Great place to stay. Beautifully decorated and everything I could need. Even though one day it rained, just sat by the fireplace and read. Lovely gardens and private. Owner was very accommodating and helpful.

Tropical Garden Hideaway

Nestled in a peaceful, off-road corner, I felt pampered and relaxed in this clean, fresh cottage. Each window and doorway opens to tropical ambience. A private outdoor shower surrounded by ferns and blue sky, was a daily treat; along with the indulgence of thick grass, beneath bare feet, and lounge chairs in sunshine. The attic offered a magical little hideaway spot. It was a delightful walk to the festive downtown area, over a wooden railroad trestle, for cafes, shops, and farmers market. The cottage décor is tasteful, yet unobtrusive. Thoughtful touches everywhere you turn, will meet any possible need you might have. Most of all, I loved the gas fireplace, the window seat in the bedroom and the healthy, life-affirming colors of curtains, plates and towels. At any time of the day or night I could walk to the end of the block for one of the most glorious coastal sights in California: the wharf, boardwalk, coves, and hills of the Santa Cruz coast. This scenic bluff has a popular sidewalk hugging miles of shoreline for an awesome jog or stroll. I can recommend no rental more highly than this one!

I loved my first two visits to West Cliff Cottage and look forward to returning next month. This is a very attractive property with happy bright decor and beautiful landscaping. The cottage is well supplied and is in a perfect location: private, yet only a few houses from West Cliff Drive and just a few minutes' walk to the pier or the downtown shopping area. I couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay in Santa Cruz!

We have stayed several times at this charming cottage. Many nice touches and always spotlessly clean when we arrive. It is set back from the road and surrounded by lush (and maintained) vegetation which makes the whole place feel like a private oasis of serenity. Only a half-block from West Cliff Drive, so scenic walks along the cliff above the shoreline or to the wharf are easy and convenient. The cottage has an open "one-room" feel to it (though the master bedroom can be closed off) so it is perfect for couples, and we imagine it would be fine for a family too (extra beds are in the loft). The patio is in a sunny spot just off the kitchen, nice for lunches or BBQ dinners. Overall, it is a lovely place we will return to again and again. We have tried many different rentals in Santa Cruz before and this is by far the best. Highly recommended.
