Absoultely Breathtaking!

Guest: Matthew (Lake In The Hills, Il (Chicago))
Date of Stay: 06/26/11 Review Submitted: 07/06/11

There isn't enough words to describe our visit, Heaven on Earth. The pictures don't do it justice. From the moment we pulled up I was totally relaxed, and felt right at home. The sights are awesome. I spent many days just sitting on the porch taking in all the breathtaking landscapes. My family took in plenty of activities in the area. The Royale Gorge, 11 mile reservoir, downtown Cripple Creek, even a local canyon (paradise cove, or Brown's canyon) with it's own swimming hole. Not to mention all the hills that we ventured up, just to check out the different views of the mountains. If you thinking of staying here, don't. JUST DO IT!!! You won't be disapointed.

Owner response:Thank you, Matthew, for your kind words. We are always so happy when a guest enjoys our cabin and property.

Great Stay - Again!

Guest: Rose Guarino (Huntley, IL)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 07/05/11

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The accommodations are wonderful! I would and have recommended to anyone who is interested in staying in Colorado. We spent about a week at the ranch and enjoyed the serenity it offered. It is such a peaceful place and that's why we keep returning. My husband and I get to rest and enjoy the scenery and the children get to explore the land. Thanks again!

Owner response:Thank you, Rose, for the compliments re:our cabin and land. We still are amazed when we sit on the porch and see the beauty of the rolling hills, meadows, and mountains in the distance. Our land is wonderful to explore!

One step closer to Heaven!

Guest: Bill, Maureen and Kaitlynn (Needham, IN)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 09/17/11

We loved our stay in this historic mountain home. Right away we new the covered front porch would be our favorite spot during the day when we weren't out exploring the property or the Pikes Peak area. Walking into the inviting cabin you knew you were in for a restful, relaxing stay with all the comforts of home - the claw foot tub was a luxury! Laying in the lounge chairs on the open deck late into the night watching the night sky move overhead was magical. As much as I would like to keep this cabin a hidden treasure, it would not be fair to prevent others the opportunity to experience the restorative nature of this beautiful home and the love that has been put in every thoughtful part of it.

Owner response:The best advertisement for our property is a satisfied renter. We know Maureen and her family were satisfied because they are coming back next year!

2nd Consecutive Visit

Guest: Jeff B (Des Moines Iowa)
Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 01/24/11

This place is heavenly. Two years ago friends and I found this location and had an amazing time. The owner cares about her property and manages it exceptionally well. We had such a great time in 09 that we came back '10. It is perfect! Secluded, yet great for those of us that moutain bike! Kitchen is very well stocked with basics The grills are very functional. There is a bit of a challege with outside communication. For our group this is a blessing. No cell phone coverage forces us to disconnect from the world-and enjoy the unparalled scenery. The cabin is well built and is very comfortable. We are so lucky to have found this "God gift" and our group of friends have developed priceless memories at this family gem. I can't wait until my boys are a bit older(6&4) this is my ideal location for 'manland'. This cabin represents some of the finest times in my adult life and it is becuase it is "home". "Home" with a view of God's greatness of our amazing country. I would strongly encourage you pay close attention to property lines. Our first trip, we made the mistake of walking onto a piece of property that was not 'ours'. Certainly created a few tense moments during the process of apologizing to the other land owners. This is a very sparsely populated area, with few people. Logistics for food, drink etc are important. Planning on the front side is key as there is a finite pool of local resources. If you forget something you are driving a good way to get whatever you forgot. This place is great, with awesome owners! I am trying to figure out how they could adopt me into the family so I could use it more :)

Wonderful Family Retreat

Guest: PRWoody (Jefferson City, MO)
Date of Stay: 08/09/10 Review Submitted: 03/24/11

What a wonderful family retreat! We spent a week at the ranch and enjoyed the peace and serenity it offered. We were greeted each morning by deer and elk, enjoyed the fishing and quiet afternoons and took in the gorgeous views in the evening. With three active children, we were unsure how they would take to the restful nature of the ranch. As soon as we got into the car to return home, the entire family asked to return. In addition to the beauty and activities offered by the ranch, we enjoyed Pikes Peak, the Dinosaur Museum, the Garden of the Gods, Cripple Creek, the Royal Gorge, the petrified forest and many other activities. Our plan to return this summer has been derailed by summer school and activities at home, but we do plan to return soon. The ranch offered a wonderful week of family fun, conversation and a lifetime of memories.

Absolutely perfect place to vacation

Guest: Anna Zatopek (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/13/10 Review Submitted: 04/01/11

My family spent a week here at the cabin. It was not enough time. We drove from Austin and arrived about two hours before checkin time. They were still cleaning it from the last renters, but graciously allowed us to come on in and stretch our feet, unload our stuff and check everything out. Upon driving up to the cabin, I had to catch my breath...literally. The view took my breath away. I was stunned with how absolutely beautiful the scenery was and almost cried. In fact during our entire stay, it would always take me just a moment to take it all in and allow myself to realize that natural beauty like this does indeed exist in the world. The cabin was beyond comfortable. Every comfort of home is here. There was more than enough space for the seven of us. My family LOVED staying here. We took up the whole property including the bunkhouse. Everyone was more than comfortable. The electric toilet was a little intimidating at first, but the instructions were very clear and easy. We fished, hiked, biked and sat on the bank of the pond and on the porch the whole time and loved catching the different colors of the sky as the weather changed from snow, to sleet, to sunshine, to rain and from chilly to perfect in JUNE. We even got a double rainbow at one point. You can see forever! I absolutely loved every moment of our time here. Tiny baby bunnies would hop onto the porch to check us out. If you are a bird watcher, this is the place for you. The hummingbirds would come and practically sit on your shoulder. I'm not kidding. There is a wooden swing sitting amongst the Aspens overlooking the pond - a perfect place to wind down or take a nap (like our three year old did). This place is magical! Do not hesitate to take the time to come here. You'll be very glad you did. Thank you Pat!

Owner response:Anna has captured the essence and heart of our cabin and land! We are always so happy when a family enjoys their visit and feels our cabin and its decorations (our land) are special! Thank you Anna, for putting into wonderful language exactly how our family feels.

What a wonderful week at your property. What surprised and delighted me most was the birding - much of it without the need to leave the porch! Hiking, fishing, birding, playing games on the porch and reading... all without the incoming chaos daily life brings. Exactly the relaxing experience we were looking for (and needing)! Thank you! Had a GREAT time - 7 adults, 2 children and a 6 month old baby - Roomy enough with the bunkhouse that we survived a week and loved it!Good fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, cool weather and a comfortable facility for an extended family. Four of us fished the S. Platt in 11-mile Canyon as well - and caught our limit both days. Enjoyed fishing the community pond with the grandkids Enjoyed the Old Kathleen Gold Mine in Cripple Creek and horse back riding north of Florrisant. Thanks Pat !

This was the perfect place for us to enjoy family time. The surroundings take your breath away and the Cabin is wonderful. We fished, hiked and just enjoyed the outdoors as much as possible. It is the perfect place for those who what to get away, yet still have lots to do and the beauty is remarkable.I think the boys will always remember saving the fawn from the hole it fell into and returning it to it's mother. They walked off together and we saw them again the next day. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

The Cohen Homestead over delivered. If you are looking for a rustic Colorado get-away - this is your place. We originally planned on taking a number of day trips, but ended up only leaving the cabin once. Didn't feel the need to leave the ranch. Thank you Pat for opening your home to us. See you next year.

Your place was beautiful. We went with group of people and my family stayed in the "Bunkhouse". My kids loved sleeping in there. We all slept in the loft. The wildlife was amazing. The animals were not afraid of us and came right up to the cabin. Your cabin was remote enough to enjoy peace and quiet but close enough for us to make it to Pike's Peak, The Royal Gorge, The Garden of the Gods, and Brown's Canyon, just to name a few. I plan to return again next year!

Absolutely relaxing! Abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery made for a most enjoyable week. Far enough away from everything yet close enough to make easy day trips to the best of southern Colorado. Everyone enjoyed the fully equipped cabin and bunkhouse and the grandkids enjoyed the openness and freedom to roam in a terrific outdoor environment! Pat, thanks once again for sharing your home and ranch with us!

SPOILED!! That is what John said about our vacation time at “The Land”. Everything was perfect, just like the last two times we vacationed here. Our family enjoys our time spent here so much that we all hate to leave & start to count the days until we return next year. Our children love the fishing that is available, we explored ATV trails & even took in a mountain nap on one of them just like last year. The neighbors are very friendly & helpful if need be. Pat & the boys visited us again this year & we talked sports like always! Thank you Pat for always making us feel welcome & sharing your “Land” with us. We LOVE our time spent here, see ya next year!! John, Heidi & family Nebraska

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in July, 2008 at this beautiful mountain retreat. It was the perfect place to get away for some peaceful time alone, away from our hectic daily lives. We made several day trips, joined in some of the local town's activities, and returned every evening to this wonderful cabin. Several days were spent just enjoying the quiet seclusion of this lovely property, going for walks or sitting out on the front porch enjoying the view and the hummingbirds. Thank you, Pat, for sharing your little corner of Colorado with us. It made our first week as husband and wife perfect and filled with wonderful memories.

This cabin is so beautiful. It's quiet and feels so much like home. We had a group of 12 with 8 children from 15 years to 3 years-and everyone absolutely loved it. The accomodations are wonderful- the kids loved the bunk house and anything you might need is provided in the cabin, from fishing poles, bait, tackle, it's was home away from home and a week wasn't long enough. We hiked, fished, the kids climbed and ran all over the place. This cabin is secluded- and the views are incredible-We made day trips into Canyon City, Victor, Cripple Creek, Flourisant, Colorado Springs all within 30 min. to 1 hr away-We can't wait to go back. We also went horseback riding on the McNamera Ranch, were they accomodated us all-including horse and carriage for grandma and the little ones. This was the best vacation ever-and we can't wait to go back.

Pat, Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. We had a wonderful time. We brought our 12 and 14-year old grandsons with us who had never been to Colorado, the mountains, been trout fishing, whitewater rafting, and had very limited time on a horse. We did all of this and had a great time. McNamara's Stables had excellent horses. Both Sheila and Virginia, our trail guide were most helpful. We saw elk on the ride, went through the national forest and onto the adjoining ranch for great views. The afternoon we arrived we went fishing in the pond that is a short distance walk behind the bunk house. The first fish I caught was one of the stockers. It was a nice fish, but shortly after that I caught a 17 inch rainbow. We had trout for dinner that evening. My oldest grandson and Sheila each later also caught large rainbows out of that pond. We released the smaller ones we caught. Thanks also for the gift you had for our arrival. Robert and Sheila Boyd Amarillo, Texas

We made it back!! We couldn’t wait to return to this peaceful cabin with beautiful scenery. The wildlife were abundant, views were spectacular, quietness was all around, we couldn’t have asked for more! Just hanging around the cabin 24/7 was enough for us, you couldn’t ask for more beauty, peace & quiet. Pat & boys visited us a couple of times, adding a face to the voice that is always so nice when we visit on the phone. Everything was just as when we had left last year. Kids would have fished 24/7 if we would have let them. We wandered up to Eleven Mile Canyon for a couple of days of fishing too, what AWESOME views of mountains & rocks you should not miss experiencing. We four-wheeled down Wagon Tongue Gulch Rd, a picnic for lunch, our 2 year old napped on the ride, what beautiful, BEAUTIFUL scenery!! We returned to the ‘cabin’ for supper on the porch, hiking South into the Pine trees for a look around, before relaxing in the swing to enjoy the beautiful sunset or lightning to the South before a short rain shower went through. How many days till vacation?? See ya next year!John, Heidi & familyNebraska

Our family vacation could not have been more perfect! The Cohens are so generous to share this spectacular place! We ate every meal outdoors on the picnic table, played games indoors and out, hiked, rockclimbed, skulked all over the property, fished (caught 8 and released 4), viewed a gazillion stars at night, enjoyed afternoon showers, bonded with all the wildlife ---- all in such pristine beauty! The cabin and bunkhouse were extremely comfortable --- every amenity at our disposal -- and kids and adults loved Pacman and Frogger! Thanks so much!! The Hockers Dallas, Texas

Pat, We really enjoyed our stay at your cabin. It was so peaceful and quiet. I know my wife enjoyed the time reading her Harry Potter book. The kids loved the Pacman game and playing croquet. I enjoyed the fishing, even though I didn't catch any. All in all, we all enjoyed the time away from our hectic schedule. We took many pictures and have already shared them with family. I'm hoping to convince them to come to Colorado for the next reunion. Take Care, The Ropers (Mike, Deb, Quinton, Sheridan)

We were fortunate enough to stay at this cabin for the last week of June,2007, and couldn't have asked for more. Serenity, wildlife and comfort -- the only way to truly describe the experieince is complete, indulgent isolation. We were relaxed and revived when we left, and plan to return next year.

This cabin was “home away from home” to us for a whole week in August of 2006. Our family had a fantastic time! Everything was just as Pat said it would be and more! The cabin, mountains, fishing, wildlife, scenery, and more were breathtaking. It has to be as close to heaven on Earth as you can get. Our children lived by the pond trying to catch every fish in it. We couldn’t have asked for a better time away from home, then to step into Pat’s “home away from home”. The accommodations were just like you were at home, you couldn’t have asked more. We loved it here! We plan to return next summer for another getaway to this beautiful cabin!
