The Blue Poppy Estate, built in 1817, is located in the small coastal village of Sedgwick. Just a few miles to Deer Isle and about an hour's drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
The home has been lovingly restored to its natural grandeur and speaks of the dramatic history and beauty of its small coastal town. Four of the bedrooms have their own fire place and each room is decorated with period antiques to allow the visitor to feel as if you have gone back in time. Even the brick oven near the parlor fireplace is in working order.
The landscaping of Blue Poppy is one of the most meticulously detailed and maintained in Maine. The 12-acre property has a seven-acre, self-guided, nature tour though the fields and forest. Select plants, trees, and moss are identified as well as a few woodland faeries.
There is a croquet lawn surrounded with 15-foot cedar trees and a vegetable and flower garden for guest's picking.
The beach is accessed by a long, meandering path through the field and woods across the street, or one can simply drive around the corner to the public boat landing to launch kayaks or canoes.
The Blue Poppy is a place unlike any other; a perfect place for large families, reunions, honeymoons or just friends getting away from the stress of daily life.
