Sandwiched between perfect sunrise and sunset, your days at our Crescent Castle have a lot to live up to. How will you fill the daylight hours? Try endless breakfasts with your family or lazy afternoons in your private pool. Life at this gorgeous ocean-front home won’t be that hard, after all.
This is a big house. Sleeping 14, late-arriving guests might fear they’ll be stuck in a dingy cupboard. Not so at Sunrise Castle - where views are liberally dispensed. Parking - not a problem. Wireless internet - of course. Pool table and foos ball - definitely. True love - daily.
A massive wrap-around deck allows you to follow the sun all day - changing the contents of your glass from morning orange juice and fresh-brewed coffee, to icy afternoon lemonade to the evening’s perfect party sangria.
On the second floor, a sub-set of your group (perhaps an individual family or age range) has a separate entrance to call their own. They can spread out and enjoy a vacation on their terms: a fully-equipped kitchen, large living room and exciting games room await. White-washed walls and wooden beams are idyllic. Two bedroom choices include a king-sized bed or two twin beds, while the living room’s futons become two queen beds.
Better still is the third floor, where dream oceanfront living is yours around the clock. Variety in outdoor dining and lounging areas puts you east for the morning sunrise and west for the evening sunset. Seafood barbecues are a must.
An independent group is a happy group - and a third-floor separate entrance ensures just that. Here, others in your party can choose from two more bedrooms: a king bed and a queen bed. Each have their own bathroom. Yet another full kitchen and fantastic living room ensure you have it all - why can’t real life be this easy?
Furniture in all rooms is detailed and luxurious. Accessories and decorative pieces add interest - not clutter. The colours are warm and honeyed - great contrast for the sand and sea outside. Wood-panelled walls and shutters speak to the home’s ‘beach hut’ inspiration.
A private walkway to the beach enables an A-Z list of familial playtime, solo relaxation or romantic escape. Yet, the chance to stumble out of bed, straight to your heated pool might make the beach seem - dare we say - redundant? Fenced for children’s safety, with spacious poolside decking and lots of palm trees - this is the good life.

It's a treehouse

My family of 11 stayed here for the week of Thanksgiving. And while we weren't expecting the Ritz (we loved that the house allowed pets), we were hoping for the pictures to convey the truth. In reality, the house felt liked it was built by people that had no idea what they were dong. Should an inspector stop by for a visit, I wouldn't be surprised if this place was condemned. The floors sloped to a point where you would actually feel like you were walking down a ramp instead of simply crossing the room. We couldn't help but laugh when we placed an apple on the kitchen counter and it rolled downward to the other side of the room (the lower side). As for the bottom floor, one bathroom (only accessible by one of the two bedrooms) wasn't sufficient for the 8 people the house claims to sleep. Enough said. As for the "elevator" that didn't work. As for our 91 year-old grandmother, she was confined to the top floor (the four flights of stairs are not lit, and not sturdy). And since there was an additional four flights of stairs to the beach, she only made it to the sand once. Sad but true. Sometimes, we would actually feel the house swaying in the wind. And then there was the strange scampering in the walls. We hoped they were just squirrels. But when the flies came, we realized we might be wrong. As a final farewell, the kitchen was full of flies (which made no sense since we did our dishes after ever meal). Actually, we had to, the dish washer was broken. And when it came time for bed, we all nestled our heads onto the plastic pillows that were provided. For those of us that were granted beds, the crunch of the plastic bedding was just the added touch we needed. This place is over-priced by a long run. Unless you want to pretend you are staying in a treehouse, keep looking. Or simply take your expectations down as low as you can. Then when you arrive, you might be ok.
Owner response:We are the new property management company that was hired to manage the house. We take feedback very seriously. The Crescent Castle has not been advertised as having an elevator since 2009. The elevator no longer works, and we do not advertise this as a feature. It also accurately indicated 3 full bathrooms. We did take over management of the house in the 1st quarter of 2011, and the owner has spent a small fortune in money for renovations. The pictures were just recently taken after renovation work, and are accurate. We do take service seriously. Having said that, we do not advertise the property as having an elevator. This house has plenty of space for a large gathering. So much space, in fact, that you can find a quiet corner even in a crowd. Renting from Mr. Chapman is like staying at the home of a family friend.
