Journey back in time to a kinder, gentler era in our restored plantation home just 200 steps from the ocean that was built in 1928. Hale Kealoha is the winner of the 2006 Historic Hawaii Foundation Preservation Award. The original owners retained the home until 2004 when it was purchased by us. We have made an effort to maintain the charm and character of the home while renovating it. Several original pieces of furniture remain in place, such as the cedar chest at the foot of the king bed in the master bedroom and the buffet piece in the dining room.
You will see handmade doilies and afghans throughout the home. We updated the kitchen appointments and added a second bathroom. When carpet was removed from the old bathroom, a beautiful mosaic tile surface was uncovered like buried treasure. The decision to restore it to its original beauty was immediate. We re-porcelained the original over-sized tub in the old bath and the kitchen sink with porcelain drain board. There are two showers in addition to the tub, as well as an outside shower for rinsing sand off after a day at the beach.
From the kitchen window and the rear lanai, there is a peek-a-boo view of the white water at nearby Fuji Beach. When stepping outside, you will know how close you are by the sound of the ocean. Sleeping Giant is the view from the front of the home.
The rear lanai is ideal for outdoor dining and relaxing. There is a charcoat grill for those cozy home-cooked meals.
The house sits on 1/4 acre with many flowering plants and trees.
You are just a short stroll to Kapaa town where there are many restaurants and shops. Kapaa is an oceanfront settlement halfway between Hanalei and the Waimea Grand Canyon. Its central location makes for a short drive in either direction to the south or north shores.
Come visit the most beautiful island in the world and stay at Hale Kealoha.
