Casa Verde was constructed in 2003 on beautiful Orcas Island. It is a medium bank waterfront property overlooking the body of water known as East Sound and is located at the end of a lane in a secluded and quiet wooded setting with views toward the village of Eastsound and Mount Constitution. You will see many beautiful sunrises over the mountain and water. Casa Verde is surrounded by firs, maples, and cedars providing a nice area to walk and enjoy the peaceful setting. Relax on the large decks or at water's edge in two large hammocks. Maybe our local eagle will pay you a visit!
Casa Verde features on open floor plan with many windows. The 'great room' features tall ceilings, gas fireplace, dining area, and a kitchen that is equipped with first-class equipment and appliances including a Viking range. The master bedroom with separate bathroom is located on one side of this great room and the other bedroom, office and bathroom are located on the opposite side. The master bedroom features a king-size bed. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed and the office has a queen platform bed. This third room is set up like a small office with a desk and computer hookups and fax machine.
The yard is natural and landscaped with paths and garden beds and rock walls. The large trees give our property a real island feel. There is a patio table and six chairs on the deck facing the water. A wonderful place for your first cup of coffee in the morning. We have two large hammocks hanging in the giant cedars at waters edge for the ultimate of peaceful reading, listening, or watching nature at it's best.
Casa Verde is intended to provide peaceful enjoyment for just those listed in the rental agreement. We do not allow hosting or staging of any type of party or event.
Our maximum occupancy is 4 persons. We do allow a fifth person depending upon the circumstances. Please inquire. Our rates are based upon four persons. Add $50.00 per day for a fifth person.

Our family of 4 rented this lovely home for a late summer get-away. The house was so pretty with appealing natural light. It was very, very clean and so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and more. The weather was nice and we really took advantage of the grounds. Each morning we sat outside listening to the many different bird calls. We could hear the water lapping at the rocky shore below and could see Eastsound in the distance. Each day it looked a little different which was amazing. We saw deer each day, including the piebald deer which has unique markings. We ate all our meals outside because we loved the surroundings so much! While our teenagers enjoyed the Wi-Fi to keep in touch with friends, they really loved the hammocks for getting last-minute school reading done and spent more time outside than in. :) The house is conveniently situated to Eastsound and beyond. We loved exploring all the corners of the island. Doe Bay was a favorite and we loved the hike down to Obstruction Pass state park. Mt. Constitution is a must see for the panoramic views and a whale excursion was a fun way to get out on the water and check out the abundant wildlife. This home is so lovely inside and out. We felt very spoiled staying here and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Casa Verde was truly a magical house - four days was not long enough to experience all the charms of the house or of Orcas Island. The owner achieved the rare combination of having a beautifully decorated home (fabulous pottery and artwork, attention to every detail) that was so cozy and comfortable to hang out in. The house had such an inviting and airy feel, filled with bright colors, wonderful natural light, and amazingly beautiful scenery - views of Eastsound from the deck, living room and all of the bedrooms. The kitchen was well-organized and well-stocked, which was a joy for the cooks in our group who created some wonderful meals. The yard was lovely, with flowers and wandering deer. I wish we could have spent more time just hanging out in this special home, but the island called and we did enjoy some wonderful outings - hikes around Mt. Constitution and nearby lakes, whale watching cruises, and visits to galleries where the beautiful pottery and sculptures competed with the unbelievable outdoor settings in which they were show-cased. Casa Verde was conveniently located to the town of Eastsound, with its wonderful shops and bakeries, as well as to all of the outdoor activities we enjoyed. While the photos and descriptions of the property are accurate, they don't truly capture the beauty and magic of this very special place - it must be experienced in person! Can't wait to return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you and all the folks who have taken the time to let us know how much you enjoyed Casa Verde. We do hear so many wonderful things here in this guest review, in our sign in book at Casa Verde and personal emails. We are very glad to know that others find our home and Orcas Island as magical as we do and we look forward to your return!

From the beginning Ann was a gracious host and made the rental process efficient and personal. She provided grocery, ferry and restaurant information based on our interests. Her home is a sanctuary for those of us who enjoy natural beauty, tranquility and a great kitchen. Sitting on the deck overlooking the sound or swaying in the hammock surrounded by the trees could entice us not to leave the house to explore the island. But we were able to tear ourselves away to find Orcas to be a wonderful mix of galleries, hiking trails, tasty food and friendly people. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Case Verde is beautiful and even more picturesque than the photos. The house is so nicely decorated and inviting. It was the perfect place to relax and spend the weekend. The gourmet kitchen is a cook's dream. The location is close to East Sound town and the views from the house are lovely. I would stay at this place again when I return to Orcas.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We have stayed in rental/VRBO homes across the US and beyond for more than 20 years. This home ranks among our top 5, and far surpasses all the homes we have stayed in on Orcas, San Juan and Whidbey Islands. The warm floors throughout (especially in the master bath) were a wonderful treat during our cold and rainy days. The fireplace not only provides a soothing ambience, the warmth after our daily hikes was invaluable. The kitchen was clearly the best of all the kitchens we've encountered. In addition to having every kitchen tool and appliance known to person-kind, we found a cupboard full of spices, providing just the right spices we needed for one of our meals. We had so much fun cooking we made every meal at home....imagine waking up to homemade buttermilk waffles and eating breakfast while listening to the birds and watching boats on the water! Even the library of books in the 2nd bedroom was a treat to peruse. We left a couple of our own books, our contribution to the curl-up-with-a-good-book vibe we felt. Proximity to the water, and those fantastic views from every room....icing on the cake. I cannot express how fun it was to go to the golf course just down the road and find they have an honor system for greens fees. Now THAT can easily restore one's faith in humanity! Finally, our thanks go to the owner, Ann. Ann is wonderful to work with, very responsive via both phone and email. Thank you Ann, our experience could not have been better!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This is such a gracious home. These foodies loved cooking in the gourmet kitchen that is incredibly well stocked and well kept. The beds are super comfortable with high end linens. The property is fairly secluded, but town is just a short drive away. We loved staying here and are already talking about when we'll return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: We are Deke and Annie DeKay. Deke is in the real estate world and Annie is a CPA. We live most of the time in Healdsburg, California.
Why the Owner Chose Eastsound:
We have been visiting the San Juan Islands since 1978 when some good friends bought a farmhouse on Lopez Island and knew someday we would figure a way to come back more often. Finally, after building a small cabin in 2000, we sold that, and then designed and built Casa Verde and have been enjoying yearround visits ever since! We love the Pacific Northwest salt water, kelp and cedar smells and as you can tell from our photo, have learned boating!
