You can "have it all" in the Berkshires! Our cozy contemporary home is less than 30 minutes from all Berkshire cultural and historical attractions, but tucked away in woodsy peace and privacy. Our four acres look out over a large lawn, lovely flower and herb garden, old apple orchard, and trout stream to a facing wooded ridge. Large windows and doors and a wraparound deck bring the beautiful views of trees and sky into the house. Our hillside location at 2000 feet elevation ensures cool breezes all summer and lots of snow in the winter.
The house provides everything you need for a comfortable and convenient vacation (or honeymoon!) All linens and towels, a wood-burning fireplace, completely equipped kitchen stocked with food staples, a Dux bed, sound system, and lots of activities for kids, including a tall swing, raspberries and blueberries to pick, and toys and games.
Within four miles from the house you will discover a sandy beach and boat launch on a large lake, horseback and trail riding, two cross-country ski areas, hiking on the Appalachian trail, blueberry picking, and access to October Mountain, the largest state forest in Massachusetts.

Third summer visit to this wonderful place. As I wrote in the past, this house really lives up to all of its billing, and much, much more. Replacing the sounds of the city with the sounds of birds (including a woodpecker!), the glare of city lights with a spectacularly starry sky works its magic. And, at the same time, we're staying in a house that is as well-equipped as our own. Anything we think of is always at hand. Being a short ride from both Jacob's Pillow and the Dream Away is great -- and on pretty country roads. This house is clean and homey with lots of interesting touches. It's built to take great advantage of the views. And there's even a tree swing. And, the owners are immediately responsive to any questions or needs; including lots of good area information at the house and email and phone access any time. This hillside hideaway is everything we look for in a vacation rental, and reflects the care and attention of the owners.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house is great, and well-outfitted for a family of four (two adults, two kids). You could easily have one or two more people without feeling cramped, except that there is only one bathroom. The view is great, the furnishings were comfortable and there is appealing art on the walls. We very much enjoyed our stay and are already trying to plan our summer 2013 to be able to return! Try to plan your arrival to show up while it's still light out...it can be a little stressful finding your way along the back roads in the dark. Also, if you are in Lenox or Pittsfield there is a northern approach to the cabin that is much easier than the directions from Lee.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We loved it here so much last year that we came back again this summer. As we found last year, this property totally lives up to its promises. The house and grounds are lovely and beautifully kept. Everything you could possibly need is there. Sitting on the deck and listening to the birds, watching the trees sway in the breeze, soaking up the sun is an experience of complete relaxation. And, it's a perfect launching point for visits to Jacob's Pillow, the Dream Away Lodge, Tanglewood, Stockbridge, Pittsfield, etc. The owners are extremely helpful and make themselves available for any questions that may arise while you're there (although their thorough resource binder in the house pretty much answers any anticipated questions.) The house is immaculately clean and very comfortable. We hope to return again next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Never before have we found a summer rental to live up to its description or to our expectations. This wonderful house did -- and more. Rika and John have made a perfect getaway and thought of everything that one may need while there. We were so comfortable and very quickly felt very much at home. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, the views spectacular. Easy access to all the cultural attractions of the Berkshires but when you're at the house, it's quiet and secluded and private. The perfect combination. We hope to return again and again. It is heartening to find such a haven and the people who created it and are willing to share it! Rika and John provided excellent directions, suggestions, instructions, etc. and were available for questions, even while we were there. Couldn't ask for better owners or a better spot to spend a lovely vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids who spent a lovely fall weekend at the "Hillside Hideaway" and it could not have been more perfect. The house had everything we needed and the owners were extremely helpful with things to do in the area and places to eat. The Dreamaway Lodge is the closest restaurant and we actually went there twice because we liked it so much. We took some nice hikes and went horseback riding and apple picking. Very close to Lennox for additional activities. We hope to return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Rika's house is beautifully situated with lovely views across the wooded valley, and well-placed for trips to Tanglewood, Stockbridge, Lenox and the Dream Away lodge. Rika and John maintain their house as their family holiday home. They were exceptionally responsive to all questions we had. We had a very calm and relaxing holiday.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.
