Accommodations:  Mountain Home, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

This is a lovely historic cabin, nestled in the woods at 9000 ft., with a rainbow trout stocked pond just a few feet away. The cabin, 100 years old, has been completely restored for beauty and comfort. This romantic log house has a fully equipped modern kitchen, a main floor master bedroom with a queen size bed and bath with a claw foot tub. The upstairs has two bedrooms, one with twin beds and one with a double bed. The upstairs bathroom has a walk in shower. A portable crib and high chair are available in the cabin. The home has stained glass throughout and is filled with antique and rustic furniture. The woodburning fireplace was built from rocks in the area. The cabin sits on 70 acres with two additional ponds and is "user friendly" for hiking.

The cabin is surrounded by a 3000 acre ranch with private roads that are excellent for mountain biking (bikes not provided). This vacation home is perfect for honeymoons, active families, or quiet get-aways. A full-size sit down Pacman game will keep all ages entertained. The wrap around porch is perfect for watching sunsets, wildlife and the many birds that frequent the area. The sky and the stars are incredible. The porch has a picnic table that seats 10.

Located near 11 Mile Reservoir which has excellent fishing. It is perfect for day trips to the small historic town of Guffey, Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge in Canon City, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Fossil Beds National Monument and the Hornbeck Homestead near Florissant, the historic town of Cripple Creek for gambling , or Colorado Springs, the home of the Garden of the Gods and the Air Force Academy. Above Cripple Creek lies the largest active gold mine in the United States, and above the gold mine is the old mining town of Victor. An hours drive away is the Arkansas River for white water rafting. Or you might want to just relax, hike the 70 acres around the cabin, or fish for rainbow trout in the pond in front of the cabin.

The cabin has been in our family for many years and this is the third season we have opened it to the outside world. We hope if you decide to try it, you will derive the same joy and peace we have experienced from it.

Bunk house with loft, which sleeps four to six, close to the main cabin may be rented for an additional fee. This charming "bunk house" is small but comfortable. It has electricity, electric toilet, satellite TV but no running water. It has an antique, mission style double bed on the first floor and a loft that sleeps 4-6 comfortably.

    • What a wonderful week at your property. What surprised and delighted me most was the birding - much of it without the need to leave the porch! Hiking, fishing, birding, playing games on the porch and reading... all without the incoming chaos daily life brings. Exactly the relaxing experience we were looking for (and needing)! Thank you! • Had a GREAT time - 7 adults, 2 children and a 6 month old baby - Roomy enough with the bunkhouse that we survived a week and loved it!Good fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, cool weather and a comfortable facility for an extended family. Four of us fished the S. Platt in 11-mile Canyon as well - and caught our limit both days. Enjoyed fishing the community pond with the grandkids Enjoyed the Old Kathleen Gold Mine in Cripple Creek and horse back riding north of Florrisant. Thanks Pat !

    • This was the perfect place for us to enjoy family time. The surroundings take your breath away and the Cabin is wonderful. We fished, hiked and just enjoyed the outdoors as much as possible. It is the perfect place for those who what to get away, yet still have lots to do and the beauty is remarkable.I think the boys will always remember saving the fawn from the hole it fell into and returning it to it's mother. They walked off together and we saw them again the next day. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

    • The Cohen Homestead over delivered. If you are looking for a rustic Colorado get-away - this is your place. We originally planned on taking a number of day trips, but ended up only leaving the cabin once. Didn't feel the need to leave the ranch. Thank you Pat for opening your home to us. See you next year.

    • Your place was beautiful. We went with group of people and my family stayed in the "Bunkhouse". My kids loved sleeping in there. We all slept in the loft. The wildlife was amazing. The animals were not afraid of us and came right up to the cabin. Your cabin was remote enough to enjoy peace and quiet but close enough for us to make it to Pike's Peak, The Royal Gorge, The Garden of the Gods, and Brown's Canyon, just to name a few. I plan to return again next year!

    • The cabin was so much nicer than the pictures even! We enjoyed our stay very much, saw lots of wildlife, and had fun trying to catch fish. It is truly a relaxing experience and the cabin is stocked with everything. Thanks for the fun three days!

    • Absolutely relaxing! Abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery made for a most enjoyable week. Far enough away from everything yet close enough to make easy day trips to the best of southern Colorado. Everyone enjoyed the fully equipped cabin and bunkhouse and the grandkids enjoyed the openness and freedom to roam in a terrific outdoor environment! Pat, thanks once again for sharing your home and ranch with us!

    • SPOILED!! That is what John said about our vacation time at “The Land”. Everything was perfect, just like the last two times we vacationed here. Our family enjoys our time spent here so much that we all hate to leave & start to count the days until we return next year. Our children love the fishing that is available, we explored ATV trails & even took in a mountain nap on one of them just like last year. The neighbors are very friendly & helpful if need be. Pat & the boys visited us again this year & we talked sports like always! Thank you Pat for always making us feel welcome & sharing your “Land” with us. We LOVE our time spent here, see ya next year!! John, Heidi & family Nebraska

    • My husband and I spent our honeymoon in July, 2008 at this beautiful mountain retreat. It was the perfect place to get away for some peaceful time alone, away from our hectic daily lives. We made several day trips, joined in some of the local town's activities, and returned every evening to this wonderful cabin. Several days were spent just enjoying the quiet seclusion of this lovely property, going for walks or sitting out on the front porch enjoying the view and the hummingbirds. Thank you, Pat, for sharing your little corner of Colorado with us. It made our first week as husband and wife perfect and filled with wonderful memories.

    • This cabin is so beautiful. It's quiet and feels so much like home. We had a group of 12 with 8 children from 15 years to 3 years-and everyone absolutely loved it. The accomodations are wonderful- the kids loved the bunk house and anything you might need is provided in the cabin, from fishing poles, bait, tackle, it's was home away from home and a week wasn't long enough. We hiked, fished, the kids climbed and ran all over the place. This cabin is secluded- and the views are incredible-We made day trips into Canyon City, Victor, Cripple Creek, Flourisant, Colorado Springs all within 30 min. to 1 hr away-We can't wait to go back. We also went horseback riding on the McNamera Ranch, were they accomodated us all-including horse and carriage for grandma and the little ones. This was the best vacation ever-and we can't wait to go back.
