Perched in the hills at the tip of the village of Chiesanuova, La Sosta is a mere 5 km from both Levanto and the first of the Cinque Terre, Monterosso.
Walk to the Cinque Terre directly from the Inn by following the marked pathway through olive groves and pine forests or sunbathe and swim at the nearby beaches of Levanto and Monterosso: whatever your pleasure, La Sosta di Ottone III is the perfect starting point.
By car you can venture further to Lucca, Genova, Pisa and Portofino which are all roughly one hour's drive away.
There are four spacious suites: Ottone III, Silvestro II, Teofano and Adelaide. All are decorated with an appealing blend of antique furnishings and décor with stunning marble or mosaic en-suite bathrooms. From each suite, guests can admire a spectacular view overlooking the Levanto valley and the sea.
Particular care has been taken to use local materials and artisans for decoration and furnishings.
A Continental breakfast is served daily between 8:30 and 10:00 am. Typically you will be offered a choice of: coffee/tea/chocolate/milk; bread/butter/jams/honey; a local cake or brioches; cereal/yogurt/fruit juice.
Local historians claim that Otto III (980-1002) was a guest of the Zattera family in this house in year 996 on his way to Rome to be crowned Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire at the age of 16 by Pope Gregorius V. It is likely that he visited the Soviore Sanctuary which is about three km from the house and it is the most ancient sanctuary in the Liguria region.
Hence the name: La Sosta means "stop over".
In 2002 the owners, Fabio Graziani and Angela Fenwick, renovated this house and turned it into an understatedly elegant and welcoming country Inn. |
