Great flats fishing: tarpon, bonefish, permit, snapper, grouper, sharks. Offshore: sailfish, wahoo, dolphin. Fabulous snorkeling and diving at patch reefs, Looe Key, and Little Palm Island. Look for lobster and stone crabs. Big Pine Shoal, reef 6 miles. Back Country easily accessible from Spanish Channel.
Near Bahai Honda State Park and best beach in Keys. Key deer and tropical birds. Close to National Wildlife Refuge.
Long Beach Road is very private and great for walking and biking. Quiet. Tropical. Unique. And just a short drive to Key West with its restaurants, nightlife, shopping and historic Old Town.

Why the Owner Chose Big Pine Key
We discovered Key West in 1972 when Richard landed a 3 month legal internship in 1972. We loved the Keys and returned often over the years to rent vacation homes all over the island chain. We decided that if we ever found a secluded home on the ocean with a beach and dock in the lower keys, we would buy. We found our dream home (just before Hurricane Andrew arrived in Miami) and have never had a boring day. We snorkel, boat, fish---or just relax and watch deer and water birds come and go. Its always entertaining---and Key West is just a few miles down the road.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We swim, boat, fish or look for lobster---or just relax under the chikee at the end of the 165' dock and watch the deer and water birds come and go. The reef is 6 miles out and Looe Key is the best snorkeling destiniation in the Keys. The back country islands await on the other side of No Name Bridge. Long Beach Road is great for walking or biking, and canoeing in Coupon Bight is always eventful. The beach at nearby Bahia Honda State Park is long and wide and always fun to explore.

We loved the Keys and returned to rent vacation houses all over the island chain. We finally decided that if we ever found a secluded home on the ocean with a beach and dock near Key West, we would buy. We found our dream home in 1994 and have never had a boring day. Snorkeling, boating, fishing, or just relaxing watching deer and water birds come and go is always entertaining.
