Home on the Beach - Oceanfront Condo with Pool, Wi-Fi, Linens

Perfect for families, couples as a romantic getaway, two couples traveling together, or retirees. Maximum occupancy for my condo is six.
My 'Home on the Beach' is in a beautiful oceanfront condominium, 'A Place at the Beach.' The only thing between my condominium and the beach are the sand dunes. The fantastic views from my third floor balcony include beautiful sunrises and glowing sea at sunsets, fishing boats and sailboats, playful dolphins and birds, surfers and swimmers, and other beach activities.
My private balcony has two tall chairs. I feel like I have a million dollar view. The porch on the street side overlooks our condo's private pool. Even though this unit is on the third floor there are only two flights of steps, since the first floor is almost ground level.
Our beach access is at the north end of the building. A definite plus is a Carolina Beach lifeguard stand located to the far right of the condo building.
One enters my home through the spacious kitchen and can see through the family room to the rolling ocean waves. The kitchen is fully-equipped and has plenty of storage space. There is a utility cart and a storage cabinet in addition to the built-in kitchen cabinets. Both of these match the wooden and white ceramic tile table and four wooden chairs.
Now to the family room. Both the kitchen and the family room are decorated with many lighthouses. I call the kitchen and family rooms my 'lighthouse' rooms. The large family room contains a sofa and two comfy chairs. Shell lamps accent the two bamboo and glass end tables.
The family room also has a 20' flat-screen TV, DVD player, and stereo with CD player in a bamboo and glass entertainment center. A floor lamp lights the entertainment center. The living room is also displays three small artificial trees with 'beachy' decorations. We now have free Wireless Internet Access!!
Sliding glass doors lead to balcony overlooking the ocean. The ocean can also be seen from a long window near the sliding doors.
The master bedroom has a full bath, TV and VCR player, window view of ocean and private entrance to balcony. This room is furnished with a bamboo & wood queen-size bed and matching dresser, armoire and night stands. The fishing net and shell window treatment enhance the bed’s shell comforter. The bathroom and bedroom are decorated with shells and lighthouses. You guessed it. I call these rooms my 'shell rooms.'
The second bedroom is my 'tropical room.' It has a twin bed and a bunk bed with a twin on top and a double on bottom. The fishing net with tropical flowers draws attention to the tropical floral comforters on the beds. Both beds are white metal. This room also contains a small table, white night stand with a tropical fish lamp and white four-drawer chest and a TV.
Carolina Beach is located about halfway between New York and Florida on the southeastern coast of North Carolina on a beautiful and quiet island. Pleasure Island is the larger of the two barrier islands on the Cape Fear Coast. The beaches are wide, beautiful, sandy and not crowded (even in peak season). Carolina Beach is great for sun seekers, beachcombers, moonlit beach walks, nature lovers (Carolina Beach State Park), fishermen and water sports enthusiasts.
Some other activities, interest and necessities in Carolina Beach are Carolina Beach Pier (.8 mile), Boardwalk (.8 mile), Wheel Fun Rentals (with unique bikes, surreys and pedal go-carts), shops, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and medical center. All are within 2 miles (many within walking distance) of condo.
The island itself has many other points of interest. Since the island is so small you aren't very far from anything. Kure Beach with its fishing pier, beach trolley tours, shops and restaurants is about a 3.5-mile drive. The southern most part of the island is only 7.5 miles from condo. Here you will find the NC Aquarium, Fort Fisher Historic Site, Fort Fisher/Southport Ferry and Zeke's Island estuarine complex.

Great location, great view,well-equipped condo. Even though it is in a complex, the condo was very private and quiet. However, the condo was not cleaned adequately when we arrived but Ann did refund our cleaning deposit to us. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay.Owner response: The renters had a great attitude and didn't let this spoil their vacation. I have a really great cleaning lady. She always does a wonderful job. However, this time she had put my rental schedule on her clipboard backwards and didn't think my rentals started until July. This had never happened before and I have learned from this experience. I do check with her now to make sure she has been there.

I really enjoyed my stay. It was relaxing and comfortable. The beach is beautiful and not overly crowed. The condo was clean and well organized. I enjoyed the local boardwalk, especially Britt's donuts! If you want to kick back and rest this is the place to come. Will come again!! This was the first time my family and I had stayed in this location and we really enjoyed it. The condo was exactly as advertised and was very comfortable for a week's stay at the beach. The view from the balcony is amazing! The building the condo is in is small and very private, so we did not have to deal with loud music or other annoying things that can happen at places with more condos in one building. We would definitely stay here again in the future. It was a great vacation at a great place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had the best time. The condo was very, very nice. Clean and had everything we needed - towels, linens, dishes, beach chairs, toys, boogie boards - couldn't have asked for anything more. Wonderful location - perfect walk to the boardwalk or to the fishing pier. View from the balcony is fantastic - we sat out there many times throughout the day - watched the sunrise (and the dolphins), enjoyed the evening breeze and the fireworks. Couldn't have asked for a better location or a better vacation. Thank you Ann!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Couldn't have asked for a better location! Steps from the ocean, beautiful balcony view, easy walk to boardwalk. This condo is very well stocked for what you might need, and roomy enough for a family. Ann was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with before and during our stay. Carolina Beach is a nice location for beach as well as other things to do - aquarium was great!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I rented this condo in March 2010. We had a great time at Carolina Beach. It was centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants and the boardwalk. The condo was plenty big for the both of us, and the views were great. We were greeted each morning with the beautiful sunrise (we wake up early). On most days you could see the dolphins frolicking in the water. Because we were there on the off season it was extremely quiet and very relaxing. If we go back to Carolina Beach we definetly will rent again from Ann. She was very helpful before and after our trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family very much enjoyed our first trip to Carolina Beach. This condo met all of our expectations. It was clean and well equipped for everything that we needed. The complex along with this unit is clean and well maintained. The pool is an added bonus and is also clean. The beach area is not at all crowded and we did see dolphins swim by. Fireworks from the boardwalk can also be seen from this beach. I would recommend this condo to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing beach vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Well, my family and I have just finished unpacking from our trip to Carolina Beach. Over the past 10 years or so, we have stayed in 4 different units at this condo and other family members have stayed in 4 or 5 of the other units. This unit by far is our favorite. We cook in more than we eat out and the kitchen was well equipped. The electric grill was great for burgers. The great view from the balcony was well worth the 3 short flights of stairs. We also enjoyed each room having its own theme with the decorations. Again, this is an awesome unit and the owner is great to talk to and deal with. We rate it a 10+. Thanks again for allowing us to rent from you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I'm a retired mother of two and their spouses, grandmother of four, now in their early twenties. I enjoy going to the beach of course, dancing, and card and/or board games. I've owned my 'Home on the Beach' since 2002. I've really enjoyed the hands-on approach of renting it. I enjoy getting to know my renters by phone calls and emails. Also, I think my renters like the personal touch.
Why the Owner Chose Carolina Beach:
I grew up going to Carolina Beach. We were only able to go down for a day at a time or occasionally a weekend. By my senior year in high school I was able to save enough money (working in tobacco, milking neighbors cows, and doing mechanic work) to take my family to the beach for a whole week. It was wonderful. My children also grew up going to Carolina Beach. Fortunately, they got to go a lot more than I did when I was young. I wanted my grandchildren to have some of the same experiences my children and I had. When I found this unit available, I jumped at the chance. It wasn't very pretty when I purchased it but the view was wonderful. After much shopping, decorating, and yes, sometimes even blood, sweat and tears, it is now a beautiful vacation place.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
In addition to the beautiful sunrises and early morning fishing boats, I've been able to watch playful dolphins many times and even a beach wedding. I have even to seen 2 sea turtle hatchings, one right in front of my unit.
