & Teagan

This was a GREAT place to stay while we visited NYC Oct. 31 for 3 nights! We found both Ligia and Richard to be very accomodating. The 3 bedroom apartment was clean and well equipped for our needs. The location is perfect, as you have the awesome view of the NYC skyline on your front doorstep. The convenience of the shuttle buses to Manhattan was also a plus. We enjoyed Dunkin Donuts located just one block from the apartment as a quick, good breakfast stop before going to NYC. The rent for this apartment was very reasonable especially compared to other places in NYC. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip!

We wanted to find a vacation rental near New York, in a quiet place but not too far either. With Ligia's house, we found the perfect place. The house is on the gold coast of New Jersey, facing Manhattan. To get in Manhattan two options. Buses pass by the house regularly. Below, the departure of the ferry allows you to make the journey and enjoy free shuttle to go to tourist sites. Personally, we had the top floor of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped (big fridge, hotplates, microwave). The bathroom is large (shower bath, hair dryer ...). In the lounge / dining room, sofa bed can increase the sleeping capacity. The master bedroom enjoys an extraordinary view breathtaking! The bed is large, the TV too! In short, the ideal location. We had the opportunity to talk to Ligia. The owner is very nice quiet, always ready to serve you. In addition, this house has a story but I plan on Ligia to tell you when you get there ...we came by chance, we will return the love for this place !

We were very surprised to read the comments made by a guest of Ligia's. It made us wonder if they were actually talking about the same apartment. We felt it was absolutely necessary to make our own comments because our experiences were nothing but positive. We would actually like to thank Ligia and Richard for making our stay in the apartment a very memorable one. The apartments have a million dollar view, they are wonderful accomodations and we found Ligia and Richard to be extremely helpful. Our stay there this past summer was for a total of 10 days and it was our second time in a few years being in New York and renting from Ligia. We found Weehawken to be a quiet and pretty little town. The convenient transportation to Manhatten is a definite plus and the fact that we had grocery, liquor and laundry facilities all within a five minute walk was amazing. We have recommended these apartments to at least three other couples who have taken advantage of the facilities as well and they were all as pleased as we were. I'm sure that people will look at all of the postive comments that have been made, as they certainly outweigh the negative. We still find it hard to believe that we were both commenting on the same apartments. We support Ligia in her response to the negative comments and wish to inform her that we will certainly be hoping to rent from her again on our next trip to the Big Apple. Sincerely, Max, Debbie and Ashley Power St. John's, NL

My husband and I rented the second floor one bedroom apartment from July 30 to August 9, 2009. Our free Manhattan apartment fell through at the last minute and Ligia was very accommodating and sympathetic, and rented her own apartment to us with only two days’ notice. The apartment was very comfortable and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ligia and Richard were most helpful and went out of their way for us. They let us leave our luggage overnight, and even changed the locks on the storage room in order to make sure that our luggage was safe.Midtown Manhattan is only 15 minutes away by bus. The bus stops right in front of the house and we never waited more than 5 minutes for it. The weather was extremely hot and we really appreciated the air conditioned apartment when we returned each day from the city. The view was incredible. We would highly recommend this house and would definitely stay again.

In June I contacted several rental properties in Manhattan and New Jersey inquiring about renting. While I’ve used VRBO for vacations to destinations in other states, this was my first time renting in NYC. I guess it can be a risk renting from someone you don’t know or with whom you’ve never dealt. With Ligia though, there is absolutely no risk of this property not being everything, (and more), than I could have hoped. I had contacted her back June and many time between then and the end of October; asking questions, and inquiring about the specific things. Like for example if the apartment had an alarm clock, or was there a clothes iron, or how best to get in to the city. She answered every one of my emails quickly and completely. When I arrived I was met by Richie; who maintains the apartments for Ligia. He was there at Ligia’s request to add some cupboard space. She knew that my daughter was accompanying me, and asked Richie to add them because she felt that my daughter would want her own space. I never even asked for that, and she did it. My daughter really appreciated her thoughtfulness. And Richie was so nice. He’s one of those people who when you talk to, you feel that you’ve known them your whole life. He is easy to talk to and very respectful, and very helpful. The apartment was quite large and spacious; hardwood floors and the entire apartment was clean! It has two Samsung 52” televisions with Dish Network access. There is a large, full-sized bedroom with access to a deck area where you can look out on to Manhattan, or eat a meal. The living room has a queen-sized fold out sofa, complete with line, and two cushioned chairs. The dining room and a large wooden dining table with six matching chairs, and a desk top computer with Internet access. Having the computer is a great plus. Whether it was to make dinner reservations; check bus schedules; or check email. All of which we did. All of which was included. No extra costs. The kitchen has a four-burner gas stove, a large variety of pots and pans. Also plates and utensils, a stainless steel sink with wash cloths and towels. There is a full-sized stainless steel refrigerator/freezer. And let me say it was super clean too. No smells or stains. The bathroom was complete with sink, toilet, and shower. Don’t let the thought of being in New Jersey and not in Manhattan discourage you. New Jersey Transit has a bus stop on the corner out front. Unless traffic is re

If you’re planning to visit NYC, but don’t want to blow your budget on a hotel – rent this apartment! It’s clean, comfortable, well furnished and the views are incredible. My husband and I rented the one bedroom apartment and stayed there for 10 days on our honeymoon. We went into the city every day and the transportation takes no more than 10 – 15 minutes and is literally steps from the apartment. The owner, Ligia, is really helpful and gave us great tips for navigating the city. When we go back to NYC we’ll definitely try and book this apartment!
