"ABIGAIL'S BEACH HOUSE" is a gorgeous large Victorian Cape Cod style waterfront retreat home. The home sits on the BEST private walking beach on all of Orcas Island! This waterfront home is located in the popular resort islands of the San Juans, Washington. Built in 1997, this exquisite home has one and a half acres of perennial gardens, plus a boardwalk over protected wetlands where you will view many birds, otters, bald eagles, and even whales!
All together, there are 5 private bedrooms and 2 of these rooms have extra beds in them also. There are 3 upstairs bedrooms, 2 with dramatic water views of inner passage islands and the Canadian mountains beyond. The master suite has a king bed plus an additional double bed in a private alcove, a wine refrigerator, outdoor balcony overlooking water, and a Victorian bathroom with claw foot tub, and more dramatic water views.
Two upstairs bedrooms share a big bathroom with waterviews. One room has a queen and a double bed, the other has a double bed and is a small room, but has a terrific water view.
The downstairs level of the home is very special! There is a large gourmet kitchen that opens up to a comfortable family room with dining tables, antique cook stove, water views, and French doors that open to a large outdoor deck overlooking the incredible beach.
On the deck is a gas grill and many outdoor tables and chairs for summer dining.
Abigail's Beach House can be rented as a 5 bedroom retreat. Or, you may rent from 2-4 bedrooms of the main family home, still including the large gourmet kitchen and family room combined. This always includes the huge outdoor partially covered outdoor deck with gas grill overlooking extensive gardens and the beach. (This shared "style" use of the main home is rarely done, but the owner will consider if you are interested in this arrangement to reduce your costs.) More often a smaller family of 4-6 will decide to leave out renting one or two bedrooms and the weekly or shorter stay rate will be reduced. These rooms just remained locked. However, during prime summer season, June 15 - Sept 7, this reduced arrangement is not always available. This "reduced" size rental depends on how the summer booking calendar is unfolding and if you may be willing to share one of the main house bedrooms with a non-related short stay guest. Fill-in peak season rentals or "shoulder season" rentals are more likely to get the 2-4 bedroom reduced rental rate with guaranteed whole house privacy. The owner will discuss these varied arrangements by email and phone in detail. Please email first.
There is one other option for just couples or a couple and older child or extra person. Consider renting our charming one room loft with 2 queen beds,kitchenette (no stove)and 1/2 bathroom (no shower). Entrance for the couple's loft space is completely separate and this loft also has complete privacy from the main beach home, except for shared access to the beach.
