Location: Camden, Mid-Coast & Islands, Maine, USA (2 hours from Portland, Maine Airport)

Accommodations:  House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 4)

Situated on a quiet, residential street this adorably updated, circa 1900 farmhouse is just a five minute walk to downtown Camden and its picturesque harbor. Bright and cheery, the two bedroom home offers comfortable furnishings and everything you need in your "home-away-from-home" including a newly added deck and private brick patio for outdoor dining and relaxing. The interior features restored wide plank pine floors upstairs and an antique claw tub, as well as a shower, in the second floor bathroom. Downstairs there is a full kitchen with new Corian countertops, separate sunny eating area seating six, a spacious family room and separate living/TV room which can be closed off via french doors from the rest of the house.

Camden is a lovely coastal town offering something for everyone. Enjoy views of Mount Battie from the front stoop or take a 20 minute hike to the summit from the trail head at the top of the street. Those less adventuresome can drive to the top via the Mount Battie State Park entrance. Either way the reward is a marvelous view of the harbor, bay, and outlying islands.

If you would rather not cook your own lobsters in our convenient outdoor propane lobster and shellfish pot, take a walk to the wharf for a lobster feast at Bayview Lobster, Inc., a cup of delicious New England chowder at Cappy's or venture where the locals hang out at Cuzzy's and have a Maine micro-brew beer. You may also want to reserve a spot on one of the various wooden sailing schooners for a tour of Penobscot Bay or learn to kayak with Maine Sports Kayak Tours. Town events include the Camden Food and Wine Festival in June, Country Roads Artist & Artisans Tour in September, and Christmas By the Sea early December. Camden also offers a wide variety of restaurants, gourmet food and wine purveyors and unique shops where you can find upscale clothing, local pottery/art, antiques, and more.

Wonderfully located in Mid-Coast Maine, Camden is a great stepping stone from which to discover the pleasures of the seacoast as well as an array of exciting day trips to the north and south. Rivers and lakes abound for fishing and nearby towns and cities provide history and cultural amenities. You may want to experience the Annual Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland in August, Arts in the Park in Belfast (18 mi.), and the Union State Fair and Maine Wild Blueberry Festival in Union (13 mi.). This is a real Maine agricultural fair and one of the oldest fairs in Maine.

    • Wicker Cottage met all our expectations and more. We have been coming to Maine almost every summer for the past fifteen years, and my son in law said Wicker Cottage was the best place of all. He especially appreciated the wifi and flat screen tv. Cottage was clean, very comfortable and cleverly decorated. Thank you so much for your helpful information as well. Connie

    • Wicker Cottage provided a fabulous base for our Maine vacation. It is beautifully restored. The setting was central to everything we wanted to see in Maine, and was the cleanest, nicest place we have rented through VRBO.

    • We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, pleasant cottage tremendously. The kitchen, grill and lobster pots make cooking a pleasure and good restaurants are within walking distance. The path leading up to Mt. Battie is just up the street and well worth the effort for the spectacular view of the harbor, coast and surrounding countryside. Great cottage for your adventuring in Camden and Maine.
