Always wanted to be one of the insiders and know the secrets that the locals do? Well I am going to let you in on a little secret called Bainbridge Island. The lovely island of Bainbridge is a short 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. This beautiful island is where the yuppie executive meets the gentleman farmer. Which means that it retains its rural atmosphere with mini farms and abundant parks while catering to an affluent population with some of the best gourmet restaurants, unique boutiques, natural food stores, and of course espresso stands located in a quaint downtown. It’s a place that milk is still delivered to the door, the buses stop at a wave of the hand to take you to the ferry, and the check out people at the local stores know your name and what your kids may be doing after school.
Perched above and overlooking the Murden Cove estuary is our own seven-acre mini farm. We are pleased to be able to share our four-bedroom/three bath primary residence during the months of June thru September and during Christmas and New Years break.
Our home is centrally located on the east side of the island approximately two miles from the ferry and one mile from town. You can view the Puget Sound and the ships coming in from the fire pit or take a short 15-minute walk to gorgeous Manitou Beach, which looks over Puget Sound towards Seattle and Mt. Rainer. A deck with barbecue grill and seating runs the entire length of the house and faces the tidal estuary. You can enjoy dining on your fresh salmon as you watch the salmon run and the eagles feed below you, depending on the season of course. We have a canoe at the waters edge which you are welcome to enjoy but this is a tidal cove so what looks like a river at high tide will become a creek at low tide. Feel free to enjoy our farm fresh eggs or pick some delicious organic veggies from our garden. Don’t worry about who takes care of all the animals and landscaping, we have a caretaker on site and will be glad to arrange for housekeeping or babysitting for an additional fee.
The house is perfect for large families, couples or families traveling together. The house itself consists of a master bedroom with queen bed and attached bathroom, a bedroom with two twin Ikea loft beds, a bedroom with a queen, and another centrally located bathroom all downstairs on the main floor with the kitchen, living room and home office.
From the kitchen is access to the laundry room and a self contained one bedroom apartment above the two-car garage. The apartment functions as our media room but is well suited for a completely separate residence with a large open area with its own kitchen, a bathroom, and a private bedroom with a double bed. There is even a Harry Potter room above the stairs, which the kids under ten seem to love. The couch in the apartment will make down into a double sized sofa bed. I fully stock both kitchens and you will love the extras that only a truly lived in home can provide. The home office has a computer with DSL. We are a very kid friendly home having five children ourselves so no matter what the ages you may be traveling with rest assured they will find something to enjoy about our home. We are happy to supply cribs, high chairs, etc. just let us know your needs.
The Northwest is a beautiful place to live and visit. We feel confident that our home on Bainbridge Island will meet all your needs whether traveling for business or pleasure. While it is not completely necessary to have a car on the island we recommend it in order to experience all the island has to offer as well as the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, which can be accessed by the bridge off the backside of the island. If going to the Seattle side you have the choice of taking a car or walking on the Ferry. Nothing beats sitting back and taking in the sight of Mt Rainer and the water as you cruise to Seattle while sipping your drink or reading your paper. I hope you have a great vacation.
