Dockside Villas is like a home away from home, only better! With the dock on the water, and all the amenities, we felt like it was our own place! Our 14 year old boys enjoyed the bikes, the fishing rods, the kayaks and most of all, the boat ride with John; all provided as part of the stay. We had a lovely ride, and yes, we saw Dolphins! The pass for Honeymoon Island came in handy, as we were able to go to the beach every day! The swings on the dock were the perfect place to relax and unwind in the evening and for morning coffee. When booking on vrbo, we looked for comments on cleanliness, and we were not disappointed. The villa was nicely decorated and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. We recommend the villa and look forward to our next visit...many thanks John & Sheila.

Thank you very much John and Sheila- we both very much enjoyed our week visit at your villa. You both provided us with great suggestions and knowledge of the area making our stay that much more enjoyable. We both really loved the bikes that were provided as we did not rent a car during our stay. We made a few trips with them to Honeymoon Island and benefited from your free pass to the island. The water and sand were amazing. We were fortunate enough to see dolphins 5 of the 7 days! One was right by the floating dock at the villa 2 feet away. We were also able to get some good pictures of a dolphin on our boat trip with John- that was a great experience. We also got great use of the kayaks provided to us so we could see the dolphins at water level. The jolly trolley was easy to use on the weekends and were able to figure out the bus system easily so we could get to Clearwater through the week. We also enjoyed having dinner in Dunedin and easily walked the 2 miles back along the nice Pinellas Trail. The villa itself was immaculate. No sand or grime on the floors and were provided with all the utensils and kitchen accessories you could think of- John and Sheila really have thought of it all and then some! If we could rate this a 6 out of 5 we would because there were so many extras provided without the high price. We really look forward to returning to this villa in the future. Our experience was exceptional. We arrived to an incredibly clean and well equipped condo. Sheila and John have thought of everything... if you forgot something, they have it. You can't go to a hotel and get the extras from this condo. The washer and dryer with laundry soap came in handy a couple of times. We really enjoyed our complimentary boat ride with John, he knows the area more than my daughter, who has lived in the area for 16 years. He showed us things we had not seen before around Calidesi & Honeymoon Islands. John showed us where the best fishing spots were. My husband took out their inexpensive rental boat the next day and had a wonderful time catching fish with his friend. They caught and released over a hundred trout! I enjoyed the ability to use their State Park pass, kayaks, sand toys and life jackets. I'm just sorry we did not stay long enough to use the bikes.

A Wonderful Time

We had a great time on our three week visit to the Dockside Villas condos in February 2012. The description of the unit in VRBO well reflected the condo that we stayed in. We highly recommend the second floor units as they have a higher overlook the canal behind the condos with views of pelicans, egrets, heron, and occasional dolphin. Our private deck with table and chairs provided a wonderful overlook where we spent many hours enjoying the environment. The condo was very comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen, one bath, two bedrooms, living room – dining room combination, three TVs with cable, one bedroom TV with a built in DVD (we never used) and a washer and dryer. The one flight walkup was fine for us. The local environment was great. Access to Honey Moon Island State Park was very nice. Hiking to see a bunch of Ospreys and their nests and one Bald Eagle family and their nests was great fun. The beach area was pleasant as well. Dunedin is a few miles away, accessible by bus and trolley and bicycle (via the Pinellas Trail), if you don’t want to drive. The town has a very positive attitude. No parking meters!!! Has locally supported events. Has a weekly outdoor market. Our favorite restaurants in town were Casa Tina, and the Dunedin Brewery. Local to the condo, we enjoyed Brendas on the Causeway with wonderful blueberry pancakes at a pleasant price (a block walk from the condo), Cricketers (a British style pub serving plenty of food) in the small shopping center nearby, and the Island Outpost (an indoor/outdoor sidewalk restaurant). The only shortfall with the condo location was the lack of a nearby supermarket. A drive of several miles was necessary to reach the nearest supermarkets. A Publix supermarket is being rebuilt in the local area which will be very convenient (about a 3 to 4 block walk from the condo). The owners of the Dockside Villas quadraplex were very helpful during our visit. We were escorted on the condos boat twice for two very pleasant trips on the intercoastal waterway (including lunch in Clearwater) and the close-in Gulf of Mexico.

A Gem On The coast

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Dockside Villas during July. Our condo was "Super" clean with all of the amenities of home. John and Sheila were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for great time. The boat ride and fishing with John was icing on the cake. We could only stay one week, and really hated to leave. The Dockside Villas is top on our list for future vacations.

A piece of paradise in Dunedin

Firstly, let me say thank you to John and Sheila for being perfect hosts. Ther wasn't a question about the area they couldn't answer. Or a thing they won't do to help you out (thanks for the loan of the fishing poles!) This is one of the nicest places my wife and I have stayed. The location is ideal and the condo (villa) was spotless. This is truly a home from home, with everything provided for your comfort. The owners (John & Sheila) have put a lot of thought into how to make holiday makers happy, and it shows. The condo is right on the causeway to honeymoon island. This is another thing the owners have thought through, by providing passes for entrance onto the island at their own expence. One of the highlights, is a free boat ride around the islands by John. He takes you out on the boat for 2/3 hours and shows you the local islands and wildlife. He has vast knowledge of the area and habitat that live on, and around the islands. The condo is situsted about 2 miles from downtown Dunedin, 6 miles from Clearwater. Also very close to Tarpon springs, Busch Gardens and Orlando is about 85 miles(1.5hrs) away for Disney ect. There is very good shopping in the area and some lovely restaurants (Bon Appetit was one of our fav's). Also Publix is very close by, as is Walmart for food shopping when you want to cook in. I would highly recommend Dockside Villas as a place to relax and wind down for a week or two. It won't disappoint. We will definitely be returning. The only down side is that there isn't a pool. But you are so close to the gulf sea (which is as warm as a bath) that you're only 2 minutes from dipping your toes in. One recommendation from us would be a small safe in the villa for passports and travel papers for people coming from over seas. PS. Forgot to mention that Dolphins are always swimming out the back.

Beautiful and Clean Villa with Dock on St Joseph Sound

My wife and I stayed for a week in June 2011 and celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary. The villa was very clean, well maintained and stocked with everything you would need. We loved sitting on the dock while enjoying a glass of wine. John and Sheila are excellent hosts. John gives all guests a tour of the St Joseph's sound on his boat. He is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. It is ideally located for beaches, shopping and sightseeing. I recommend this villa without reservation. Boat enthusiasts can even bring a boat and dock it there at the villa.

Dockside villas are the perfect place to stay if you want a relaxing holiday. The villas were spacious, very comfortable and immaculate. We sat under the covered porch eating our meals and relaxing on the swing watching the dolphins swim past. The boat trip with John was amazing as we had dolphins swimming close to the boat. A supermarket and a good place to eat were very close to the villa. Honeymoon Island is just 5 minutes away by car and John and Sheila have provided a pass for you to use. Thank you John and Sheila, we had a fabulous holiday.

Just back from 9 nights at Dockside Villas. Lovely location - saw dolphins nearly every day from villa and also a manatee. Good fishing from the dock. Plenty to do close by - cycling, golf, beach and Dunedin town is delightful and only a short 5 minute ride away. The boat trip with Jon is a great extra included in the rental (caught fish from the boat, saw dolphins and tarpon and visited one of the barrier islands) - Jon and Sheila go out of their way to ensure you get the most out of the area e.g. providing passes to Honeymoon Island and bikes to use. The villa was spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Wunderbare Unterkunft

Wir waren mit zwei Erwachsenen und drei "Kindern" die letzte Aprilwoche 2011 in Dunedin. Die Unterkunft entspricht exakt den gezeigten Bildern. Also kein "Ulaubsprospekt". John und Sheila waren wirklich sehr gute Gastgeber. Die Buchung, Reisevorbereitung, Ankunft und Abrechnung verlief einwandfrei. Die Wohnung ist mit allem ausgestattet so das man nichts mitbringen muss, außer Lebensmittel. Bettwäsche, genügend Handtücher für Bad und Strand sowie eine komplette Küchenausstattung mit ausreichend Besteck, Geschirr, Ofen, Mikrowelle usw. Zusätzlich hat man freien Zugriff zu 4 Fahrrädern (lohnt sich für Fahrten zum Supermarkt oder nach Dunedin), 2 Kajaks, Angeln und diverses Strandmaterial wie Schirm, Stühle, Schwimmreifen etc. Toll ist das Dock auf dem man sonnen, angeln oder ins Wasser springen kann. Die oder den erwähnten Delfin haben auch wir mehrfach gesehen. Es gibt aber noch andere interessante Besucher wie z. B. einen Pelikan oder einen weißen Fischreiher, der einem stets beim angeln zur Seite steht. In unmittelbarer Nähe gibt es die sehenswerten Strände auf Honeymoon Island die man in 5 Min. mit dem Auto erreicht. Der Freizeitpark Busch Gadens liegt in 45 Min. Reichweite. Restaurants, Bars und ein super Eiscafe liegen in kleinem Umkreis. Wir werden sicherlich nochmals hier Urlaub machen. Wir können Dockside Villas absolut und ohne Einschränkung empfehlen!!! John and Sheila were wonderful. We had 3 small children on our trip and they had a blast. The boat trip was great - saw dolphin, played at a quiet island. John does a great job of being a tour guide. The place was clean, well equipped with everything we could have asked for, and John even loaned us a few small fishing poles to us for our kids to catch pin fish off the dock. The vacation was just what we needed.

In April, three of my girlfriends and I rented one of the Dockside Villas. We had a blast! The villa was clean, close to several beaches and there was so much to do near by. They had bikes available and the Pinelas Trail was just around the corner, so one afternoon we took a 20 mile bike ride! John is friendly and easy-going and will drop you off to one of the near by islands or for just a boat ride.... If I had any complaints, it would be the traffic close to the villa, but you don't notice it after the first day. Downtown Dunedin is a MUST, it's charming,lots of cute shops and movies play in the park on Friday nights.........we happen to be there on the weekend of the Scottish Festival and the Walk-About-Wine Tasting event, where every shop had wine and specials going for the evening. We had a blast and are already planning another trip next spring! The villa is less the 15 minutes from Clearwater where there is something going on every night on the beach.........we would highly recommend the Dockside Villas to anyone.

Our vacation experience at the Dockside Villas was all that was advertised. John & Sheila are fabulous hosts, whose primary goal is for guests to enjoy their time in Dunedin. Our accommodations were modern, neat, and immaculate. The boat trips for lunch, fishing, shelling, and just plain pleasure, greatly enhanced our vacation. The Pinellas bike trail became a daily experience [we often rode 15 miles or more] where we met many friendly bikers, walkers, and joggers. Our daily trips to Honeymoon Island were enhanced by the use of a seasons parks pass, which John & Sheila gererously provided. Linda and I can't wait to come back next year to enjoy the sunshine and hospitality of Dunedin and John & Sheila. You will not be disappointed with your time here at Dockside Villas in Dunedin, Florida.

We don't get enough time for vacations as it is,so when we finally had the oppurtunity to spend a week the whole family together,we wanted to be real special.So it was more than special!Thanks to Sheila and John.Dockside Villas is one of a kind.It's so cute,very,very clean,you got evrything that you need and more and not to mention that is a great location!Sheia and John are such a lovely and kind couple!We loved the boat ride,and Sheila and John were so kind to agree to take our friends who were staying in Clearwater to join us! Fabulous experience, squeaky clean

This is now the standard I will use to measure any vacation rental. First of all the accommodations were squeaky clean (really important to my neat freak husband). It was beautiful and quiet. John and Shelia very responsive and caring hosts. One of the things I really enjoyed was the swing on the deck. You can sit there and watch the sunrise or come up over the water. The view is of St. Joseph Sound. I was there almost every morning taking photographs and drinking coffee. Do not miss the boat ride with John we took a morning one and saw dolphins playing right in front of our boat. I plan to return and take the cruise at sunset. Everything you need for the week is in the condo. Just bring your clothes. It is walking distance (about 1 ½ to two miles) to Honeymoon Island. There is a lot of nature to see. I loved grilling on the deck also. Don't skip lunch at Casa Tina in downtown Dunedin or a trip to Tarpon Springs to visit the sponge docks. Or you could just spend the week running the Pinellas Trail and relaxing. It was a very relaxing and special week. Overall, a really wonderful experience. Dies war nicht unser erster USA-Urlaub, aber mit Abstand der erholsamste.Es stimmte einfach alles: Das Haus mit seiner Ausstattung, die nichts zu wünschen übrig lässt; die Umgebung und natürlich Sheila und John, die uns durch ihre Fürsorge stark beeindruckt haben. Sorry for the delay in posting this. What a superb condo, clean, comfortable, very well appointed and cosy. We have been self catering for years in the UK and Europe and found Sheila and John’s place the finest ever. It was like a dream. The boat deck was the most relaxing place you could wish for having dolphins swimming up and down, lots of small fish that eat just about anything used for bate. Kayaks, wobbly to start with but got the hang of it, great. We really did not want to move on. Shopping was excellent and very local. Our boat rides with John and Sheila provided us with so much information about the area. We have met few people as welcoming as these two. Honeymoon Island is fantastic and just up the road from the condo an entry pass is available for use. Dundine is a small town with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Clearwater not too far away but busy! Anyone travelling from the UK must take advantage of this little piece of heaven. Once again thanks for a first rate holiday. Mike & Carol

My daughters wedding

We have stayed at Dockside Villas several times in the past, so when my daughters wedding was 5/8/10, our only choice was to stay the couple days where we feel the most relaxed. This place is truly good for the soul. My son and daughter -in-law was very impressed with the villas and how close it was to the beach. My 3yr old grandson sleep like a baby and enjoyed the beach so much. Thank you Sheila for all your hospitality once again. Hope to see you again soon. Wir waren begeistert, Dockside Villas ist ein fantastischer Ort um sich wunderbar zu erholen und hat all unseren Erwartungen entsprochen: super sauber mit allen Komfort, sehr schön gelegen direkt am Wassser hier schwimmen Delfine, gemütliche Terrasse etc. Außerdem gibt es Fahrräder und Kajaks zur freien Verfügung. Sehr gut gefallen hat uns die Bootstour (wir waren 4 Stunden unterwegs) mit Insidertips vom Besitzer. Natürlich waren wir auch von der fantastischen Landschaft begeistert. Our family of 4, with children 7 and 16, loved our week at Dockside Villas! The villa is nicely decorated, clean and well stocked, and John and Sheila are friendly and helpful. To dine and relax on the dock while watching dolphins, manatee and rays was amazing. We loved kayaking and went out nearly every day (life vests are provided). What a fun extra! Our boat trip with John was great and our 7 year old will always remember catching a shark! Another awesome extra! Thanks John! We spent many unforgettable hours on Honeymoon Island and appreciated using John & Sheila's annual park pass. Another nice extra! We found Dunedin enchanting and our villa location extremely convenient. Honeymoon Island was unanimously our favorite place. It's worth multiple visits! Our next favorite was Tampa's Lowry Park. The stingray and manatee exhibits are incredible and we loved the white tiger cubs. We visited both area aquariums and preferred the Clearwater Aquarium over Tampa’s Florida Aquarium (which doesn’t have dolphins or manatee). We paid Clearwater Beach one visit and knew immediately we preferred Honeymoon Island! We’ve already recommend Dockside Villas to numerous friends and family and we’re dreaming of a return visit!

Dockside Villas Delivers as Promised and More

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Dockside Villas. The condo was impeccably clean and there were alot of little extras provided. Walking into the condo was like walking into someone's home. John and Sheila are very gracious and friendly hosts. Also, this is the first vacation rental that did not require us to clean before we left. This was a blessing since we left at 6:30 in the morning. We had a great time on our 3 hour boat ride and fishing trip. Unfortunately, the fish weren't biting, but the tour was breathtaking. The dock was our favorite place to sit and relax. It is much bigger than pictured. I not only would recommend this to a friend, but plan on returning; hopefully, year after year. As far as the activities, the Lowery Park Zoo, Fort DeSoto State Park, Pinellas Trail as well as Sea Sea Riders Restaurant were our favorites. Honeymoon Island Beach is nearby. The beach is beautiful, but there were alot of rocks. The causeway is a great place to run, walk and view the setting sun.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed over the holidays to visit my folks and unwind. We normally stay at St. Pete but not anymore. Dunedin and the Dockside Villas were the perfect place to spend a vacation. Clean and cozy quarters, relaxing backyard, fish filled canal and gracious hosts. Dunedin was very convenient and we found everything close by. To me and my family, this is the place!

We are now two weeks into a long-term rental agreement and could not be more pleased. The villa has exceeded our expectations in every way - - spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, nicely equipped, and conveniently located near the beach, shopping, dining, and entertainment. John and Sheila are a renter's dream - - there when you have questions and wonderfully invisible otherwise. The villa is right on the water. From our patio we have already seen dolphins, rays, conch, and even a manatee. We recommend this property without hesitation or reservation!

If you are looking for a place that is close to beaches, shopping, walking, eating , fishing and just being lazy on a quiet beach, this is it! We stayed a week and loved every single minute of our stay. The owners are top notch and very friendly. Everything you need is provided for you, except your food of course. The villa was very clean and nicely decorated. The free boat ride was very nice. We could have chosen to fish or go to Caladesi Island, but we wanted to ride around "our island" Honeymoon Island. From our villas' balcony we saw dolphins,( when the tide was up) Pelicans and other native birds. Boaters and Jet skiers would pass by occasionally waving up to everybody on their balconies. This place is just awsome! I recommend it highly.
