Charlie's Place was completely renovated in 1999, restoring the original knotty pine paneling and wood floors. Walk from the living room to the spacious beach front deck with only a few steps to the sand. With Charlie's Place you have the flexibility of renting the main house for smaller and more intimate gatherings, or you can rent the full house, ideal for family reunions, or larger groups.
Main House Configuration (Sleeps 8) includes:
• Entry level of home: Ocean facing Queen bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, living/dining area with flat screen TV, fireplace and door out to ocean facing two, tiered deck
• Second floor: Two ocean facing King bedrooms, ocean facing Queen bedroom, full bathroom, and washer and dryer.
Full House Configuration (sleeps 14) includes the main house (as described above) and the lower level lock-off unit.
Lower level lock-off unit includes:
• Bunkroom: (3 sets of bunk beds, sleeps 6)

Charlie's Place was our choice for our annual Oregon Coast Get a Way! It is the Perfect Beach House and even more impressive in person! Comfortable, wonderful home....felt like we were staying at a friend's house. Excellent Ocean Views from decks, living room, and bedrooms!! Easy Beach Access was a Dream come true for adults and a toddler! We enjoyed all this kids beach toys too! They've thought of everything! Very Clean. Very Comfortable! Well Maintained. Very Responsive and Helpful Owners! *WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT!*Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This house and the views from the house are absolutely spectacular! While I am tempted to be selfish and keep the secret of how much my husband and I, along with two other couples, enjoyed Charlie's Place, I can not help myself! I must submit my gratitude and admiration to the owners of Charlie's Place! The owner is very sweet and helpful while making the reservations! The property is maintained extremely well! I loved the organization of accessing the house and the "checking out" process of the house. The decor and beauty of Charlie's Place is so cozy, relaxing and enjoyable! We and our friends raved about the beauty of the home and the views throughout the weekend! I most definitely recommend a stay here! This was my second stay here. The first time, we went out to dinner to a couple of really good restaurants nearby and shopped. This time, we stayed in for meals. The kitchen had everything we needed for grilling and cooking meals. We also had a campfire on the beach each night! Overall, we enjoyed ourselves so much, we would like to make it an annual getaway!! Thank you Charlie's Place for being there!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We have visited Charlie's House on many occasions. The house is roomy and very clean. The upstairs bedrooms have a great view; we open our windows and take in the ocean breeze and sounds all night long. The beds are very comfortable; sleeping in a king size bed is heavenly. The beach access is easy to get to down a few steps and wonderfully close. The only thing I can say negative to the house is that the house was designed for tall individuals (higher showerheads and countertops) and the downstairs is in a darker wood paneling. But the good outweighs the bad tenfold. We love having a garage to unload and load into that keeps us dry when it is raining outside and there is a mudroom before going into the living area. The back deck area is large and exposed to the ocean view, and the front porch is cozy and quaint for coffee chats We LOVE Charlie's Place and hate to recommend it to anyone we know; because we know it makes it harder for us to get reservations, especially when not planning months in advance!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Owners had been out of the country and were not able to get access to communications while gone(this was not intended). We had trouble during our stay and needed acknowlegement through a phone call or email. When we did not get it after a week, I wrote my review. We were not aware of the issue they had while away, that led to no communications. That being said, emotions over the apparent lack of consideration of the glass door issue, forced me to write a negative review. If you want a old style beach lodge feel, then this is your place. Everything has been done to make your stay comforterable, and beach views/sounds are to die for. I do not think you could get ANY better. Beds are wonderful and for the most part, things were clean. Overall, I would not recommend this home to those with pets as this is not allowed at this home, and does not appear to ever have been allowed, as the home is free from animal damage. That above recommendation for this was a mistake. But we would recommend it to those who love to be close to the beach and love the lodge beach feel. The owners did make things right w/us for the lack of communication, showing their concern and profesionalism which was much appreciated.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+.

First of all, the beach access was amazing, and the sound/view of waves..excellent! The upstairs rooms with views from all were very nice and beds comforterable. Bathrooms had essentials needed. The negatives were..the owners are very hard to get a hold of so the renting process was difficult to start. Was afraid if there was a problem during stay that we could not get in touch with them. Also, after staying, I emailed them regarding the fact we had to leave early due to a family emergency, telling them that even though we were losing a nights worth of rent, we had to leave. Part of it was also because a shattered window in the door that wasn't broken out completely had gotten glass chunks on the threshold. one of which lodged into my sons foot and cause a lot of grief since he is only 18 months. I would have thought I would have gotten a response to this fact, at least an apology or acknowlegement. I am very disappointed and will not be recommending this home or staying here again. Also, the downstairs decor was very dark and musty/dreary. The furniture needs a update due to being very worn and dirty. And we had 2 toddlers and could not heat the downstairs because it is only heated by a gas fireplace that has no cover to shield little fingers from being burned. So we froze downstairs. Overall, not a good experience.Recommended for: Pet owners.

Year Purchased: 1935
About the owner: The Boutwell Brothers inherited Charlie's Place from their paternal grandparents, Willard & Gladys Boutwell. The boys, along with their parents, (Burr Sr. and Anne Boutwell) would spend summers and long weekends visiting their grandparents at the beach. Willard & Gladys are gone, but we think you'll feel the warmth and relaxing environment they helped to create at Charlie's Place.
