Set on a small quiet square, this elegant town house is built of the pale yellow stone typical of Uzes. To enter the apartment, you open the huge old wooden door and enter the tower from the passageway. A flight of well-worn stone steps brings you up to the first floor.

Enter into a wonderful high-ceilinged living room, with its two west-facing windows that overlook Place Austerlitz, and down a paved lane to Place Aux Herbes, the main market square of Uzes. The living room is very comfortable with a dining table and chairs, window seats, and two sofas, one of which is a sofabed.

The kitchen, sleek with stone counters, is to the rear of the living area through a stone arch. The kitchen is very well equipped with all new appliances in 2004.

A flight of stairs takes you up to the bedroom, again with two large windows overlooking Place Austerlitz. The bed can be arranged either as twin beds, or as a super king double bed. The en-suite bathroom, has a large powerful shower, basin, and toilet.

Continue up the winding stone staircase of the tower, and you come out onto your private terrace with its magnificent 360 degree panoramic view of Uzes and the surrounding countryside. It is a perfect place for a morning coffee and croissant, a light lunch, and a glass of chilled rose wine, early evening drinks as the sun goes down, or late night star gazing after a pleasant dinner out.

Parking can sometimes be found by the house, but more usually is about 100 yards away in a public parking space. Covered garaged parking can also be arranged.

The apartment Listing no 80692 and the duplex can be rented together. This would suit a larger family, or two couples traveling together. The apartments can be accessed separately, or can be linked together via a door in the bathroom of the duplex. By renting the top floor apartment, the duplex also benefits from the extra teak decked terrace which is on the same level as the bedroom, so providing another outdoor space for relaxing or dining.

  • My husband and I stayed at the Duplex Apt last May 08. The apartment was awesome and very comfortable. Lucy and Peter were there on a moments notice when anything needed attending to and we were so fortunate as well to make friends with a lovely couple from the USA. The kitchen is well equipped and convienient. We did cook a few times while staying there, as the Saturday and Wednesday market were basically at the doorstep, perhaps 50 yds away. Large living rm windows overlook the street and we enjoyed many an evening just people watching and enjoying a bottle of wine from that perch! The bedroom upstairs is HUGE...and well appointed again with large windows, and a big ensuite bath that was also nicely appointed. We did manage a day up in our "tower" which provided the 360 degrees view of the town and all of the historic landmarks. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!! We were able to get a parking space in front most times, but there is a carpark very close just on the ring road that is convienient as well if your parking luck runs dry! You won't be disappointed in your stay. Lucy and Peter are very accomodating hosts and even had some goodies and a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival. Enjoy!!

We've even contemplated changing our dream retirement location from Magnolia Springs Alabama to Uzes. Highly recommended without hesitation.

  • Apartment cannot be faulted for decor, and fittings and comfort. It also happens to be 60 seconds away from the excellent local market (not to be missed) on Saturday and Wednesday. Great eateries in Uzes. Canoes from Collias not to be missed. Would we stay again? yes.

  • My husband, daughter and son-in-law and I rented both apartments at Austerlitz for one week in mid September 2008. The apartments were perfect for the four of us. We enjoyed both the balcony and tower. The bathrooms and kitchens were very modern and well equipped. The stairs were a challenge, but we all loved climbing them. By the end of the week, we were very good at it. The location next to the center square was perfect. There was a wonder food market on Wednesday, a small market on Sunday and a super market on Saturday. We loved cooking the fresh produce we bought there. Uzes is located very close to wonderful Roman remains from a thousand years ago--think Pont du Gard, Nimes, Orange and Arles. Uzes'location on the Rhone is in wonderful wine territory, especially Rose. We loved the apartment and town. We want a return visit.

  • We were so pleased to have found this delightful apartment, which had everything we could possibly require for a week in Uzes. We had travellrd from New Zealand, via the Middle East and were well ready for the delights of Uzes and this tasteful and convenient place. We particularly enjoyed the bed, which was probably the most comfortable in our two months of travel. We would love to return to Uzes which has so much to offer.

I have passed on your website to three people so far including an Australian lady I met on the aeroplane and a couple of the ladies I work with here who also love France.

    We were absolutely delighted with the apartment. It is very attractive and tastefully decorated and had everything necessary for a more than comfortable holiday; I really don't' think we could fault it. The kitchen and bathroom, in particular, were most comprehensively and beautifully equipped; Lisa was very comfortable on the fold-away bed and much enjoyed her holiday there. Ww all loved the tower and spent quite some time up there with the odd glass of wine, beer or coffee! Uzes is such a lovely town, I've no doubt we will return for a 5th time and if we were to do so, we would love to spend the holiday at Place Austerlittz again.
