The cottage was spotless and completely updated, the owner provided all the information we required and the cottage location is ideal within West Beach. Our dog seconds all of the above! Hope to repeat soon.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.

Really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful cottage. My dogs loved napping on the screen porch overlooking the woods. It's just a short walk or bike ride to the beach and the off-leash dog park. Wildlife in the backyard included woodpeckers, american redstarts, hawks, deer, and a late migrating hummingbird!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Had a great experience renting from the owners - very communicative and responsive from the beginning to the end. The cottage was perfect and more updated than the pictures show. Great proximity to everything Kiawah has to offer! A bonus to be able to bring our dog. Many thanks again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My family including my dog, Ranger, stayed here 7/14-7/21. It's a great location very close to the beach, quieter than the townhouse we stayed in last year, and gave the 5 of us (plus dog) plenty of space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and look forward to staying again next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.

This Sparrow Pond cottage met and exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and at Kiawah in general. The owners were extremely helpful with information related to our trip and even helped us in finding a dog sitter for one day. We would definitely look forward to staying here again. Next time will probably rent bikes for the whole week, instead of just for 1/2 day, as the bike excursion was one of the highlights for us.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at the perfect vacation cottage for our family! Our grandsons had a great time. We were close to the beach and dining and on a quiet street. Our little dog was able to be outside but closed in because of the gate at the top of the stairs...great for grandsons also. We would love to visit again.Did you find this review helpful? We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the spring of 2012. The cul de sac where the cottage is located is quiet and all of neighbors are friendly. Very easy walk to the beach and the swimming pool. Our dogs loved the beach and ocean, and so did our small daughters. Despite the density of homes in this area, this part of the island was very peaceful during March. Easy drive to grocery shopping and plenty of nice restaurants.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

This cottage was a grand introduction to Kiawah Island. The interior was spotless & tastefully decorated (even better than the pictures); the wrap around decks/porches made it very comfortable to enjoy outdoor reading & being "pet friendly" is always a wonderful bonus. The owner was prompt, efficient & totally accommodating to our needs. I can highly recommend this location - close to Freshfields Village shopping for all the "foodies", easy beach access & miles of trails. Fav restaurant was Southern Kitchen - located in the Straw Market within walking distance. Highly recommended for golfers, walkers & snowbirds looking for a quiet retreat in the off season.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners.

What a wonderful vacation! Right out of the gate, the location is perfect. The cottage is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and only a half hour or so drive to Charleston. Me, my hubby, and our 2 dogs stayed there in February and it was amazing. We enjoy biking and there are plenty of biking trails on the island to enjoy. We saw all kinds of interesting wildlife and even in the winter, the views were spectacular. There is also Mingo Point nearby for all of you outdoor enthusiasts like ourselves. The beach was perfect. As we went in the off-season, we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. We woke up every morning and took our dogs, a blanket, and some coffee and sat on the beach and watched the waves, or looked for shells. When we could, we ate dinner on the beach and watched the sunset. We made it a point to go to the beach at least once a day, sometimes 2 or 3 times. The dogs loved it and I would definitely suggest this rental to anyone who has dogs of their own. They loved running around on the beach (it was the first time they had ever been in sand!) and the house is very dog accessible. The wrap around porch has a door on the stairway so we could just let the dogs roam around the porch without worrying about them getting away. Aside from the dogs, it was just me and my husband. The house is plenty big for a larger group though, but was also a nice romantic setting for just the two of us. The house was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of towels and linens and the kitchen was well stocked (minus enough dishwasher detergent, which I'm sure was just a fluke). My only complaint would be that the hot water doesn't last long (even during a short shower), but other than that, we had everything we needed. I would definitely suggest this rental to anyone interested in a vacation to Charleston, to Kiawah, or just wants a nice beach adventure. And as I said, if you go in the off-season, you won't have many people to deal with (although all the people we came across were very friendly) and it will make you feel like it's your own personal slice of heaven. Additionally, the owners were very nice and answered any questions we had and made themselves very available. Definitely stay at this rental!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent the week of April 23 - 30, 2011 at this beautiful cottage at Kiawah. Our party included older adult parents with their sons and their families. The cottage was spacious and well accommodated our family. The cottage was very clean and the furnishings made us feel right at home. The location of the cottage was just a short walk to the pool and beach. It was very private and offered a wonderful patio for relaxing and outside entertainment. The owners did everything they could to ensure our vacation was the best. The owners were very responsive to any questions or concerns that we had. When planning our next vacation, this cottage and location will be our first choice. The vacation could not have been more relaxing or fun.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We look forward to having you and your family vacation at our home again soon.

POOR VISIT IN THIS HOME , KITCHEN INFESTED WITH GERMAN COCK RAOCHES , DIRTY DISHES, DIRTY OVEN AND KITCHEN OVERALL.. 2ND BEDROOM BED UNSLEEPABLE DUE TO BOX SPIRNG NOISE ,AND ONLY ENOUGH HOT WATER FOR TWO PEOPLE TO TAKE A SHOWER THAN GETS COLD . CUT VACATION SHORT AND LEFT EARLY DUE TO PROBLEMS BEWARE BEWAREOwner response: We regret that this guest is unhappy and we tried to be responsive to his needs. We take pride in insuring that all of our guests have an enjoyable visit at our home and feel this guest's review is inaccurate. Our pest control company responded immediately treating our home and stated that roaches are a common coastal problem and felt the problem was under control and would treat again in a few days to be sure all were gone. We found when arranging for a workman to come in that the guest had violated the signed rental agreement by bringing a pet without our permission and not paying the pet deposit. As to the oven there was ash in the bottom of the oven as the housekeeper had run the self cleaning oven cycle which was not finished when she departed so the ash could not be removed. In the future she will make sure the oven has finished the cleaning cycle and unlocks so she can remove the ash. We discussed this review with our housekeeper and she understands the importance of having our home sparking clean. In the past we have had guests praise the high standards of cleanliness. We have never had prior complaints concerning cleanliness, roaches, box spring noise, or hot water. The guest's early departure was mid-day on a rainy Friday with check out time being Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. The guest requested a refund. As you can see, there were issues on both sides. We have many glowing reviews in our guest book in our home and have many guests that have return visits on a regular basis and have referred us to others. We will try to make our home at Kiawah our guest's home away from home and our guest's vacation as enjoyable as we can.

Kiawah is the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation with beaches, wildlife and sports galore. My favorite experience was sitting on the deck one evening when I heard an unfamiliar sound and looked up from my book---and there were three deer strolling through the back of the property! We also saw many birds, shells, a gator (but not near the house!) and dolphins. So peaceful! The house is well appointed and has room for eight if you have eight folks willing to share two bathrooms. The bathrooms had marble sinks and new tile on the floor and the showers. I liked the outdoor shower that let us hose off the beach and kept bathrooms free. There were mountains of towels available and a laundry room to keep them all washed and ready for the next day's adventure. Our favorite local restaurant was Rosebanks on the way toward Seabrook Island. The food was fabulous. We ate at the cottage most of the time because the grocery store there, Fairfields, had great partially prepared foods and lots of gourmet selections that made staying home for dinner very appealing. We enjoyed eating on the deck of the cottage...well, I did! My daughter thought it was a bit too close to nature with birds, squirrels, deer, and live oak acorns---but that is why I loved it! The cottage looks a little bit different from the provided pictures---different bedding, wallpaper gone, different light fixtures, but the basics are accurate as far as location, layout and amenities. The property was attractive, clean, and had more dihes, towels and sheets than we needed! I recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable vacation surrounded by a beautiful, natural setting.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at this cottage, We even got to bring our dog and he had the best time ever! The home was well stocked and spotless. It seemed to be well maintained and updated from what the pictures showed - new hardwood floors throughout, new marble and tile bathrooms. It was a great location with only a short walk to the beach which us old folks needed. The owner was very helpful when I spoke with her on the phone. It was a fantastic place to stay. We've stayed at other places on Kiawah and this place tops them all. Can't wait to come back next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

During 2010, we spent two enjoyable weeks in the Spring and one additional week in the fall residing in this wonderful cottage. During 2011, we spent two entire months in the late winter and early spring enjoying this same cottage. What we like most about our stays was how comfortable and cozy the cottage always felt and its ability to house our two grandchildren and my mother-in-law. The cottage had everything that we needed (especially the WI-FI access and cable TV). In so many ways, the cottage felt just like home. We love the cottage's accessibility to the beach (less than a 5 minute walk) and to Fresh Fields (a 15 minute bike ride). And the most precious memories, were the long quiet walks/bike rides on one of the most lovely beaches on the East Coast. As for a recommendation, all I can say is that we will be back again during the winter of 2012 and I can't wait.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

I've been meaning to write this review since last summer - my family (baby and 2 dogs) stayed at this property during Labor Day last year - we've stayed in a few of the Kiawah Island rentals over the years and this was our favorite so far. The unit is well cared for - everything is in working order. We could not believe how pleasant and quiet the island was during a holiday weekend (usually so busy and packed at the beach that time of year). We simply had a wonderful time. I was reminded my review was overdue now that I'm looking to book this property again - we enjoyed it so much, we are anxious to come back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

We found the cottage to be comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped and the linens very generous. It was a short walk or bike ride to the beach and pool. Even though we did not bring our dog - the beach in this area does permit dogs on leashes which was a plus. We love Kiawah in general and this was a very nice cottage at a reasonable rate. We had 2 adults and 4 teenage girls.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

This property was as advertised and I found the owners added to making my visit to Kiawah a great experience. The location is perfect, just a short stroll to the beach. My elderly Lab seemed like a pup again as we explored this private island paradise. Watching the deer sit outside the screened back porch while enjoying a morning cup of coffee was a real treat for city folks. The cottage provided everything needed for a extended stay. The owners provided a wealth of information to help us navigate a absolute enjoyable trip. Look forward to returning for years to come, it is a true gem.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent two weeks in this lovely home. Everything that was described in the profile was exactly how we found it. The home was spotless. The bathrooms are new. To have a diswasher and washer and dryer to use was a great feature. The location of the home is perfect. It is a 10 minute walk to the pool or to the ocean!!!!! Didn't go to the pool (not a pool lover) but the beach was endless and the water was very warm. You can walk or bike for miles! It is also a walking distance to the West End stores (10 minutes) There is a real nice clothing store, ice cream shop and a store that sells newspapers, cold drinks, postcards, etc. There is a restaurant b ut did not try it. Outside the gate of the island there is a wonderful shopping center and also on the road leading to the island there is a real good fish restaurant ..forgotten the name but you will find all this info at the home. Kiawah is beautiful and if you are a golfer you will think that you died and went to heaven!!!!!!!!! There are five courses on the island and each course is beautiful. Take advantage of going to Charleston...it is a very easy drive and it would be impossible to get lost! To find a nice place to stay that will accept pets is a next to impossible thing unless you stay at Marriotts Residence Inns. This home with the owners approval will accept your pets and believe me this is very special to have accomodations like this that will consider pets. I would go back again..wish that I was there now!!!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
