Maggie Valley cabin description
This upscale log home is known as 'Almost Heaven' and its name says it all! Once you have sipped a cup of coffee in one of the rocking chairs on the covered porch and watched the sun rise over the valley, you will know how this log home got its name. Relax in the hot tub while taking in the mountain view after a day hiking in the woods or visiting the local attractions. This beautiful log home is in a gated community above Maggie Valley Country Club, at an elevation of 4600 feet. Bell South DSL is available at NO additional charge. This home is one of the few log homes with an excellent view and a large grassy front yard. It has a private setting of over two acres. The living area features a stone-faced wood-burning fireplace and plenty of glass to enjoy the outstanding Mountain View.
You are only minutes away from many attractions such as Ghost Town in the Sky, Elk Viewing, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Indian reservation, Harrah’s Casino, many championship golf courses, horse back riding, white water rafting, trout fishing, as well as great dining and shopping in Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Asheville and Dillsboro.

Almost Heaven is a fine home, truly almost to heaven. It is at a fairly high altitude, which would be perfect except for the extremely narrow, winding roads with hairpin turns. If you don't have a four-wheel drive vehicle, look for someplace closer to the valley in winter. You'll never make it there with snow or ice on the roads, This house is perfect for one family only in my opinion. That's because the main floor bathroom is only accessible through the master bathroom. Unless you want everyone in the house to go through your personal belongings to get to the "loo," I'd suggest keeping it all in one family. The kitchen is acceptably equipped, but very difficult to navigate. This is due to cabinets being placed over an awkwardly wide countertop. Ditto on the microwave. I'd prefer doing without rather than trying to insert an item into it with a door on the far side for opening. Also be ready to run the dishwasher at least once, if not twice, a day because there are only enough plates, bowls, etc. for one meal if you have six folks in the house. Additionally, the televisions need updating. While the satellite reception is great, the unit in the living room is about half the size it needs to be as are the ones in the master bedroom and second bedroom upstairs. I'd suggest a television in the loft, which is where kids are most likely to hook up video equipment for evening entertainment. While these are trivial issues for some, for us they were annoyances that we would rather not encounter on vacation. On the positive side, the hot tub was a big hit as was the wood-burning fireplace. The yard was a wonderful, safe play area. The cabin was clean, appointed with bears galore, and decorated tastefully.

My husband and I have travelled far and wide, from hostel to luxury resort and we both agree this was the most relaxing, romantic vacation we have taken. Yes, we were celebrating our anniversary, so that makes it special, but this cabin with its woodburning fireplace, secluded hot tub and privacy, lulled two very busy people into complete calmness. Don, thank you for sharing your cabin with us and our dog (who loved the yard), we had a lovely time, staying in our pajamas till noon, rocking on the front porch for hours, reading in front of the fire, napping, repeat. On the drive home we were both so relaxed that we agreed it was the perfect vacation in the perfect cabin. Thank You

Best Christmas Vacation
Best Christmas Vacation
My family stayed here for a few days before Christmas. We had a wonderful relaxing time. The property offers a beautiful sunrise from any of the windows. The roads getting to the home are very steep so I understand the concern of traveling if there was snow or ice on them. We would stay again.
