Casa Soleada is in Humacao, a small, modern community only a 45-minute drive from San Juan's international airport on Puerto Rico's tropical east coast. Our home sits more than 1000 feet above sea level, overlooking an 180-degree view of the Caribbean and nearby mountains. As you sit by the pool enjoying your favorite drink, you will see eagles gliding below! Look out over the sparkling Caribbean Sea to Vieques Island and on to Culebra and Saint John. This amazing view allows you to see nearly the entire coastline of Eastern Puerto Rico. The surroundings are lush, verdant, and tropical. Palms, flowering bougainvillea, poinsettia, flamboyant, and hibiscus color the hillsides. You can pick grapefruit and oranges from our backyard trees for your breakfast.
Our home comfortably accommodates one or two couples, or small families of five or less in a modern, cheerful, and relaxed tropical setting.
A large, living room is furnished with two comfortable love seats and two banquettes. TV with a VCR and 50-movie library let guests stay in and relax at night. A separate gathering area, provides space to read or talk away from the TV.
Dining area includes table for five adjacent to a full kitchen, with ice maker double door refrigerator, microwave oven, cook top range, toaster oven, coffee maker, and complete cookware and dishware.
The master bedroom, offers a queen-size bed, with French doors opening into a lovely yard and garden. A separate sleeping area has a single day bed and single trundle bed. A cot may be added to accommodate a fifth adult or child.There is also a port-a-crib for toddlers.

Year Purchased: 2005
Jim and Marilyn Meighan first visited Puerto Rico on a Christmas trip in 1972. Enchanted by the great natural beauty, wonderful weather, relaxed culture, interesting history and warm friendly people, they vowed to return. Over the next two decades they made several more trips to Puerto Rico. Now certain that they wanted a retirement home on this welcoming island, they acquired Casa de Loma (Hill House), their first home on the island. Visiting Casa De Loma, in its relaxed rural environment, soon led them to believe that other travelers would enjoy the unique experience of visiting the "real Puerto Rico." In 2000, they began opening Casa de Loma to other island visitors. After more than 100 guests, they acquired Casa Soleada in 2005. A truly unique getaway for couples, honeymooners, small families, Casa Soleada provides a similar immersion in the culture, while offering spectacular views, a wonderful small swimming pool and a bright airy living space.

We love this place..My only regret it we waited too long to book Casa Soleada and as a result couldn’t stay here for our entire vacation! The Meighan’s have thought of everything a guest might need or want. We did not meet their manager, but saw what a fabulous job he does! This is a perfect love nest!

This is our second stay at Casa Soleada…the view is still spectacular! The House and amenities great! Really enjoy the pool. We enjoyed going to English Mass at the nearby Palmas Del Mar 9:30 on Sundays, it’s so close and convenient. This is our fourth vacation in Puerto Rico.. we plan to come back next year to Casa Soleada or Casa De Loma!

We are sunning by the pool (the perfect size for two!) reflecting upon our stay at Casa Soleada. We love the colors you’ve chosen for each of the rooms. We appreciate the binder of day trips. Casa Soleada was an ideal base from which to explore the Eastern half of the “Isla de Encanto” with its flora and fauna and warm friendly people. It is wonderful knowing that at the end of each day, you’ll be perched high and on the hill overlooking the mountains and the sea and the lights of the town.

It’s our last full day at Casa Soleada and we have decided to spend it by the pool. The weather has been perfect, 82 and sunny and the Caribbean breeze delightful. Highlights of our week: Culebra Island’s Flamenco Beach; Old San Juan and El Yunque Big Tree Trail. Relaxing at the house is great!

We love the house and the pool. We had friends up for a drink, who live at Palmas Del Mar for 3 months each year and they were amazed at the view! We all enjoyed sipping Rioja as the sun went down. (There are nice Spanish wines here we don’t get in the States.) We enjoy Los Bohios for lunch; Los Makos for dinner…wonderful fresh fish and fish stew in Naguabo.

We enjoyed a wonderful week in July of 2010. My husband and I spent a week exploring the island without children. I would love to bring the children with us. I have recommended this house to several people. The pool was wonderful!

We have had two weeks of the most wonderful weather. We couldn't believe how warm it was as soon as the sun rose. Golf a lot at Coamo Springs very nice and very reasonable. Enjoy the Segway tour of old San Juan; the guide was very good and we were very impressed with the preservation of the city. We had dinner afterwards at the Latin Roots and danced to a live band. Great food and fun. Toured around a lot and visited El Yunque. Casa Soleada was very comfortable and the scenery, especially at night, was fabulous. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

Casa Soleada was all that was promised!
