Summerhill - Cambria Home with Great Ocean Views!
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Cambria
This home is special to us, and we are planning to retire in it someday! We love Cambria (who wouldn't love this place?) and chose it because of its location in Park Hill and its wonderful views of the Preserve and ocean.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Ranch Trails are close at hand. Just walk up Huntington Road past 6-7 houses and to the right between 2 homes you will see the entrance to the Fiscalini Upper Trail! This trail hooks up with all of the other trails in the ranch, including the popular Bluff Trail, so you can start and end your tour of the ranch area right "next" to our home. Also, Shamel Park is only a 5 minute walk away (beach area, pool, picnic tables, etc).
Beach Access, picnic tables, playground, pool (Memorial Day thru Labor Day only).
Open preserve with nature trails and spectacular ocean and forest views. Walk up Huntington Road about 9-10 houses from ours and look for an opening between two homes.
Trendy, laid-back beach community with an Old West look, especially on Ocean Street. The pier is the place to go when the weather is accomodating, and the beach is the best around.
Five minutes south from Cayucos, Morro Rock is a monolith that is the area's best known landmark. You pass thru Morro Bay going north on Hwy 1 to Cambria, and you can't miss it.
An immense depression containing brackish water, teeming with fish, fowl, reeds and lillies. The road out of Morro Bay through Morro Bay State Park towards Los Osos affords the best views.
Another small community that has a rich history and affords great views of Morro Rock as you make your way south into Montana De Oro State Park.
A great Day Trip from Cambria. The only road in is through Los Osos, and it winds through thick Eucalyptus groves (Monarch butterflys mate and nest here every spring) high above the coastline. Occas
Former home of William Randolph Hearst, now a major National Historic Monument with scheduled tours every day of the week! A "Must See" during your stay in Cambria, and only 10 minutes north on Hwy 1
It takes around 1 1/2 hours to drive from Cambria to Big Sur, and the ocean and mountain views are breathtaking. 30 minutes north from Big Sur and you arrive in Carmel, with shops and the 17 mile dri
Restaurant and shops with picnic tables situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. Breath-taking views, a pond, garden area, and a trail that takes you all the way down to the ocean!
This is one of the most photographed spots in the world. Remember the postcard with an idyllic waterfall emptying out on a sleepy, remote beach lagoon? This is it!
The ocean blows through 3 sea-caves directly off the beach on this remote stretch of coastline. The road down to the beach is an adventure in itself. Going north, look for an opening on the left of

Maryann and I live in the San Fernando Valley. She is an RN for Kaiser Permanente, and I work out of my home and also at a Drug Rehabilitation Center for the Salvation Army in the evenings. We have no children, but have 2 cats that we take with us whenever we stay in our Cambria home!
