This beautiful villa was built as our family home in 2003. We have recently started to offer it for holiday rentals over the summer period. It is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, with only 2 other villas nearby. The views from the house are fantastic. There is a private swimming pool (with optional child safety fence), extensive sun terraces with sun loungers, and a BBQ area with table and 8 chairs for outdoor meals. There are 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom upstairs is air-conditioned and has a super king bed, an en-suite bathroom and a private terrace. There is an en-suite double bedded room with a/c, a twin bedded room, and a bedroom with a pair of bunk beds and a bed settee. In addition to the en-suite bathrooms, there is a large family bathroom, and a shower room. The bright sitting room overlooks the pool and has 3 patio doors, a dining area, and a wood burning fireplace. There is free Wi-Fi with high speed broadband. We have the latest Wi-Fi Sonos music system so you can play your music from your smart phone or laptop. There is a fax/telephone, HD TV with satellite receiver, DVD player/recorder, and CD/i-pod stereo. The kitchen is very well equipped, and has an additional dining table and chairs.The villa is double glazed, centrally heated, and is gated / fenced with secure parking. Casa Pôr do Sol is fully registered as a rental property with the local authority (Alojamento Local) and complies with all health and safety requirements.
HOW TO GET THERE AND VILLA LOCATION: There are several low cost airlines which fly to Faro, such as Jet2, Easyjet, Ryanair, Monarch. The house is approximately 1 hour's drive from Faro airport. It is an easy journey, and is quiet motorway almost all the way. We have a discount arrangement with a local car hire company who will meet you at the airport. We will provide details of car hire when we confirm your reservation. Alternatively, there is a train from Faro to Lagos (the nearest large town to the house), or there is a low cost minibus service directly from the airport to the house. We will provide location maps, and detailed directions to find the house from Faro airport. Casa Pôr do Sol is located on the outskirts of Praia da Luz approximately 1km from the village centre. The villa is on a very quiet road, which is a cul-de-sac. There is virtually no passing traffic, as there is only one other villa beyond ours. The location is perfect for golfers, as you have 4 good courses within 10 minutes drive from the house.
SHOPPING: Praia da Luz, 1 km away, has a good selection of shops, including 2 supermarkets (Baptista and Spar). Baptista caters for British tourists, and has a big selection of British products. They also have an excellent bakery, and newsagent which sells UK daily newspapers. Lagos, 4 km from the villa, is a beautiful town, with a fantastic range of shops, plus at least 5 very large supermarkets (Intermarche, Continente, Lidl, Aldi, Pingo Doce). Prices in these supermarkets are lower than those in Praia da Luz. For those who enjoy outlet shopping, there is the Algarve Shopping Park at Guia, which is about half way between the villa and Faro Airport (30 minutes drive), and Aqua Shopping Mall in Portimao (20 minutes drive). They both have a great selection of clothes shops, and a very good food hall.
BEACHES: The nearest beach to the villa is Praia da Luz (which means beach of light). This beach can get very busy in high season, so be adventurous and go further afield! There are lots of beaches along the south coast, and up the west coast. Our advice is to head west and explore the beaches, heading towards Sagres - famous for the navigation school where the Portuguese explorers learned their craft. The best beaches are less accessible, eg down bumpy tracks, but they don't all have facilities such as cafes. Two really nice ones are Furnas and Figuera. Two others with good restaurants are Zavial and Ingrina. Heading north from Cape St Vincent, up the west coast, the beaches are wilder and much quieter. Some nice ones are Castelejo, Cordama, and the famous surfing beach Armado, and Carrapateira. The things to be aware of is that very few of the west coast beaches have lifeguards, whereas the larger beaches on the south coast do. If you enjoy walking, there is an almost unlimited choice of beautiful routes, many of which are signed.
The Master bedroom is upstairs. It has a super-king sized bed, an en suite bathroom, and private sun terrace.
The Double bedroom has an en suite shower room, and patio doors to a private terrace.
The Twin bedroom uses the main house bathroom. It has patio doors to a terrace.
The Children' room has a pair of bunk beds (adult size) and a double sofa bed. It used the main bathroom.
There is also a cot available.

The villa is on three levels; the living areas (Kitchen, Sitting Room, Utility Room, Shower/Toilet) are on the lower level; up six steps to three of the bedrooms (Double, Twin, and Children’s' bedroom) and the Family Bathroom; then up about eight more steps to the Master bedroom, en-suite Bathroom, and sun terrace.
There are large spacious wardrobes in each bedroom. The villa has an environmentally friendly sewerage system, which has an underground treatment unit. The water produced from this is used by the computerised garden irrigation system. The unit conserves all water from the villa, and rainwater is also collected. It is important that no non-biodegradable materials are put down the drains.
Please note that the maid service is 3 times a week (Mon, Thur, Sat) not daily. The location of the villa is very convenient. It is a pleasant 15 minutes walk to the centre of Luz (i.e. the beach) where there is an excellent supermarket with a bakery. Our villa management agent is in Luz....moreless

During the period early November until the end of March, clients may wish to use the central heating. If so, there will be a charge of £8.50 per day (the cost price of the bottled gas). Clients may wish to order logs (our local agent can do this for you), as we have a very efficient wood burning fire which helps to heat the whole villa.
Babysitting can be arranged via our local management agent.
25% deposit required on booking. The balance of 75% will be due 4 weeks prior to your holiday.
Payment can be made by personal cheque, or by bank transfer, in either £ pounds or € euros.

This delightful village overlooks a pretty and sheltered bay, which has a very safe sandy beach and amazing rock formations. It is well supplied with restaurants and beach bars, and there are some excellent cliff walks to neighbouring villages. Whilst the number of private villas in Luz has increased over the last few years, they are of a high quality and the facilities of the village have improved because of this. There is a Water sports school and a Scuba Diving Centre. 5 km away is the medieval walled town of Lagos, which sits on a hillside overlooking the harbour, an impressive new marina and a wide bay of golden sand. It's picturesque cobbled streets have a superb selection of markets, modern shops, restaurants and pavement cafes. At night, there are street entertainers, lively bars and discos. For culture, there are many galleries, museums and monuments. The area around Lagos also has several first class Golf courses, such as Palmares, Quinta da Boavista, and Parque da Floresta.

About the owner: We are an early-retired early 60's couple from the Pennine town of Holmfirth, where we live on a small farm. We have 3 grown up children, a golden retriever, 2 cats and 12 hens. We have been going to the west Algarve for over 30 years, and built our first house there in the mid 1980's.
Why the Owner Chose Burgau: This is our 2nd house in Praia da Luz. We had it built in 2003, and is only 200 metres away from our first house! Originally just used by ourselves, our family and close friends, we have now started to offer it for rental over the summer period to help cover the high running costs. We like the area very much, especially the panoramic views, the fantastic sunsets, and the very quiet location......and yet we are only 1km from Luz centre.
