The two double bedrooms and childrens bunk-bed room lead off the very spacious central salon which is equipped with a comfortable lounge & TV/games area from which the luxury kitchen leads off - family size fridge freezer, dishwasher, store and a plentitude of utensils, crockery and glassware. There is a shared laundry & separate toilet.
At first sight Cordes-sur-Ciel takes your breath away, La Gaudane is a superbly crafted golden stone building with its five floors clad in wisteria and trompette. It was designed and built in 1881 as an embroidery factory which accounts for its vast and cool interiors with extra deep windows. Each apartment is outstanding with unique personality of antique furniture and state of the art appliances.
It has all the advantages of the town with the quietness of being just off the busier beat. Set on the lower slopes of the 13th Century fortified town it is just 300 metres from bakers, butchers, bank, post office, supermarket, and patisserie. There is both a courtyard garden and the main garden equipped with new fenced pool and a large part shaded terrace, with magnificent panoramic views over the valley of the Cerou. Cordes is handy for an enchanting array of beautiful antique villages and bastides perched on high or even a trip into the wild Aveyron or down to the blue Mediterranean through the Herault.
La Gaudane sits on the lower slopes of Cordes-sur-Ciel with its medieval houses, narrow lanes, and endless mazes of little stone alleys, steps, tunnels, and gardens. It takes ten minutes to walk up to the medieval city from La Gaudane to browse in the many shops selling handicrafts and delicious specialities of the Tarn. There are many restaurants and cafes to while the time.
Cordes-sur-Ciel is a very special town. It is impossible to be untouched by its charm or to leave it without warm and special memories. And last, but not least you will find the last phases of the 19th Century embroidery heritage whose beautiful works are to be found locally at La Gaudane and in specialist shops and ateliers.
